I'm curious as to the amount of people that play while drinking/intoxicated. Also, I'm curious as to if you're aware of the ways in which it inhibits your ability to play.
For the people that don't want to comment, I've made a poll.
If you do play while drinking;
Do you switch to casual from ranked?
Do you switch to arena?
Do you normally play ranked but, due to inhibition, switched to ranked with a new sense of Leeroy Jenkins?
Do you go to casual purely to play a SMOrc deck you've built and watch the RNG happen?
I, myself, tend to keep playing ranked (to my own demise) and typically switch to arena or casual after losing a few matches. Depending on what I feel like playing. I have a Yogg control mage that I love to play as well as a burgle priest deck. Arena is always fun, but I can only waste a couple rounds of gold on it before I get discouraged.
My biggest downfall drinking is that I lose the ability, after a while, to anticipate plays. I switch to the mindset of "use all of my mana" rather than anticipating plays or I'll sometimes try for big combos, rather than sticking to curve and playing what my sober mind knows I should play.
The only mode I ever play drunk is tavern brawl when there's crazy rules like Valeera's bag of burgled spells for instance because I thoroughly enjoy shenanigans like that when drunk. I learned my first time to never play ranked drunk if I take myself seriously 😉😆
i mostly play ranked and arena anyways, brawls for free pack and never touch casual, doesn't matter if i'm drinking, smoking or sober. I play this game since beta, multiple times legend and i'm long past rank anxiety.
I disagree respectfully with your TL;DR, more people should play ranked drunk. It's a great way to learn how to take the game a touch less seriously.
Plus when you go on those drunken win streaks you feel even better. Just try to remember the next morning that you played drunk and that's why you dropped 4 ranks.
But you should always ladder responsibly and never drink and smorc.

I don't get anxiety, but I do notice that I make bad plays a little more often (obviously). I played during beta, started again a few weeks before ungoro launched, and I'm rank 7 currently. Hoping for the first time legend. I do enjoy a casual game here and there with ridiculous decks.

Ha! I concur. I did the TL;DR for, what I thought, would be the general population.
I've never dropped 4 ranks, but I do enjoy playing while drinking.

Good brawls are definitely a solid choice. Completely forgot about brawls.

I've never dropped 4 ranks, but I do enjoy playing while drinking.
Happened to me I think about 5 or 6 seasons ago. I had hit rank 5 and was feeling a bit anxious so I decided to have a couple drinks to take the edge off. We'll a quart of rum later and the edge was gone but so was most of my critical thinking and I plummeted in ranks. It was end of the season so I didn't bother trying to climb again and just messed around with whichever deck looked fun that day.
not my proudest moment in my "hearthstone career" but one I will always have to remind me that it is first and foremost a game to enjoy.

I once started playing drunk. I started at rank 5 and reached rank 2. It was cool because my top was rank 3 and never legend. I reached legend some days after that for first time.
On other ocasion I defeated some heroic bosses from BRM which I had problems with.
I work 10-12 hours a day and most weekends. So by the time I get around to 'stone at night, I'm either drunk or stoned myself. This is a game, after all.

Standard Legend - July '16 (Rank 56), June '17, Dec. '18, Apr. '19
Wild Legend - Mar. '18 (Rank 30), Apr. '18, Aug. '19
Twelve Arena Wins - Shaman, Warlock, Mage x2, Rogue, Priest (12-0), Druid, Hallow's End x2, Hunter, Taverns of Time x3 (Pa,D,WL), Paladin
I mostly stick to casual if I'm drinking. Weirdly enough, though, my overall win rate while sauced is fairly high. I think it's because, at the end of the day, I'm an above average player, but when I'm sober, I tend to overthink things and second guess myself. Drinking gives me the boost to believe in my booze-filled (but apparently very competitively viable) dreams.
When I play drunk I always wake up the next day with new cards. Because I'm dumb. I'll try to make a new deck and notice I don't have a card and need a few dust to make one.....so I buy 40 packs. What the heck is wrong with me.
I play drunk constantly! I honestly prefer it to playing sober, I don't over think plays, keep my turns simple, and stay relaxed when RNG doesn't go my way. Playing while stoned tends to produce better results, however......i always play ranked casual seems like a waste of time to me.....win/lose doesn't matter because on the 30th/31st rank resets anyways.
As for deck type I prefer more control/tempo oriented decks when I'm intoxicated......it comes from years of playing all sorts of games under the influence. I feel a strange feeling of Zen when I play any type of game under the influence if drugs or alcohol....almost like my mind clears and I'm acting purely on instinct.

I do that as well, but drunk me likes to go overboard crafting cards for a deck that sober me doesn't want anything to do with. So I end up wasting 3k dust in a sitting for a deck i'll likely only play for 60g quests.

Memorial day weekend NA - Enjoy those wins!
TL;DR - Don't play ranked drunk. Thoughts?
