I just took the time to look through the cards of expansions that will rotate out in 2019 and my mind was a little blown by how many crazy and game defining cards we are going to loose. I am not even going to try to list them all but with Journey to Un'goro, Knights of the Frozen Throne and Kobolds and Catacombs we will loose all Quests, all legendary Weapons and all Deathknights plus a ton of other insane cards (if you havent seen aFire FlyStonehill Defender or Saronite Chain Gang lately you must be playing Gwent).
To be honest I don't really see how the two new expansions will hold out but at the moment they don't seem to anywhere near to beeing as defining as those expansions were. Of course it kind of exciting what mechanics they might hold back for the upcoming expansions but I really fear that the 2017 expansions might have been the best we are going to get.
What do you guys think? (Please note that this thread is not supposed to comment on problems you might see in this or past meta games but is more focused on the future).
The expansions that rotate out, basicly are the cheat-out-mana year. I am glad they did not continue this trend with WW and BDP. Also the only reason I keep up with the game, I am basicly bridging with daily quests until the next standard year. What annoys me the most: Blizzard introduced Standard to not force powercreep and have a healthy meta. They failed with that because the power level did increase significantly since WoG from expansion to expansion until KaC.
MUAHAHHAHA GOODBYE ULTIMATE INFESTATION. SAYONARA EXPLOSIVE RUNES. FUCK YOU DEVILSAUR EGG. SEE YOU ALL IN WILD NEXT YEAR.
I could go on about each and every card I hate but... yeah...
I hope that since all the batshit crazy cards will disappear in the same expansion, it will be like a breath of fresh air for deck-building again. Either that, or aggro just rolls over everything ._.
Dr. Boom and Hagatha are actually not that oppresive like mage, warlock and partly druid and hunter DK. Rogue, warrior, paladin, shaman, priest are basically unplayed now, because they are not game breaking.

Heheeh, when Hagatha gets rolling it can be devastating. As I play lots of Shaman, I look forward to a no DK meta.
If all the broken cards go out Odd Warrior will be broken as f***. Ofc they going to print new cards next 2 expansion but I doubt these cards going to be as strong as all these broken Druid cards, Rexxar, Jaina or Guldan which are cards that can hold CW back. So invest in CW is a wise move now

This 100 percent. Warriors were tremendously weak for more than a year previous to this year, it's quite obvious with the next rotation the pieces left for Odd Warrior, specifically control are there still there. Invest in Odd Rogue if you don't want to play control, unless they nerf Hench Clan it will continue to be an undisputed tier 1 deck.

I don't think odd warrior is that great. I'm always terrified when I face a normal warrior, with odd I always figure I'm in with a chance.

The only expansion that had a problem with mana cheating is K&C.
KFT may have had some problems in that regard, but they were limited to Druid and went away with the nerf of Innervate.
JtU is the best designed set in a while, IMO (if we dismiss The Caverns Below, of course)
I mean, most rotations have been huge so far, but this one's really interesting, simply because of how very few of the new cards actually saw play and a lot of the power core came from KoFT and KnC.
I for one am very glad that most of the neutral powerhouses finally disappear (I hate Firefly with a passion, for no other reason then that it weassels its way into just about any deck vaguely minion based and ruins the overall flavour of said deck)
I'm also happy that the whole mana-cheat meta might finally come to an end and we can go back to actually playing our cards and not just lose in a single turn (Although Kathrena was lots of fun)
I'm a bit sad that the deathknights are leaving, since they really helped some classes into relevancy (don#t think we'll se any sort of control mage without Jaina, and Hunter will definitely drop in overall winrate without the Deathstalker backup. At least Warlock still has J-raxx to fall back on)
I really want to see how we get to use currently powerful cards (like Shudderwock) without the support that pushed them over the edge.
Either way, as long as the next two expansions don't release completely broken stuff that define deckbuilding for months to come I could easily see the next year be a lot lower in powerlevel, which could have some previously weak decks rise to power (for example Mech Hunter or Deathrattle Rogue)
The recruit mechanic from Kobolds and Catacombs I'll be happy to see kicked into the long-grass.
The real thing I'd be interested in for the next rotation will hopefully be revealed via the Blizzcon Panel - The future of Adventures.
Ditching these in favour of 135-odd card sets that has a mildly entertaining dungeon run type campaign was a pure money grab. IF this panel gives some credence or restores the single player content than I'd be quite excited for the new meta.
OR, if they're seeking to shorten the months between expansions with adventures to make this more of a money squeeze, yeah, I'd not be so keen.
Just wait until they will introduce a new 5 mana "gain +5 mana crystals +5 attack +5 armor & summon 5 5/5 treeants with rush" to make Druid class finally competetive.

Depend on what decks you play. Odd Warrior better vs aggro decks, Warlock decks and Malygos decks, which huge part of the meta atm. Normal Warrior with 1 DMH better versus Big spell mage, Paladins, Token Druid which not as polular atm
I'm holding my breath on this one actually though it IS possible we'll get what you're hoping for.
The last few years, Blizzard has gone through a cycle of Underpowered but impressive first expansion, over-the-top second expansion, utterly broken and rage inducing third expansion.
They outdid themselves with Witchwood (though it was hard to tell early on) and actually avoided the trap by heavily underpowering Boomsday (IMO the cards ARE good, so it's not TGT quality, but it's the lowest power of the sets in standard), but it's the third expansion when everything turns to HADES. I'm afraid they'll view boomsday as a sign to go over the top again and break everything.
I'm hoping they don't, that they run a low powered but interesting third expansion (aka another Boomsday), let the rage and hate flow, though with balance patches to mollify somewhat, then let the rotation make verything go BOOM in a good way.
We'll see though. The announcement for the final expansion will come next month.

Looks like it. The major cards it'll lose will be Elise, Reckless Flurry, and Stonehill Defender. Dr. Boom alone will keep the deck strong, imo.

The loss of DKs but the fact that warrior still has dr boom is probably gonna fuck up the control meta real bad
That's Incredible!
welcome to boom's meta, puny control-lets
Formerly Sneeds. Twitch merge locked me out of my old account :(

it was also huge that we lost naxx, it was also huge we lost msog and shamanstone cards
I am actually waiting for the loss of single card win condition.. the bad thing is control warlock loses almost all his cards :/
I'm going to miss the death knight cards in a weird sort of way

Im mostly excited to see Lord Jaraxxus make a return. Nothing beats shouting oblivion.
That's Incredible!

I tried having fun once. It was awful.

Golden Hero Collections thus far; -
Europe: Druid, Hunter, Paladin, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, Warrior (9/9)
Americas: Druid, Mage, Paladin Shaman (4/9)
Everywhere else: Workin on it.. (0/9)
