For practice at playing quickly. I love it when Nozdormu hit the board and I can take my full turn with time to think about stuff. More intriguing is a legend-rank player who is not already quite familiar with the practice.
It's not the speed of the plays, it's the thought behind them.
Now, when I say "oppressive" I don't mean overpowered. I'm talking about cards that completely change whatever plans you may have had before just because your opponent played them. For me it's Northshire Cleric. This card is the best 1 drop out there because your opponent can literally play nothing with less than 3 attack on their turn or else they risk giving you draw power. In case you missed the prefix, this is standard only, otherwise Tunnel Trogg would be on the list. This list includes only cards that are strong based on their own effects and doesn't take into consideration interactions with other cards (such as patches or shadowstep). Sorry Rogue and Shaman your 1 drops aren't great by themselves. If I missed any you feel are good drops feel free to post them
Maybe combine Aluneth with King Togwaggle and swap an empty deck for a non-empty one? I don't think mage has a reliable way to burn the Ransom spell though. Kabal Lackey plus Counterspell might work but only if the opponent is careless or has no other spells in hand.
You could use Aluneth with Deck of Wonders to draw the shuffled spells sooner. On average those spells will help you more than they hinder you, but it is very unreliable. And unlike Yogg, you cannot choose the moment at which the RNG strikes.
I've played a lot of games with cubelock from rank 5 to 2, and honestly Umbra is mostly used as a pseudo taunt against aggro decks. It's very few games I've utilized the ability to gain value.
don't you mean rin? umbra isn't a taunt minion.. or do you just mean as a decoy that kind of acts like a taunt as in people attack it?
When I play Curious Glimmerroot, I just pick the card I need. Otherwise, it'll be dead anyway. So there is nothing fun from watching me "fail" such a task...
Lol, what? How is gaining cards a disadvantage? Why would you purposefully choose the wrong card - for example, if you're playing vs tempo mage and pick Flamestrike instead of Fireball?
The OP talks like everyone plays the same netdecks where we know the exact decklists; but Glimmerroot's cards might (RNG of course) become harder to guess if you're, say, playing in a tournament with a couple of odd tech choices or changes to the popular decklists...I've had players guess wrong when playing against me and I was playing for example 1x Bonemare in Quest Warrior; they probably had that and some taunts or something more "normal" as choices.
Glimmeroot only shows class cards, so not bonemare.

Terrible idea, need a to have something like you and your board takes 2 dmg at the end of every turn.
2
It's a discount some mana for the draw and play. It's not terrible.
