Overnerfed. In standard I don't see why they would nerf Raza but leave Cubelock untouched.
In Wild wich is where this nerf really matters, Cubelock is already topdog by far (turn 5 2x Mal'ganis is a common sight). And this is just Cubelock's first expansion, it can only get stronger and evolve as more cards are released.
Get ready to welcome your new warlock overlords. After nerfing their main counters you are going to wish you were back to facing Razakus Priests and turn 2 Corridor Creepers.
Sorry, but no. Cubelock is quite bad against many decks, that includes all priest decks NOT only Reno-priest. Malygos-druid for example.
Also you can't really tech against both cubelock AND Reno-Priest.
Quite bad? If you look at the matchups for it in any meta report or at it's winrate in HSreplay it's quite the opposite. It's just good overall and strong agaisnt most decks. The only real unfavorable matchup post nerfs will be tempo mage. And if it becomes prevaalent then cube will just tech against it!
And how do you even tech agaisnt cubelock? Silence effects? Weapon removal? Good luck outvaluing them then as well as any deck that have no targets for those.
For example Entomb. And don't forget: we have right now 4 working priest-decks. 1 of them got nerfed. And all 4 of them are strong against cubelock. The biggest issue of hsreplay is that it only shows a fraction of players, mostly the one who is already good at this game.
In the end: we don't know yet what will happen in the meta. Cubelock should be nerfed yes, but it does not mean it's automatically tier 0 in wild. Like said before: there are some decks that are good against cubelock but bad against highlander. With the nerf of raza, other decks might shine. And like said before: Priest is favourable against cubelock with nearly every deck. Big Priest, Spiteful Dragon Priest, Combo (dragon) priest is quite good against it. At least it does have the same winrate against cubelock as highlander had.
Right, but the decks that shine are crazy tempo decks. So now we'll have Tempo Druid, Tempo Rogue, Tempo Priest even (the big spell deck). Just not sure not doing anything to Warlock was the best idea. I suppose Taunts we'll become slightly more valuable... as long as there is enough tempo vs. quest mage etc... Or I could say exodia mage, since there are 2 flavors available now.
I'm so glad i pulled Raza a month ago, Shadowreaper was my free DK but i never used him plus I hate singleton decks. Probably going to turn this puppy into a Kingsbane so I can Smorc in style.
This card will rotate out in 2 months...they nerf it for wild mode.
It's ******** really, they let it be in std but god no it goes to wild where the meta is so huge that it can EASILY balance itself, let's destroy the deck, the same as oil rogue got NUTTED with a stupid Bade Flurry nerf when oil rotated out, WE STILL GOT NO GOOD ROGUE WEAPON SYNERGIES...and Dean Fagala admitted that the rogue is the dumpster class of HS where all the trash cards go... unreal.
In my opinion, a proper nerf would be to make the first use of hero power cost (0) each turn. So that the second and all subsequent uses would cost (2). That was even its original intended use and would have preserved its usefullness for basic and Justicar-upgraded hero powers, while making insane combos with Shadowreaper and Velen impossible.
In the end i wished that raza's battlecry would reduce the cost of hero power by (1) instead of setting it to 1 as they nerfed it.
With this, 0 mana hero-power would still be possible if you manage to use his battlecry twice; like if you put him back in your hand or simply by playing him with Brann Bronzebeard. This way it would still be much harder to pull off the raza-combo, BUT it would be at least possible.
With this change you can't play raza simply on turn 5 and Anduin on turn 8, since both of them would reqire 8 mana cost and a card combination (or multiple ones)
Basically, a better lady of the lake now. Raza priest can no longer OTK you but it should be possible to do a TTK.
I knew there was other an card-related reason why i thought this was trash and seemed like something i did before Raza! HS devs clearly dont play tcg and probably not any vgames at all to have any idea what they are doing.
Sure cause Jade Druid hasn't been a thing for more than a year now and it hasn't been oppresive as shit either from time to time, your logic is amazing lol again hope you can still be so happy after 2 weeks of only warlocks and games of 20 minutes each.
I see the point of nerfing a card, but I don’t see any point of doing it NOW.. like, if that was done some time ago, would be much better and clearer to see how everything else shapes. But I understand why they didn’t, cause of Championship

Nah, opponent got Raza on 5 and Anduin on 8 and I still utterly spanked him with Dino Cube Hunter (trust me I don't play perfectly).

The only reason that makes me happy is the fact that i have 2 raza, so it's an extra 1200 dust for me. Otherwise i would have welcomed much much more a nerf to Anduin. Like, REFRESH EVERY TIME YOU CAST A SPELL. Or (as i always said) nerf Velen (double THE HEALINGS of your spells and hero power, or double all heals and damages OF YOUR SPELLS ONLY). It's such a shame, cause cards like Palestress and Champion Nexus Saraad are super fun to play.

Raza was a fine card .
