The fact that this is the most hotly debated card in Frozen Throne saddens me a little because it is so painfully obvious that it's a mediocre card. It's not one of those 'wait and see' cards, we know the exact statistical implications of the effect but people are going to continue to ignore them because of the off chance it burns a 'key' card in combo decks, of course ignoring the much more likely scenario of it pushing your opponent closer to those key cards.
Nearly 75% of the community think this card is very good or meta-defining. 75%! Pains me.
Mark my words you'll see this in highlight reels by the end of the month where it kills an Antonidas or something and the comments will blow up with "SEE HOW GOOD IT IS?!" and they'll still be utterly wrong.
Not even an aggro card in the slightest so not sure what that's meant to mean. That said it's not a control or midrange card either...it's just a bad card. Can't leave this thread alone, need people to understand why they're so unbelivably wrong... it's a sickness really.
"Meta-Defining! 39.9%"
I mean, come on guys. Just sit down and think about what the card actually does.
Let's say your opponent has 15 cards left in his deck and needs to draw a specific card to combo off / win.
By playing this you have a 1/15 chance to deny the card and 14/15 chance to bring your opponent closer to drawing it.
This is a statistically awful battlecry effect. Yet people will play it and remember only the one in a million games it won them.
The battlecry is not awful. Since it's equivalent to discarding from the bottom of the deck, it literally does nothing, as long as there is no deck manipulation, tutoring effects, or fatigue. Though, I suppose a battlecry that does nothing is pretty awful.
In the face of tutoring effects, it has a very minor upside, but the tutoring effects currently are rare and weak enough that it can be discounted.

I've never been a MTG player, but I wonder if when Millstone was first introduced or viable if people had the same overreactions and now that they're so used to it, it's less of a big deal? Give it a few expansions and I'm sure people will look back on this card and realise they massively overrated the effect it has.

At 628 posts and growing its pretty certain that this card is going to be complained, talked , salt and peppered about quite a lot.For me its just a poor design and suffers from the same issue as caverns below of ZERO interaction.
I suspect it will be nerfed about halfway through the expansions run after everyone has crafted it ,
Id rather see a battlecry, destroy the next minion your opponent plays or similar that's an interactive version and with deathrattle has a certain amount of risk.

If thining your deck was the most important thing in Hearthstone then everyone would be running coldlight oracle. It can be important in some decks but not all, its against the "not all" thinking control decks that this card will be effective.
an interactive version and with deathrattle has a certain amount of risk.
Yeah, a Deathrattle would've felt like you had some sort of control, even though basically the effect would be the same, but less tilting. Plus you could've used some card draw for a chance to draw an important card before this died.
Anyway, aggro doesn't give a rat's ass about this card, but control and combo decks could get wrecked by it. We'll have to see how unhealthy it will be. Dirty Rat was also deemed unhealthy, but it didn't turn out to be THAT much of a concern.

I didn't slightly suggest it's the most important thing. Even against decks that don't particularly want thinning, this isn't effective unless you go to fatigue. People get that and they're messing with me right? The idea that this trash card would possibly get nerfed...how do you even get there.

Im saying its the Blizzard card that everyone will run, it will ruin the game for people and after everyone has spent money dust or whatever to get it blizzard will nerf it.
Its a selling tool , i get the stats and fully understand the percentages etc its the total unintercative nature of the card that's wrong, something Blizzard are well aware of yet keep doing and then nerfing its a pattern they rinse and repeat at every expansion.
Hopefully you understand that Blizzard are a "for profit organisation" ?

A card this bad will not get nerfed. I can only hope people will realise how little this card does once it is actually released and stop playing it. I really don't look forward to facepalming every time my opponent removes a big card and emotes "oops".

So you don't want him to burn your first random card, but the third random card? Okay...
And don't be afraid. Gnomeferatu is much worse than dirty rat.
I honestly can't believe that the average hearthpwn user understands the game so little that 73% of the voters see this bad card as "very good" or "meta-defining".
This is just so ridiculous, can't wait to revisit this thread a week after release, when 73% realize how wrong they were.

I think you are mistaken. This card can instantly win the game through RNG, thats why the votes are like they are,
Its a 2/3 body so pretty standard for a 2 drop, looking at warlock which 2 drop is strictly better ? looking at Neutrals what card is better ?
Yes the "odds" are 1/26 but it still has a chance, if it was a Demon it would be even better.

I can't formulate it any better, so I'll just quote the quality post from achan1058:

If people understood the concept of your cards in deck being in completely random order, the poll would be more accurate.
I'm willing to bet literally anything that this card will suck.

Well, this card does nothing most of the time.. or almost nothing.. by revealing the discarded card you know one card from the opponent's deck thag you don't need to play around, which could be usefull in case of removal, board clear or a finisher..

People who refuses to play aggro out of principle are even worse than people who play exclusively aggro.
One should seek to become a complete player and play all archetypes, including ones that he despises for whatever irrational reasons.
