I understand nothing really compares to what Dr. Boom used to be back in the day. I'm more curious as to what people feel is the most powerful cards currently in Hearthstone and why.
In your opinion, what is the most powerful common card and the most powerful class card, statistics aside.
I mean, before there were a ton of cards which were ridiculously powerful. Mad Scientist, Piloted Shredder, Sludge Belcher, etc. Enough so that these cards were found in almost every deck. Do you think now that there aren't really any overpowered or unbalanced cards?
Personally, I think something like Power Overwhelming is insanely powerful still, being only a cost of 1 mana. I think that would be my class choice. Patches the Pirate is something I currently think is rather broken and found in lots of decks.
I think you missed his point... the point is not that Dr. Boom is THAT powerful... there are definitely cards that match his power level today. The point is that they are actually printing some good cards now so there is no equivalent "this is the only non-sucky card that will fit in most decks"
Small-Time Buccaneer. It's this little fakkit that breaks the meta, not Patches. Just count the damage every game he does if not removed early.
I would agree with that. If you don't draw an answer to this little guy it makes it very difficult to recover... which makes almost any deck with out multiple one drops too slow, at least unless you get lucky on the draw... which adds more random crap RNG to the game.
Muster for pirates is overpowered. I used to think that that silly 3 cost card that gave you a couple of 1/1s was tough, but now on turn 2 or 1 on the coin my opponent has a 3/2, 2 1/1s (one of which has charge), 3 pirates for synergy, and a 1/3 weapon.
Yep ! it's one of the most ridiculous RNG openers ever. and about the only thing it's vulnerable too is innervate swipe, a ridiculous RNG counter.
First of all, Dr. Boom wasn't what made the card itself powerful. What made it so ambigiously powerful to the degree of being a universal card was the meta in which it existed in. So ... no.
If Dr. Boom were still in standard, it would see play in nearly every deck in this meta except the superfast aggro decks that top out at 5 mana. Dr. Boom would be powerful in ANY meta.
I don't know that any cards are overpowered currently. I think several card interactions are overpowered. The N'Zoth's First Mate + Patches + Coin + Southsea Deckhand/Small-Time Buccaneer opener that Warriors can pull off is pretty ridiculous. But then again I'm not much of an aggro player, preferring midrange or control so my own biases probably come in to play here.
I primarily play Wild and Dr Boom is rarely played there anymore.

Boom was and still is the most broken OP card in history. He outperforms 8 and 9 drops including Ragnaros. Any big legendary that gets rotated to wild will just be dusted and see 0 play. There's not many OP neutral classic cards left, but still alot of OP class cards. Warriors need their winaxe nerfed to 3, their berserker nerfed to 4. Shamans's flametongue needs to cost 3 as it's as powerful as mana tide. Hex needs to cost 4 as it's equal to poly. Power overwhelming needs to cost 2 mana, it's an autoinclude.
Most overpowered neutral card : auctioneer - in some classes you can almost draw your whole deck with this card
Most overpowered class card : jade idol - counters all control decks, mage class cards in general.
in arena : vicious fledling and most mage spell cards as a whole.
For wild neutral cards : azure drake - fits in any deck and is a counter card in the midgame to priest and doctor boom which is always a good card to play on curve.
Yes a card in a tier 2 deck that sees no play outside of one very specific deck is clearly the most powerful and universally run card without a doubt.
On a more serious note, it's probably patches the pirate. When decks like aggro druid run a really crappy 1/2 pirate just to get the patches swing turn, you know the card is powerful. Heck, I saw a hybrid mage running it for weapon removal + deck thinning.

Being in a tier 2 deck doesn't mean anything. This card gives you infinite value, infinite cards and infinite stats for only 1 mana. It makes control archetypes useless. Jade Idol is a class card pal, and it also needs some setup. Of course it will be played only one specific deck. What kind of a stupid comment was that? If you need any proof, just look at win rate of Jade Druid against control decks (Priest, Paladin, Warrior and even Mage). That would be enough. Do not bother to find it I am giving you the link: http://www.vicioussyndicate.com/vs-data-reaper-report-56/

It does matter because a card is only good if the deck involved is good. Also, being good against an archetype doesn't mean that the card is overpowered. According to the same site you try to use as proof, Jade druid has an abysmal 46.6% winrate at legend. It gets stomped by just about every tempo deck. Mid pally, token shaman, aggro druid, silence priest, miracle Rogue. Every deck that can take board in a meaningful way. Heck, control pally and priest aren't even that bad against jade druid according to Vicious Syndicate. Heck, I could argue that Jade Idol isn't even the reason the deck is as good as it is against control.

Azure Drake . It's everywhere for a long, long time. Other contenders seem to be made OP on purpose to force card rotation.
Playing Hearthstone in German solely for Garrosh sounds. Sieg oder Tod!

Absolutely Jade Idol. No doubt about that.
Stonehill Defender - You find it in aggro, midrange, and control decks. I've literally seen it played in every class besides Mage.
Whoever runs Stonehill defender in Rogue or Hunter is stupid. They have ZERO class taunt cards.
Conceding since July 2014.
Why on earth did someone feel the need to necro this thread? Savannah Highmane was and still is the most powerful card in the game.
