Yes, they have gone too far. Their profit margins are off the damn chart. You need to spend a couple hundred dollars to get most cards in any set.
These days you get a top-rated AAA game for $80 with all its content. $80 in HS gets you 60 packs, or most commons and rares, and some epics and legendaries.
You're fooling yourself if you think you're getting the better end of the deal. But what choice do we have when HS has literally no competition out there?
Said it before and I'll say it again, Scaphandre is a Communist. He admitted openly in his thread about this topic that he has the money but is refusing to spend money to get what he's complaining about out of protest. Too fucking entitled to see clearly.
Just because you want something doesn't mean you should be able to have it on your terms. That is so fucking entitled, and it's hilarious that a Communist can't understand this when it's a solid part of their identity.
Well this came out of nowhere (even though I agree with the statement), I didn't read anything about our commie friend in OP's post. This feels incredibly out of place xD
As for OP. I have to agree and I showcase the fact that like you said, we didn't get jack shit for other expansions, hell for adventures people never got anything for free. Blizzard are really doing an amazing job with promotions and ingame events, so NO the game isn't dying because Blizzard have started to care about f2p consumers.
There will always be negative people (just look at our commie friend) because this is the internet and people seem to forget that they are not anonymous and everything they say, search or type can be tracked. F2P players are sad because some cosmetics are out of their reach (and the grind is real) and P2W players are sad because they feel there should be more done with the game (and they have mountains of regret pilling up).
Nice wall of text you have there. Maybe work on making it legible next time and I will bother to read it.
What I read when I saw this. "I am a lazy piece of shit who wouldn't be able to read a book even if my own sad existence was on the line, I'm also so sad that I'm somebody who's currently being paid to spread negativity throughout this game community because the people who hired me have no faith in Artifact actually succeeding" ;)
I can understand the opposition as they have something to gain. No matter how stupid their arguments are, or how ridiculous their demands are, they will be about more free stuff, better prices, better balance etc.Something you know...affects them.
But you constandly try to silence them,Why? Are you uncomfortable when someone criticises blizzard?Do you feel that this behemoth of a company will be threatened? Why you have to create these echo chamber threads all the time. Just search the threads and the blizzard defenders will outnumber by far the cry threads.
At this point, i believe that blizzard big fat black "pr" is far down to fanboys' throat that they can even think properly anymore.
There is no more Naxxramas, black rock mountain adventure who was very cheap in gold and cool to keep playing in F2P.
That was the first nerf F2P. (2800 gold for each wings was pretty cheap and cool!)
The second was 2x more legendary per expansion and now many deck needs 1or 2 of new legendary expansion for works because they are really OP! (Legendary has always been the problem to craft and now they are multiplicate by 2)
The third nerf, was overpowering all news cards and not only legendary. (That means you will more need the next extension than the previous, so that encourage you to open pack)
So I believe you can no more play HS, f2p except if you play a lot like streamer and specially in arena. And when you want ladder a lot you don't really want to farm arena.
So if you want all cards, and try fun deck building it s no more possible. You will have to dust some classes and in the future you will be able to play only 2 or 3 max. (And for people who are already playing 2/3 class you are going to play only one.)
Except if you put maybe 120€ every expansion. It's like 40€/per month. It's decent.
But you can't say Hearthstone is a real F2P if you need to play it 8 hours per days. And when gold give you "advantage". (more deck = more adaptibilty for counter the meta in your rank)
My opinion is hearthstone will die in 2 years, because people will become bored to decraft and decraft. Having less and less cards for follow standard format.

They haven't gone too far because card games have always been a Buyer's Club. Comparing any card game to a AAA game/title is foolish because they just don't compare, nor will they ever in regards to gameplay and content. Spending hundreds of dollars on cards for a card game is the norm. Also, Hearthstone doesn't need to be competed with. There are many card games to choose from. Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic: the Gathering, Pokemon, Force of Will, Gwent, Faeria, and many more. Competing with other card games makes no sense because each card game is astoundingly different with few similarities. M:TG has been around for over 20 years and people still play other card games, even though M:TG is arguably the best card game out there.
Said it before and I'll say it again, Scaphandre is a Communist. He admitted openly in his thread about this topic that he has the money but is refusing to spend money to get what he's complaining about out of protest. Too fucking entitled to see clearly.

I only bring up Scaphandre because the title of this thread almost completely and directly references Scaphandre's thread, where he complains about how Mecha-Jaraxxus is locked behind a paywall. Scaphandre's the same person that calls people who disagree shills. I could spend all day talking shit on that daft Communist because it makes me feel so damn good.
Since adventures were traded for expansions, the game has certainly been thrown wildly into somewhat unsavory territory. I don't really agree with this happening, but since this has happened, we've had free content like the Dungeon Runs spring up. I don't really know if I feel this is a good thing, something I can agree with. The game, while it has gotten more expensive, has been giving F2Players more opportunities to earn things for free, certainly. It's nice to know that Blizzard is trying, even though there are things they could certainly be doing better. I blame Activision.
Concerning Mister Lurk, he always leaves some amount of negativity or nonsense behind. He never comes back, either. Always flinging shit and running. He's one of the few people who have no place posting on Hearthpwn. He doesn't hardly belong here because he doesn't care to do anything but act like shit.
Do you think people who pay money deserve some special rewards (cards backs/ exclusive heroes)? Do you think people who don't pay anything at all should be able to get these items for free? Do you think Blizzard are milking the playerbase with all their recent bundles/ Twitch partnership? Do you think Blizzard have improved the f2p experience at all since they games launch with promotions etc.? Why do you think both f2p and p2p players are so negative all the time?
The blog is a bunch of questions for people to ponder and think about.
Good deal with the new bundle? How it's reasonable spend 200-300 $ every 4 month without getting all cards? Still talking about money in this game. Never worth. Packs are like loot box but worse because you need to play. Something is moving in other game, will see.
Only 200-300 $ every 4 months? Jeez. Have you never played Yu-Gi-Oh or MTG? Lol. People spend that much on a few box sets at a time and don't get every card. 'Packs are like loot box but worse' by far is the most ridiculous arguing piece. Are Yu-Gi-Oh or MTG packs considered 'gambling' or 'loot box' but IRL?!?! How are they still in business?! Easy, because it's not a loot box. I'll give it to you f2p people. Comparatively the cheapest of the top 3 card games, and still not happy.
On-Topic: I think the game is fine. Even when I was F2P, I never complained about not getting heroes for free. It's like those fancy awesome play mats people use for Yugioh or MTG. I never had one but, I never had that kind of money at the time. No one to blame. I honestly think they'll eventually give up Mecha J for free in the future. Maybe like 1-2 years down the road.
O have no fear I know exactly who he is, I did also read that whine thread that the mods locked and he is EVERWHERE, if there is anything talking about payment or cosmetics/ bundles he's there ready to call Blizzard some flavourful names and also ready to call anybody that disagrees with him a shill or just "part of the problem"... it's fucking AMAZING. Whenever I see a post he made I get all giddy because it reasures me that even though I'm not the cleavererest knive in the crayon box, at least I'm not that dull.
As somebody who's living in a country that's on the brink of full on communism myself, it makes me feel so good as well to see them get halted at every and any hurdle.

Feels like a "take 2 steps forward and 1 step back" situation. Since I got a job and I've learned to appreciate the adventures more, but there are still some people who can't grind or spend that amount of money for them, so it's tough for myself to say. I also blame Activision for the most part, but I'm not ignoring that Blizzard could have done something along the way a long time ago.
Concerning Mister Lurk, he always leaves some amount of negativity or nonsense behind. He never comes back, either. Always flinging shit and running. How is a Hearthstone pack different from a loot box? You can buy it for real money and it contains random in-game items of highly varying value. I think those are the essential characteristics of a loot box.
It's been years since I played MtG, but back in the day, while packs were extremely expensive, you would at least get the same number of commons, uncommons and rares from each booster. In Hearthstone, a pack can contain anything from multiple legendaries to 40 dust. Even the worst legendary will give you enough dust to craft an epic of your choice, so getting a legendary is always at least as good as getting any card of a lower rarity level.
To return to the original question:
I really miss adventures, those had a really good money to value ratio. But apart from that, I think today with bundles and more attractive pre-orders, you do get more value for money than in the past.
Regarding the current bundle though, I don't think I'll be getting it. Frozen Throne has been out for so long, by now I have crafted most of the cards I really want: I looked through my collection filtered to show only Frozen Throne with the "missing" search keyword and while there are a few cards I'd like to have, there are also more than a few useless cards I could get. So I'd be buying mostly dust and even at half price, buying dust is too expensive for me.
The point I dont get when I read all the posts of complain because of the price politic of blizzard is, that soooo many people buy these things (me included) what makes this game stay alive so that everyone (especially f2p players) can keep on playing
I'm ok paying to Blizzard for the game i enjoy everyday.
F2P shouldn't get the same things as us
This guy get's it. From the moment I became F2P I told myself I will only be enjoying certain classes, which is simply a necessity. The game only sustains a F2P experience because of the parity to being a paying customer. It's really a non argument unless you want to bring up adventure vs 3 expansions a year in terms of a business model, and that's an entirely different subject, honestly a more interesting one.

I was f2p in KoFT just for necessity...I was hunter main (lol i had like 100 cards in total). That was very frustrating, because the big number of cool tech and decks...
3 months ago, i realized that this game is the only game that i really enjoy, and i want to buy some packs here, some old adventures there, because:
Team5 need money to sustain the game
I enjoy this game
I love having a lot of cards to mess around (praise you yogg)
Why not? I can afford this
However, i understand who want to stay F2P... But i hate when they say "WE WANT MORE YOU GREEDY BLIZZARD"
No, you should just grind. F2P is about grinding to obtain the maximum reward everyday (60g quest). And Blizzard gave us a Free game with a lot of free contents. We just should be happy.
I played for this game a little bit more then a year. I have no top-1 decks and I have 3-4 playable decks, not because I want them, but because I randomly get some basis to craft a certain deck. I get a lot of dust after rotation that helps me a lot, but I cant play wild anymore and never again, because I dusted all the cards from rotational expansions.
My friends telling me they never be playing HS because its too expensive and slow to collect cards and its holy truth.
Besides of all I like the new strategy of giving free legendary cards and some bundles. I dont think they gone too far, the game itself is expensive and it is normal that it stays this way — that all, period. 2 choices: you complain like a girl or you play (or quit) like a man.

Why do people feel the need to bring gender into defending their argument? Men and women and girls and boys and chimps and apes and dolphins and all sorts of animals quit things. Think you're a little behind the times there buds.

If you thought you knew what you think I know, then you'd know I knew you knew I know.
I dont mind quit things, but when a man cry about something he couldnt get (skin, bundle, etc.) that makes him a girl. Man needs to do something and go forward, but not cry, thats why men are here on this planet.
My point is that crying does not lead to anything. How can we influence or how did someone influence the company's policy in terms of money? This discussion is meaningless. You either play this game, or you do not. But when a person still plays and whines, does that mean he's a whiny girl?
Or do you want to discuss the so-called equality of the sexes? :)

SWEET BABY JEEBUS how ass backwards are you?
Not only did you fail to grasp the point of the comment made by Dendroid but you then doubled down with your behind the times sexist bullshit. Then raising the equality of the sexes which has literally nothing to do with how men or women react to things.
But when a person still plays and whines, does that mean he's a whiny girl?
Let me answer this for you, possibly, if that person is A - a girl and B - whining. If that person is a man then there a whiny man

Arguing on the internet is like playing chess with a pigeon. You may be good at chess, but the pigeon is just going to knock all the pieces down, take a shit on the table, and strut around like its victorious.

Haha)) where are you from? I guess we never undestand each other because of mindset
