Spawn of Shadows + ping (5 mana 6 damage total), mirage caller + ping (9 mana 16 damage total), 0 mana spell + ping (10 mana 26 damage), and then you can get the coin from gilded gargoyle and then you use that with another ping for 36 damage in one turn :).
Honestly thought this is one of my least favorite types of nerfs. The power level probably needed to be lowered however I probably would've thought it would be more interesting to do something like lower the stats and increase the mana cost significantly. Make Raza's body nearly irrelevant and have it cost a lot, but keep the effect the same. So the deck is now harder to play and you have to survive longer without a constant source of free heals early on. However you have to get rid of all combo otks don't you blizzard?
In wild is more difficult make that without committed suicide in the way.
Well, you don't have to worry about this deck anymore. Raza Priest will be dead upon arrival to Wild. There are simply too many better deck archetypes that exist in wild that can outdamage Anduin.
In wild we have reno jackson, its a nice addition to the deck.
I'm a Wild player and despise Machine Gun Priest, but I don't like this nerf.
Raza was perfectly fine before Shadowreaper Anduin came along and even caused a card general seen as terrible, Shadowform to see play.
Reno Priest was far from a problematic deck when the only hero power upgrades Priest had were Justicar Trueheart and Shadowform. It's the devs fault for releasing Shadowreaper when they knew full well that Raza existed.
There are more elegant solutions for a nerf that dealt with Machine Gun Priest while leaving the spirit of the original Reno Priest intact. Making Raza only cause your first hero power each turn to be 0 mana. Making Shadowreaper Anduin's Hero Power deal 1 damage.
I will admit Raza limited design space, this nerf just feels sloppy.
With this nerf Raza priest will be completely unviable since it will be impossible to beat control and OTK decks after nerf and win rate of Raza deck is below 55% vs. aggro decks anyway. This nerf will make priest a T2 class again.
I never played razakus. And I get tilted when I loose against it. But I think this nerf is wrong, because there was a better solution. That Raza only reduced to 0 the "current" hero power. Now a decent archetype seems completely lost.
I also understand that nerfing patches meant this nerf was 100% necessary (oddly enough, it might have also done the Corridor Creeper nerf unnecessary, but I had to craft that card so I am happy with the nerf). Still, a part of me Reno Priest does not become Tier 4 obsolete.
I mean, this nerf should have happened shortly after Frozen Throne released. Better late than never! I didn't actually think they would go through with nerfing 2 legendary cards just a few months before they're out of standard, though.
Good. Was thinking it should cost 7 and only apply to current hero power so it also has to go after Anduin, but this limits the stupidity of the pings for the most part and stops the turn 5 heal, turn 6 dragonfire + heal, turn 7 scream + heal that made it very oppressive against faster decks. If only they had done it in September when everyone said Priest was going to be stupid with all its counters nerfed it would have saved us from five months of unbearable.
Such a relief this one. No more sitting behind tauints at 30 hp and getting killed in 1 turn with no board presence. It's a significant nerf for Razakus Priest but I think it will still be played ( maybe tier 2? ) . 1 mana Shadowreaper hero power can still deal 6-8 damage per turn pretty easily and that will kill control decks that don't draw a lot of their healing and it can deal with boards from midrange/aggro decks. It will be weaker against aggro/tempo decks before you play Shadowreaper though because no more 0 mana heals from raza for tempo but all those decks will take a hit from Creeper / Patches / Bonemare so that will be fine I guess.
I think they nerfed the wrong card. Raza was perfectly fine before Death Knight Anduin rolled around. The Raza hero power is a nice tool for dealing with Aggro decks, allowing you to fit in a few heals while playing AoEs and improving overall survival. It is not these types of decks that have the most issues with Raza Priest. In fact, they have some of the few decks that can match up positively against it (ie. Tempo Mage). It is your slow, grindy control decks that get absolutely slaughtered by Raza (ie. Cubelock). This nerf hurts the Raza vs aggro matchup more than it hurts the Raza vs control matchup, which is really unfortunate. The Death Knight is the card that is carrying this archetype. Being able to blow up a board of big minions on command is already a nice effect, and the hero power is just disgusting. I have won plenty of games where I don't even draw Raza and just combo off with some low cost cards. They should've restricted the refresh on Death Knight's hero power to spells only or something.
Okay, i just played wild for 2 hours after the nerfs where announced. It was rank 4-2. And 70 percent of the decks I played against was naga, giants warlock with doomguard and voidlord. Not many cubelocks. Blizz now have to chance naga back or this is going to be a fun meta. Against Reno priest you could have your own combo to counter it. But the only thing that kills a 6 8/8’s and a 5/5 I lightbomb - which deck just got nerfed. It’s a hard matchup for Reno priest now. But after the nerfs, impossible.
Nerfing Anduin would be better. People may still find some ways to abuse it in Standard, Raza on its own is quite ok - just see how Reno Priest wasn't even tier 2 before KFT.
This card will rotate out in 2 months...they nerf it for wild mode.
It's ******** really, they let it be in std but god no it goes to wild where the meta is so huge that it can EASILY balance itself, let's destroy the deck, the same as oil rogue got NUTTED with a stupid Bade Flurry nerf when oil rotated out, WE STILL GOT NO GOOD ROGUE WEAPON SYNERGIES...and Dean Fagala admitted that the rogue is the dumpster class of HS where all the trash cards go... unreal.
I would hate to see the old blade flurry in kingsbane rogue which honestly couldn't have been created if they didn't change blade flurry. So your rant about no good weapon synergy is you just talking out your ass.

The change is exactly what was needed.
BUT WHY THE F*CK NOW???? YOU LET US DEAL WITH THIS CANCER FOR A YEAR, AND NOW YOU NERF IT BEFORE IT ROTATES???
I wanna glide down, over Mulholland
I wanna write her, name in the sky
I wanna free fall, out into nothin'
Gonna leave this, world for awhile

CCGing since '98.
As someone who mainly plays Wild, I am happy about this. I honestly didn't expect them to change it at all.
I guess they care about Wild more than I thought.

good job on the nerf but a lil too late i think
i disagree. The spawn of shadows combo is still insane, although I can see velen being dropped in a lot of lists.
Justicar also has antisynergy with anduin, and I cant imagine they would cut the DK because it still has the disgusting board clear power.
Rip Highlander Priest
Not all those Who wonder are lost.

You can still OTK, Emporer Thaurissan+Spawn of Shadows+Mirage Caller+Mind Blast and if needed Holy Smite
RIP Razakus Priest, goodbye and never, ever return.
