And speaking to the OP's point; yes, I too am concerned that the only balancing Blizzard is considering is to introduce more and more broken cards to the mix so that Wild becomes an all-out arms race. At least in the double digit ranks I see a very nice variety of decks with a lot of experimentation and casualness. It all changes though as you get close to Legend.
I really dont recognize the lack of diversity youre facing..here are my distributions from wild ranks this month..currently rank 6 and missing about 10 games i played from tablet
This is my impression too. Overall wild seems far more balanced than standard. The exception might be druid, the classic nerf were a bit overkill - I think they could have left Ancient of Lore as it was and maybe even keeper. They were strong to be sure, but I don't think they would have been auto-includes in standard that defined archetypes of their own.

Seems a fair distribution to me, considering the many different builds each class has. Feel sorry for druid and rogue, even if deathrattle rogue and token druid are still playable.
Hunter n zoolock confirm to be top tier. What are you playing?

This is still foreign diversity to me. After a few more days of playing since I originally posted, I still almost never see priests, druids, warriors, warlocks, or rogues. Lately even shaman and mage has been a rarer sights. The majority of my games are against paladins and hunters. I guess I'm just getting unlucky as far as diversity is concerned. I've gone from rank 12 to rank 7 in the past two days, and it hasn't changed much.
I mostly see Priest, Warrior, Mage, and Paladin in Wild.
Following by Warlock, Shaman, and Hunter.
Barely any Druid or Rogue in Wild.
Druid already establishes its place in Standard, so it doesn't feel the need to visit Wild yet. There is more concern about Rogue, which is currently in bad state in both Wild and Standard.
Im climbing with a Secret Paladin in Wild right now. From 15-3 i faced about 6 of them so no its not only palafins in wild. I faced alot more Priests and mages
I see a lot of deck variation in Wild - more so than standard.
There will always be the meta players who do nothing but go Secrets Pala (or Aggro Shaman/Zoo in standard), but that is part of the ladder. Tech in an Eater of Secrets and be a boss.
As far as Blizzard nerfing cards to adapt to Wild I think yes, that will happen. Decks will get out of control, but this is the nature of the Wild format - but certain changes will have to happen due to overpowered combos that far exceed their mana cost. A few more powerful secrets-related cards for Paladin and Mysterious Challenger will get targeted. He should have been a legendary in the first place, anyways.

i wouldn't worry too much, they'll eventually have to print defensive cards with the power level of Healbot, yogg-saron and sludge belcher if they don't want players quitting their competitive scene due to it getting into a stale aggro vs aggro race like they're doing now, remember that that was a massive problem when we had the classic set only (and when they nerfed warsong commander, both times) and is a massive problem now because the classic set doesn't have any decent defensive tools anymore or at least in not warrior classes (r.i.p Savagery and bladeflurry.).and if they do add powerful defensive tools to make other classes keep up with standard, wild will have those powerful defensive tools plus the already known healbot and sludgebelcher and lightbomb if someone decides to pay those along priest, also eternal formats always get bans more readily than standard formats.
This seems a bit weird to me, i play both wild and standard - but I'm not facing that much secret paladin (I'm facing around 35% secret pala atm and 25 % Hunters) If you face that much secret paladin and midrange hunter you should play a counterdeck to beat em up :P I'm seeing a lot of Patron Warrior, Reno decks and Control priest's - What ranks are you playing at? :)
Wait you don't think 35% of your games is a lot? 35% secret paladin 25% hunter means almost 2/3s of the games you play are going to be against the exact same 2 decks being played in the exact same way. Would you play any other game if this was the case? I get bored of playing the same deck for extended periods of time and it's especially boring if I'm playing the same deck and constantly going against the same decks.

It doesn't seems like that much to me, back when Undertaker Hunter and Miracle Rouge was un-nerfed i face around 75% of just that one deck... That was annoying, facing 35% Secret Paladin and Hunter just means that i should play a counter-deck to those classes. Also i keep on playing different decks when i play wild, so it almost never get's boring. :P

Fair enough but since Naxx they've added 508 cards if I added correctly and there is only 923 cards total. So since undertaker hunter first became a deck the card pool has more than doubled but that led to only a small increase in variety. The current top 2 decks are being played at almost the same frequency as the old top 2 decks but with more than twice as many options for cards. I just find it very boring, especially secret paladin which basically plays itself. I believe secret paladin is the only deck that a bot could reach legend with because of how straight forward it is.
If wild was truly as some of you were saying ("combos early in the match ending the game") then we would see that. We don't see that. We see secret paladin.
Wild used to be fun. It's not anymore.
As for tempo mage, hunter, etc.. We could play vs. these classes if we weren't having to tech heavily for secret paladin in order to win the majority of our games, which are secret paladin.
Until mysterious challenger is dealt with, wild will continue to be boring and annoying (boring = not fun, by the way).
My understanding is the devs are proud of the different ways we can play the game and understand the pro scene is a small fraction of players. I think they will fix wild, I just hope they do it soon. It's a shame.

Dependable loan sharks since 1960. We sink our teeth into every deal we make.
