You need to get basically get 6 wins to get your money back.
So you have to be really lucky. You might say "Just don't play it if you aren't good" but someone is going to get under 6 wins and by someone, I mean like... the majority of people. So now you have a bunch of these people that are really salty, including these people that get 1 win, and basically payed 10 bucks for a pack. Then there's going to be the people that get 11 wins. How is that bad, you might ask? Well.. Here's the difference of 11 and 12 wins.
11 wins: 16 packs, 480 dust, 480 gold and 2 golden legendaries
12 wins: 50 packs, 1100 dust, 1100 gold and 3 golden legendaries
So in one game of a difference, you get 34 packs, 620 dust, 620 gold and a golden legendary. That's like... a lot of money. I'm not sure how much difference that is in the US, but in Canada that's like 70 or 80 bucks.
So 70 or 80 bucks decided by 1 game. Remind you of something? Yes, gambling. Are
Are you ready to start gambling on a kid's card game?
this whole thing is a good idea but executed poorly. Tournament style games are good, as MTG and many other card games have shown, but these stakes are HIGH above anything the other games have done and when you lose in this you lose a whole lot harder too. This is just really badly done.

It's not just gambling but definition of anti fun since it's in standard format wich means everyone will use strongest netdecks and tech cards against said decks. Blizzard took lazy route as usual, if it was in wild format with extra rule set like in Kripps Challengestone then it would be interesting atleast.
In the U.S. 34 packs is between 20-50 bucks (15-40,packs) but yeah I see where the anger is coming from. Not only is it 10 buck to play once but also its limited amount of time. Reaks of cash grab and this is coming from someone who doesn't care that much, but it's kind of an obvious cash grab no matter what angle I look at that. I don't even want to imagine how hard it would be to get rather high when it's filled with mostly high level of players. XD
As much as it's gambling, it teaches children (and many other older players) to take risks sometimes for some added value. It is gambling after all, but nobody forces you to play it. That's how it works.
Same is with Rank 6 and Rank 5 rewards. Just one star below and you won't get a golden epic.
I personally feel that if you think you can manage at least 4 wins, then it's worth risking. While 5 packs, 190 dust and 190 gold isn't great, it's not a bad tradeoff for the 1000 gold you spend upfront and at least you get the opportunity to go higher. Another way to look at it is 810 gold for 5 packs and 190 dust. IMO, that's really not too bad considering that along with it comes the opportunity for much better rewards. The trick is being able to get the 4 wins. You have to average over 50% win-rate and many people, even when playing tier 1 decks, simply don't.
My personal issue with this Heroic Brawl is it is literally just standard. Which means all we'll be seeing is the top tier decks we see at Rank 5+ anyway. In fact, we'll, see more of them because the stakes are way higher than traditional standard. Now while the rewards are potentially amazing, the experience to me just doesn't sound that fun.
On top of that, this format severely handicaps players with weaker collections. Since players are building their heroic brawl deck with their own collection, only the players with the cards to build those top tier decks will be able to compete. Now while it's not hard to save the dust to craft at least a single top tier deck, I'd prefer a format that isn't quite as biased. I mean, would it really be that bad to allow players buying into this heroic brawl to just have access to every available card within the confines of the brawl? I don't think it would.
I have no problems with this tavern brawl and I think it will be more fun to watch streamers on twitch for this but I won't participate myself.
I think of myself that I can play quite well and would have a chance for a high winrate but there is still a ton of luck in this brawl, no mather how good you are. + I don't think that I play the game often enough at the moment to make a perfect meta read.
I kind of don't get the extreme hate of some people for this brawl since nobody has to participate but I am not thrilled to play it myself.

Yeah don't feeling the hate makes me obviously dumb. Thanks for enlightening me. Maybe you just have big anger issues because of real life problems and are now randomly insulting people in the forum because you are anonymous. Who knows?

I think the high entry is designed specifically to limit the player pool - it's like the high stakes tables at the casino with the heavy buy-in, so the legit players can go head to head, without worrying about the tourist lucking into a pile of their cash, or just messing up their flow. In theory, the people who play this want to take their best to play the best, and the rewards are just gravy.
I will be tempted to play - I'm kind of a gold hoarder anyway, I usually keep about 5K sitting around. But I know I probably can't get more than a couple wins, simply because I don't have the experience playing the top end decks against other top players. The 1000 gold might be enough to keep every Tom Dick and Harry from copying a Dragon Warrior or Midrange Shaman off of this site and scoring a few wins based on good draw RNG.
I think you should get a cardback for scoring a 12 win run though. I always think there should be cardbacks.

Streamers already get sniped by viewers who recognize the streamers name and that is over a much more trivial thing like 1 arena win or 1 ladder game so now that the reward has been cranked way up the likelihood someone who may have done the honorable thing and not sniped goes way down.
So yea streamers might stream it but odds are their streams will be a ton of QQ about being sniped and probably won't result in 12 win decks.
I could be wrong about this but I just think with the reward/punishment cranked way up the player pool will be real small by the time the novelty of the first round of this wears off that no streamer will get anywhere live streaming it shortly after launch.

The Tavern brawl rewards list is the front page
Not receive your money/gold back when you have few wins is not the problem, high risks high reward, it is a game after all.
But I think Blizzard can make better rewards for few wins (starting 3 packs) and less reward for 12 wins.
