I played HS for about two weeks back when WotOG was around, and then dropped it, only to pick it up again a few weeks ago. So my collection is still pretty dismal, in general, and I have a very low dust supply (<1000). I opened a Lunar bundle last night and pulled four legends, including Genn Greymane, but it seems every deck out there that includes him includes a ton of other cards I don't have, and I'm still way too noob to have any idea what makes good replacements... I built a halfway decent midrange/face hunter with the cards I have, but I really would like a deck that utilizes at least one, preferably a couple, of my legend cards for the occasions when I'm tired of the hunter and looking for a change/distraction. I've looked at my cards a bunch of different ways, but I'm still very new, don't know the meta yet, and hardly have a good grip on building synergy. Seriously, we're talking maybe a month, month and a half total experience in the game. I'm a HS baby. I realize that.
So, I'm looking for help. Any ideas on where to start based on my collection? I don't have a class in mind yet, as it seems most, if not all, even decks rely on many cards I don't have (you'll note I'm fairly stuck, perhaps unfairly, on using the Genn Greymane). I'm really open to any class, probably other than Hunter, just because I'm already working on that. Any thoughts to get me started? And it does NOT really have to be an even deck if I just don't have anything that will work for it. Any legend I have or combo of legends I have would be awesome. My only real caveat is that I would rather keep crafting to a minimum as I'd like to save for a good legendary after the rotation, and certainly don't want to craft anything that's disappearing from standard in 2 months if it can be avoided. Other than that, I'm all ears.
I agree with Tardis, you should wait till april rotation. Meanwhile play budget-hunter (only commons) or enjoy the arena. Make sure you'll earn every free pack and collect all the gold for next xpac.
Thanks, mavericace. I'll definitely look at that. I appreciate it.
Tardis and Gilbie - oh, I totally agree and plan on grinding my way through quests and every free pack I can manage, and I am mainly playing with the hunter deck (which is indeed predominantly commons). All I was looking for was some fun in adding another playable deck, hoping to get some use out of my legendary cards to add a little thrill to the play. I know what I'm supposed to do, and I'm perfectly OK with endless grinding, but, c'mon, it gets boring eventually. Gotta change things up every now and then. Even if just for one casual match or something every once in a while. Tavern Brawl helps, but I'd rather get used to cards in my collection rather than something the devs come up with, you know? Anyway, thanks for the replies.
In the spirit of taking a stab at a fun (i.e. Casual) deck that used a lot of your legendary cards, I ended up with this nightmare amalgam (that doesn't include Nightmare Amalgam):
It's a combination of Even Pally for the early game/aggro match-ups and then Immortal Prelate Pally for the late-game/control match-ups. We don't have all the essential cards for those decks so I tried to piece things together using fun stuff from your collection. However, I don't typically play a lot of Pally so I'm sure this deck could be improved by people who actually run those builds.
Basic strategy is to Hero Power whenever you can and fight for the board early-on. If you gain control, by all means start buffing your Silver Hand Recruits and go face. However, there's also a ton of card draw in the deck to get to your main goal/engine of fun - Immortal Prelate. The card draw is there because we only have 1 Prelate and we don't have Crystology. Your goal is to get Prelate killed (by your own Hammer of Wrath if need be) so that when you play Da Undatakah later it inherits Prelate's deathrattle and gets shuffled back into your deck for repeated fun :D
Mulligan: You're going to be going all out in your search for Immortal Prelate! However, if you're playing a class where you're really nervous about aggro (e.g. Pally, Hunter, Rogue) then I'd also look for Dire Wolf Alpha to buff your recruits or maybe Belligerent Gnome to stall. And if you think you're in a control match-up (e.g. Warrior or Priest) I'd probably keep a cheap card-draw card like Novice Engineer or Loot Hoarder.
Strategies:
You're obviously going to Hero Power on Turn 1 and then hopefully play one of the cards mentioned above on Turn 2 (Dire Wolf/Gnome or card draw).
On T3 you'll hero power and try to get another two-drop out (preferably one with card-draw like Flash of Light).
As soon as you have it, you'll almost certainly want to play Immortal Prelate. However, the big thing to keep in mind is that you don't want to get it silenced, polymorphed, or hexed. As a result, I'd recommend not buffing it the first time you play it so that your opponent is less tempted to use one of those cards (you can also consider killing it yourself w/Hammer of Wrath like I mentioned above). This is another reason to try to buff some other cards on Turn 4 (looking at you Blessing of Kings) to try to bait them into using their silences elsewhere. I've only included 1 other deathrattle minion in this build so that you have the chance of drawing Immortal Prelate a second time and actually applying some buffs before killing it off so that you get the best of both worlds when you play Da Undatakah.
Deathwing is there for some legendary board clearing power on Turn 10, but with the added bonus that you'll return some beefy cards to your deck if things go well with ze Prelate :)
This is all going to be pretty hard to pull off consistently, but hopefully those few games you do will be extra worth it!!
That's awesome, thank you for taking the time to put that all together! That sounds like lots of fun, I'll definitely be giving this a try a few times. Thank you again!
This is the best Even Paladin I can think of from your collection. It could be improved even with simple common cards (2xHydrologist, 1xArgent Protector, 2xBonemare), not to mention rare cards (2xSpikeridged Steed, 1xArgent Commander), but it might get something done.
In general, Even Paladin can be built without any other Legendaries than Genn and generally without Epics too, although Corpsetakers are quite good.
Like the post above said, Even Paladin is pretty decent. I assume you have some dust to craft essentials like Spikeridged Steed and Equality if you don't have them already?
Thank you guys very much for your suggestions! I sincerely appreciate it. I'm definitely going to look at these as well. Regarding the crafting of a couple rares - yes, I should have enough dust to cover those, that might be a good plan. I'll have to think on it as I'm generally fairly dust-poor, and have been hoping to save up enough to craft a useful legendary after the rotation and after the meta settles into place. A couple rares, though, shouldn't affect that too heavily.
Thanks again!

I think the best thing to do is to simply play your quests and earn as much gold as possible till early April when the new expansion is expected.
Rotation time equalizes the field a bit. You still have an uphill struggle ahead, but it will be a tad beat easier.
I could hit rank 10 with something like this from your collection.
Obviously it isn't ideal but it isn't a bad start if you want to mix things up a bit.
