After a failed Kabal week... Do you care to make an attempt at Jade Lotus?
I am a bit frustrated with the endorse strategy.
The leadership of this project failed in a couple of ways.
1. The Blizzard team did not clarify how many endorsements are needed. Instead the community was given percentages and the goal was set at a vague "100%". I still don't know what 100% represents, if it is a firm real number or if it is a number that fluctuates on previous endorsement weeks. I can just image some pencil-pusher standing in front of a power point presentation in Irvine giving a talk to a panel on how successful Kabal week was because thousands of people participated in this community event. (Regardless of how of this event made the community feel.) We don't even know if the success of one week influences the expectations of weeks to come! That matters and would change how people vote/endorse.
2. Pits the community against Blizzard. Endorsing isn't voting rather it is an exercise of setting vague expectations on a community to see if they can rise to it. If the community doesn't rise to Blizzard's expectations, Blizzard doesn't reward those who participated thereby punishing those who care. The other promos have placed users against users and the loser just had to wait until the end of the week until all the cards were released. That was a good promotion. In this promotional event losers/(the entire hearthstone community) find that their card will be revealed in weeks to come (aka soon-ish.)
3. See other people's comments below
May have design flaws in failure including a domino effect or learned helplessness. If one endorsement fails it may discourage the community to try again next week. Creating a negative feedback loop. The community is stimulated to click the endorse button for the sake of learning about a new unknown card. The community is given a bar that fills up which acts as a sensor which tells the community where they are at. Third there is a control which responds either achieving or failing to reach "100%" and gives either the card reveal or not. Finally the effect of the response feeds into how stimulated the community feels to click the endorse button.
If Blizzard decides to do this again: please give clear expectations and clarify if we need to prioritize our endorsing.
However, I hope you stick to the releasing cards one week at a time with people voting on what order the cards get released... Don't punish those who care.
Thank You for reading. Please let me know what you think and how you feel.
Unlike the 1 vs 1 reveals from TGT or the weekly reveals of WOG where the card with most votes were first revealed, here the vote accounts for nothing. The system is stupid.
I understand people didn't vote. Blizzard should understand that they messed it up too, but instead they revolve proudly "it is your fault, you didn't vite enough". The fak is wrong with you, Blizz? It's your fault, you failed to come up with a cool reveal game.
I voted no, because the endorse system Blizzard implemented is inefficient and I wanted them to realize that.
They should have given 1 goal for the whole week instead of us voting every day to get the bar fill up to 5 times a week, not to mention you cant endorse anymore once they have reached the daily limit, not everyone have time to do that. Not sure what they wanted to achieve with this system that they change it from the old one.
why i have to go vote every day for a card that will be revealed either way in the end? i think most people have better things to do than vote daily for a hearthstone card. i mean yeah im looking forward for the next expansion and all but i think this voting thing is plain stupid
The system is completely stupid. However, I will vote using automated script almost 24/7. I just want to get information about as many new cards as possible and I am much above being angry at stupid marketing department of Blizzard. Really not that much work is needed on my part.
They will know it's stupid regardless - their idea was to create hype, but it's nothing more but a bunch of people autoclicking the stupid button from the same IPs over and over. Of course, they can't change the campaign mid-point - so I would just play it as is.
They might be stupid, but not totally insane - they will analyze the data and make conlusions regardless of will you be on your little angry strike or not.
No fucking way. I voted a lot for the Kabal, I really wanted to see the Warlock legendary. I voted every half an hour so that they reveal the legendary. What did Blizzard do? Screw me and everyone that voted over. Fuck'em.
The TGT system was the best - by making the community choose between two cards, you incentivitise people to vote more instead of free-riding on other people.
If they put faction leader to be revealed then I will vote a lot. If they put class legendary from the class I don't care about (like they did with warlock) I won't vote. That was the main problem with Kabal vote - warlock is not so popular amongst the majority of playerbase.
The system is boring and rigged, that is the bar segments have different values.
It would be better if they would just release a card per day and every other day a legendary.
edit: not endorsing/voting for cards as I don't like to take the job of promoting their games for them. How about showing some TV ads like in asian countries?
The system will be changed come next expansion anyway. They have always changed it after. Sure it is stupid and nobody likes it, but I am curious about the cards and so I will vote with the script that I made. I will even open a thread on this on Monday. The script votes about 100 times in 20 minutes, so if you have any idle PCs you can exploit the system. What is stupid about the system is that you don't get a guaranteed card and on top of that you have to vote 5 times to get it (without workarounds), which might even result in you not getting it at the end of the week anyway. This is the difference w.r.t. previous systems, but I am thinking that the one failed voting and the data they will get from the IPs that voted will discourage them from such dumb marketing practises.
Let's show Blizzard what we think of their system ;).
Another reason not to vote is its actually more fun for me to see the system fail again than the card reveal, because you gonna see the cards few days after the voting is over anyway. Im just curious what Blizzard gonna do about it.
1.) The voting system is simply crap! Instead they could have put 3 cards on the vote, and then you need to decide if you want to join the Goons, Kabal or the Jade Lotus 2.) Jade Lotus contains Shaman cards.
Never "voted" for this in the first place, its stupid. Kinda surprised though the voting was not rigged, this is essentially them admiting their shitty marketing strategy failed to create enough hype for their cards.
Well, can't wait to see Kripp react to all of this.
I just don't know what they were even thinking. I don't see how this would ever get me to advertise this game to my friends. And if I'm not, what's the point?
I like the write-ups. I don't care too much about the story and certainly won't care to watch videos. But if they did some cool things I may just share.

This entire systems is boring as hell.

Greatness, at any cost.
I voted no, because the endorse system Blizzard implemented is inefficient and I wanted them to realize that.

Agree with all of you! TGT and WOG votes made sense, but this one just makes the community angry...
12 wins in ArenA with: Mage and Paladin, first time legend with Rogue

Never say "never say never"
I agree that the system is stupid. I just hope they learn their lesson and lower the amount required significantly.
People who refuses to play aggro out of principle are even worse than people who play exclusively aggro.
One should seek to become a complete player and play all archetypes, including ones that he despises for whatever irrational reasons.

Of course not. Happy to see not voting worked this week.
A bit surprised, but happy.
No, voting for card reveals is stupid. The expansion is right around the corner. They are not not showing the cards. All will be revealed anyway.
Another reason not to vote is its actually more fun for me to see the system fail again than the card reveal, because you gonna see the cards few days after the voting is over anyway. Im just curious what Blizzard gonna do about it.
Love the game and blizzard , but not gonna vote everyday to get 1 card reveal.
No.
1.) The voting system is simply crap! Instead they could have put 3 cards on the vote, and then you need to decide if you want to join the Goons, Kabal or the Jade Lotus
2.) Jade Lotus contains Shaman cards.
Both are equal reasons not to vote.
Never "voted" for this in the first place, its stupid. Kinda surprised though the voting was not rigged, this is essentially them admiting their shitty marketing strategy failed to create enough hype for their cards.

My custom cards thread here (53 cards)

Not gonna share useless and boring stuff though.
I learned my lesson. I'll never vote multiple times and waste my time. In blizzard's case i'll never vote at all.
