I have mixed feelings, for once, i¡ve always felt that single cards without previous prepa work shouldnt solo a match by themselves but that control should have linearly scaling win conditions other tha "lel i waste my opponent's time by fatiguing him", and C'thun warrir back in WOTG was the first taste we ever gto from a proper control deck, then we got taunt warrior later, decks where you progressively work towards your win condition during the game. On the other hand, asides C'thun, before DKS and warrior quest we really didnt have any proper win condition for control decks to be excited about and most DKS represent that cool high mana win condition for control decks that we longed for for soooo long, and this last two years with un'goro a Frozen throne we actually got proper defense tools to stall until we have our win conditions, just see shudder shamman for example, i've honestly enjoyed the year of the mammmoth when i actually get excited about pulling an expensive card because i know it's a wincon, i know i'll have an edge in macthes where i manage to survive long enough to play the card AND i know i actually have the proper defense tools to stall enough games into the win condition instead of fo example pulling a Rag from a pack and automatically calling it garbage because i'm dead before i can even play it or the turn after i play it (ahhh gotta hate gvg)
paladin: uther of the ebon hand, sunkeeper tarim, val'anyr, level up, righteous protector and unidentified mail. paladin loses a lot less than most classes with rotation, especially with baku and genn unfortunately staying legal.
Umm... you do realize "Level Up!" is rotating out and is a core card for odd paladin, without which there is no point to even run the baku power? Moreover, with Vinecleaver, Fungalmancer and Corridor Creeper rotating out (as well as Tarim, which was the key reason for running Stonehill Defender in odd), your whole build falls apart.
My collection is going to take a big hit, since almost all of my cards are from those 3 expansions and I hate wild. Hopefully my fun decks like Dragon Paladin and Mech Hunter will actually be good.
Keep in mind that there will be over 250 new cards come rotation, so a lot of the decks that are tier one now might be obsolete by rotation.
Examples from last year: Pirate Warrior, Razakus, Midrange Shaman
You'll end up dusting those cards and have a nice stockpile for making the cards you want.

Newsflash to all the whiners... when the oppressive cards you whine about rotate out, other cards will take their place and become just as oppressive.
Other cards will take their place as the best cards in the format, but that doesn't mean that those cards will be just as oppressive. There's a difference between how good a card is and how oppressive it is.

+1 attack to everything does not a burst kill deck make especially when that's ALL you have going for you. What made Odd work is that you had a ton of ways to keep refilling and a ton of ways to go agressive once that board is filled.
The rotation eats almost all of those board fills and buffs. The decks becomes a weak, unstable mess without all of that.
Haven`t played standart in a while, so i started from rank 19 the other day... In 15 games it was ALL - aggro pally, aggro warlock and aggro rogue, just those 3 classes and nothing else! If that is not boring!
I'm gonna be really really enjoying the next year of Hearthstone with all the lame swing cards being gone.
However, there are a couple cards I'm really going to miss
Dragoncaller Alanna was a really fun card. Big Spell Mage in general was very fun to play (although Frostlich Jaina can really go fuck herself at this point).
Rin, the disciple was also a really cool card. I remember when everyone was going on about how it was way too slow and there was no way to ever make it work outside of meme decks...and then it was part of the strongest deck archetype in the game...without any direct support.
Still salty that Swamp King Dred never made it into any Hunter deck and I will always love Lakkari Sacrifice even if it was trash.
Despite that I'm really glad that 90% of the current meta will go straight to hell. Good luck ramping turn 5 with no way oto refill your hand, Druid. No more auto wins for Hunter in control matchups just because they drew Rexxar in time. No more Psychich Scream, no more Stonehill highrolls, no more Happy Ghoul beatdown, no more f***ing "lul drew Keleseth just in time, guess I win this mirror", no more Voidlord walls, no more aids Paladin leveling Up their shitty little goons, no more Tar Creeper cockblock in aggro mirrors, no more Fungalmancer BS when you thought you could turn it around, no more infinite Shudderwock BS, no more Aluneth Burn.
holy shit, there's a lot wrong with year of the mammoth....
Still salty that Swamp King Dred never made it into any Hunter deck and I will always love Lakkari Sacrifice even if it was trash.
At least we'll always have that HCT moment when the Hunter played a Jeweled Macaw into Swamp King Dred for literally the only possible counter against a Priest Mecha'thun combo.

I hate to disappoint you, but Shudderwock is staying. Also, speaking of which, Shudderwock is just as broken of a card as the ones rotating out, so don't get your hopes up about things magically getting better. The offenders will still be there, just different cards.

true, and I have used him myself (to various degrees of success) so I don't feel like he was really robbed of his ability to shine.
It's just that he looked so perfect for Hunter at the time and even now that Hunter is quite literally king of the meta with 3-4 different archetypes and yet none of them have any use for the king.
Next rotation will mark a renaissance for Hearthstone. So far this year we have seen sets that are extremely weaker than the previous ones, sets that I would compare to TGT. It is evident that the direction that Blizz wants to take standard in is one where the meta is a lot less powerful than it used to be and that is good, in my opinion. Weaker cards aka majority of sets didn't get a time to shine because they were just trash compared to everything else in the format. Now we might get to see some stuff that we wouldn't normally consider seeing play in standard.

Shudderwock without Grumble, Zola, Volcano, Healing Rain, Glacial Shard, etc. is probably unplayable.
cards leaving rotation in the year of the ??? from each class and neutral
druid: malfurion the pestilent, ultimate infestation, spreading plague, branching paths, hadronox, ironwood golem/oaken summons, wispering woods. also notably togwaggle pretty much only sees play in druid and is rotating out.
hunter: deathstalker rexxar, spellstone, play dead and terrorscale stalker, rhok'delar and to my side (no more spell hunter), katherina winterwisp. both of the play dead effects are rotating out do it's not that big a deal but devilsaur egg is also rotaring.
mage: frost lich jaina, arcanologist and explosive runes, aluneth, primordial glyph, arcane artificer, open the waygate and leyline manipulator, dragonncaller alanna dragon's fury and raven familiar.
paladin: uther of the ebon hand, sunkeeper tarim, val'anyr, level up, righteous protector and unidentified mail. paladin loses a lot less than most classes with rotation, especially with baku and genn unfortunately staying legal.
priest: shadowreaper anduin, psychic scream, shadow visions, archbishop benedictus, awaken the makers, spellstone, lyra and radiant elemental, spirit ladh, guilded guardian, eternal servitude, obsidian statue. also priest loses ticking abomination (lol) so mechathun doesn't work anymore
rogue: valeera the hollow, the caverns below, sonya shadowdancer, kingsbane/shinyfinder, vilespine slayer, elven minstrel. rogue doesn't lose many good cards but most rogue decks are completely gone or drastically changed by rotation.
shaman: most of shudderwock as an OTK deck (grumble, saronite chain gang, volcano, healing rain), all the elemental stuff from ungoro (kalimos, blazecaller, servant of kalimos, fire plume phoenix), and a few things from even shaman like primalfin totem
warlock: bloodreaver gul'dan, voidlord, skull of the man'ari, defile, possessed lackey, rin the first disciple, hooked reaver, kobold librarian, spellstone, despicable dreadlord, vulgar homunculus, gnomeferatu, happy ghoul.
warrior: every card with the recruit mechanic, fire plume's heart, direhorn hatchling, dead man's hand, blood razor, reckless flurry, scourgelord garrosh
neutral: prince keleseth, the lich king, zola the gorgon, tar creeper, fire fly, carnivorous cube, master oakheart, spiteful summoner, charged devilsaur, fungalmancer, saronite chain gang, skulking geist, cobalt scalebane, elise the train Blazer, arcane tyrant, corpsetaker, devilsaur egg, gluttonous ooze, stonehill defender, viscous fledgling.

Don't forget Saronite Chain Gang. Mass removal, healing, bounce, freeze could conceivably be replaced in the next sets, but without the literal "Battlecry: Copy this minion" there's no combo to support.

Shudderwock is staying but chain gang is not. Dedicated wok players will have to discount it twice then zola to replay it, or they could grumble a grumble and have a 1 mana grumble. Idk there's probably a way I'm not thinking of, but the main reason for infinite woks is saronite chain gang which does not have much time left in standard.

What exactly is Shudderwock going to sync with?
Glacial Shard, Prince Keleseth, Zola the Gorgon, Corpsetaker, Saronite Chain Gang, Volcano, and Grumble, Worldshaker are all gone.
That means no final combo. No ability to copy Shudderwocks (that includes Shudders in the hand AND Shudders on the board). No ability to stack buffs to the deck. No abillity to clear the entire board. No ability to freeze creatures.
The only thing you can do is have a 6/6 that does 6 damage with lifesteal. The deck is dead.
No, replacing those cards with something else typically doesn't work. Decks that seem to do that tend to lose support cards, not their KEY cards. Or they are zoo (only because we call ANY warlock deck that isn't control 'zoo'. I've seen midrange decks with that title)
Of all of the decks in the upper tiers we have right now, the only ones that won't be gutted of their critical cards are:
Odd Rogue: They lose a lot of important cards like fungalmancer, but their key cards came this year so they have a chance to hold up if Rumble gives them some nice replacements. Though so far the Pirates have been Even. If Pirates can't replace their early game peopel lwill TRY to make it work and it'll work as a tier 3-4ish deck.
Murloc Mage: They lose Gentle Megasaur but it's still possible.
Odd Warrior: Their key cards mostly come from Boomsday interestingly enough (and baku of course).
Miracle Rogue: Because ALWAYS Miracle Rogue
And Maly Druid if Maly doesn't get HoFed which it probalby will.
Note that Warlock isn't among it since Zoo loses Happy Ghoul: the key reason why the deck works, along with Funglemanser and Flappy bird. The other warlocks lose defile, the DK, and the spellstone which should, all by itself, mean they are gutted.

Shudderwock as a OTK (or close enough), yeah, but there's "midrange" shaman too, which uses only zola and shards from these cards...
You can't stop the signal.
