Hi everyone! I'm going to start by saying that I'm actually really angry against the opponent I've just played...
We were having a normal game, no complains, no emoting... He was a shudderwock shaman. On the end of the game, he was on fatigue and still had not played Shudderwock. Considering it was it last card on his hand, there was nothing to think. But, instead of playing it he waited until the last second and therefore burned half my time.
Even he would have played it at the start of that same turn, I had nothing I could do to counter it, but it made me angry he waited until the last second to do it...
After all this story I come up with an idea, taking into consideration blizz is listening to players and changing things around... Could it be that battlecry effects end when the turn's time ends? So, if you take to long to play cards like this (even Yogg) and takes too long, just cuts it, so it makes players play it faster.
Yes, I know that a part of that consumed time is because of animation time, but something should be changed.
What do you think? Maybe I'm way wrong and it's ok... maybe Shudder should only play shaman battlecries? Maybe I have to accept that this cards is a painful play...

Are you absolutely SURE that Shudder burned half of your time? As it not just that it 'ran past' the time they had but you KNOW that you ended up losing half of your actual 70 seconds due to the battlecry?
If so, that's a bug that needs to be reported.
The way the mechanic is supposed to work is that the animations don't eat up opponent's time. Effectively, a quasi-additional time is added to the opponent's turn where the opponent can't play any cards but it's still 'their turn' to give the animations time to end before the next turn. We got to see it in play a while back due to an odd bug where the rope would 'reappear' after a turn ends if the animations were still going.
The point is, no matter how long the animations take, you should still get your 70 second turn. If you know you didn't, that's a bug that's working against the game mechanics and something blizzard can, and will, fix. They've done the same with other effects. The only effect waiting till the end to play shudder walk should have is just an extended BM similar to waiting till the end of the rope to concede. Which is annoying but nothing to completely change how a major part of the game works (and ruin A LOT of tournament play given how top players tend to think out their turns and use the entire time).
So either it's something that you need to report to blizzard to fix or just a part of multiplayer life that is to be accepted as the solution will bring more problems than the initial problem.

You must be right... Maybe I just felt like it burned my turn's time just because it took an eternity... I'll pay more attention the next time it happens (hope it never does), and see how much time left of my turn is after all those animations...

Actually you don't have to assume I'm right. I'm not flat out saying that what you saw was incorrect, just that if you DID lose time that it's not something that Blizzard decided to do that we need to change, but a bug that Blizzard just didn't find. And I can say that because we HAVE had a good few animations that HAVE eaten into other people's time (some to the point where you literally lost their entire turn).
I don't think Shudderwock steals time given how bloody often people have been using it, including in tournament settings, without a clear issue with the turn timer. But it has happened before and probably will happen again.
The big takeaway is this: If it's something that messes with a main mechanic, like the turn timer, check up on it like you did here. It might be a bug. Or a visual issue. Either way, better to know.
I could believe it. Although, it wouldn't just be a Shudderwock issue. During the Shadow Reflection brawl we had recently I had one priest opponent who attempted to skip my turn since it was clear they weren't going to be able to beat me. They spammed Shadow Visions repeatedly to discover more Shadow Visions and by the time it was my turn the rope instantly started burning.
Yeah animations skipping over turns has been a thing for ages now. It used to be done with Nozdormu, and then when Un'goro hit, Shadow Visions joined the skipping turn crew. Not really much to do about it other than click on the cards as soon as they show up and bitch about it to blizzard since it's been a known issue and still hasn't been fixed.
As for battlecries canceling out once the turn ends, this simply would not work due to latency and networking and stuff. Like if I had horrible internet, and you played 4 battlecry minions, they could go off for you, but due to my bad connection, they do not go off for me until the rope has already been at the very end of the area because the rope is client side.
As for changing Shudderwock, I think the card is fine, and the bad thing about the card being in standard is the lack of counterplay for control decks. The deck has to get really lucky to win against most aggro lists and changing the card would only make it even worse of a match up (unless it was a buff, which isn't happening). Simply putting in Dirty Rat back into standard or some other disruption card like this could easily give control decks a way to counteract the deck without ruining the deck.

I don't have something witty about this deck, I just like it because Malygos is fun.

you need to up your APM game (just kidding)
Well blizzard listening to players (Amen)
if the battlecry doesn't mess up I would concede to that as it's no point wasting your time.
For example, in this weeks brawl if my opponent goes first and plays UI, I concede straightaway... Don't wanna suffer the misery of being OTK'd.
I guess the same goes for shudderbroke shaman
As soon as I see Shudderwock I unplug my computer and spend time with my family.
Anger is the punishment we give ourselves for someone else's mistake.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
