I finally hit legend, on the last day of the season. As promised, here is a run down of the meta, namely the decks I faced from rank 5 to Legend. One important note: There are not many players in NA Wild -- it was not unusual for me to face the same opponent 2 or even 3 times in a row. I could be at Rank 1, playing a Rank 5, or when I was at Rank 4, I was pitted against a Legend player. This created numerous problems with figuring out any consistency in my opponents' decks. Also, I do not believe there are more than 175 Players to have reached Legend in NA Wild. When I just hit Legend, I was given 92, go figure.
Deck I Used: Patron Warrior
Record from Rank 5 (and 2 stars): 48-24 (66% win rate)
Warrior: 5-4
I mostly ran into other Patron warriors, maybe a few control warriors. Nothing out of the ordinary. Some ran Eater of Secrets, which proved to be a waste. All in all, I was surprised I did not face more control warriors, because the deck did well against Patron.
Hunter: 4-6
This was my worst matchup. All the opponents were Midrange Hunter, and used the deck similar to standard, but with Mad Scientist and Haunted Creeper.
Druid: 2-2
2 were token druid, the other was one player I played twice who ran a Beast/Midrange Druid. It was not a bad deck actually, and we split the two matches. Never saw C'Thun, or anything close to it.
Mage: 9-0
All the opponents were the usual Flamewalker, Spell Mages. This is probably Patron warrior's best matchup. I only saw one Freeze Mage, which is again, a good matchup for Patron.
Paladin: 19-6
Mostly Secret Paladins up until about Rank 1, where they began to phase out. I began to see more N'Zoth Control Paladins, which proved effective at times, while others, I would just speed past them before they had the opportunity to heal.
Shaman: 2-1
I saw this class the least. It was always Aggro Shaman, and it was fairly easy to beat. Basically, the same deck as the standard version, but with Crackle.
Priest: 4-3
I lucked out here, because this is also a bad matchup. For whatever reason, my opponents had all the wrong cards. The only version of Priest was N'Zoth, and it is easily a Tier 1 deck.
Warlock: 3-2
Faced mostly Zoo, and one Renolock. The Zoo decks were nothing impressive, though I would recommend the Leeroy burst version, because the deck seems to do well early, but cannot keep up for long. I was usually hanging on by about 8-10 health, the Leeroy could take care of with Power Overwhelming.
It's hard to say what is and is not Tier 1. I would say Patron Warrior, Midrange Hunter, and N'Zoth Priest. However, there was really no consistency in opponents. Below are my last ten opponents before hitting Legend.
Midrange Hunter - W
Spell Mage - W
Zoolock - W
N'Zoth Paladin - W
Patron Warrior - L
Freeze Mage - W
Midrange Hunter - L
Zoolock - W
Midrange Hunter- L
Secret Paladin - W
The Wild Meta is tough, but was enjoyable, and it turned out not to be too polluted with Secret Paladins after all. There were many decks prepared to deal with Secrets (Kezan Mystics, Eater of Secrets, and Flare).
I think i'm on your friends list actually, so congrats from crazyferrari! (the renolock wild legend guy, also the only renolock that you faced I think)
Congrats on hitting legendary, what's even more amazing is you did it with no brawls! almost every warrior i've been matched up with runs double brawls, even the aggro ones. You may do alot better next season with two brawls, it's an "I win" card vs. aggro or if you fall behind.
I think i might have faced you as well, your btag looks familiar. I was playing patron warrior as well. Yea, the paladins I met at the end of the season were more midrange and OTK murlocadins. Mine was the opposite though, I was having an easy time with hunter and zoo but having problems with tempo mages
Thanks for the kudos guys -- my Battle Tag is Goose Snack. There's only so many of us on Wild, so it's good to see you guys around here.
I actually played Secret Paladin for a good while, but I'm embarrassed to say that after about 200 games I was stuck around Rank 4 (I think my win rate was barely 51%). The deck really isn't that good in the meta because so many people play decks that counter it, with the addition of Eater of Secrets. The N'Zoth Priest is very good, but the games were too slow for me, and I found it frustrating to lose after a 20 minute match.
As for Brawl, I did see some Patron decks run the card. I didn't bother because I rarely hit aggro decks. Those two Zoo decks I faced in the end were anomalies.
Sup crazyferrari! Good to see you. I tried your Renolock -- just could not get it to work. There was actually one other person playing the deck. You should teach a class on it because it's definitely viable. I could not figure it out for the life of me.
I've tried N'zoth Priest myself, the games take too long and hunters really take care of them, so I see less of them as more people played hunter. Two Call of the Wild is usually too much for the priest to handle.
My journey was quite a ride, I was rank 1 and two wins away from legend. Then I tilted back to rank 4. But thankfully, I took a day off and got back in calmly playing and thinking about my plays longer. Got 7-0 and 11-3 runs the next two days and got back in from rank 4 to legend :D

How is call of the wild a problem with 2x Lightbomb ?

Seriously, the tilt was awful. I think my worst was Rank 4 down to Rank 8. Those are some nice win streaks - did you face Midrange Hunter often? I found that matchup quite difficult.
I can't believe you had a hard time with Mage -- although i think I always had a Fiery War Axe when I needed one. That combined with Blood To Ichor would take care of all Flamewaker. Shows how much RNG makes a difference.
Usually they waste their lightbombs on Highmanes and Dr.Boom so if you get two call of the wild in a row, the priest is pretty screwed. Anyway, that's what I've noticed, as more people started playing hunter, there were less priest which is good for my patrons.
Yea, I was running a list with lower mana curve than yours. I have problem with flamestrikes clearing my Patrons. Also had problems with arcane blast and frostbolts clearing them too. I don't have Loatheb, Dr.7 and Bloodhoof Brave in my list which are less prone to AoEs.
By turn 5, I have no trouble controlling the board and I usually have my patrons out already, so the highmanes are easy for me to handle. I also run unstable ghould which helps a lot vs hunter in the early game.
I've checked my game history and I did play you at rank 8, you were playing paladin while I was playing zoo, lol.
Almost forget! I faced absolutely no Rogue decks from Rank 5 until Legend. I do not know if anyone has suggestions, but is anyone playing a viable Rogue deck in Wild?

People have become so sick and tired of Paladin that they are teching in 1-2 eater of secrets. Others are running spellbreaker, ooze, Harrison, even blood knight. Even with decks countering Paladin, he's still 15-30% of the meta depending on the time and day. I also noticed some Paladins are running Nzoth instead of Boom so they can res their entire board of creepers, shredders, belchers and tirion. Nzoth is an "I win" card even more than Boom if you survive to turn 10. Board clears don't work well due to their stickiness. The meta is mostly aggro, so its a shock you didn't hit many zoos.

Wonder when will people learn eater of secrets does absolutely nothing, it's a complete useless card, even vs secret paladin, you win by board control, same as before.
Could you make a guide to your deck because I get how to play it but still sometimes mess up on like the mulligan. Thx
Sure thing. I'll put up a guide tonight or tomorrow. As for a brief tip on mulligans, you always want Fiery War Axe. Best way to kill tempo on Spell Mage, Zoolock, Aggro Shaman, and Secret Paladin, which is most of the meta.

Gladly -- let me know if you have any questions.
Well played!

Best deck in wild may be N'zoth Priest and it's also the most annoying

I am not a Mage player, just thought my avatar would go with my name.

Looks like I'll need to craft loatheb again
Hi i have a quick question, i googled it, but couldnt find anything. Do you get the golden epic if you reach rank 5 in Wild?
Btw congrats to legend
