I'm going to keep playing aggro so I can avoid getting fucked by some card "created by" some other card that probably got created by some other card, etc.
Can't escape aggro, it's the cheap and easy way to play. This doesn't mean its for unskilled players, it just means it's easy.
Play minions, go face. Play minions, trade efficiently.
The other side to this is the "Instant gratification" crowd:
"OMG I had to play to turn (x) this game takes too long!!!" "OMG my opponent kept controlling the board that's OP!!!" OMG my opponent played a combo/control deck that's OP and takes too long!!!"
On a business level, aggro is the bread and butter newbie deck, it's the cheapest to build and the quickest to pilot. Without aggro new players would not be able to join in as quickly or effectively on ladder or other areas of the game.
I don't like aggro either I've been playing MTG since beta and I can't tell you how many aggro decks I have faced over the years... In Hearthstone it frustrates me to no end when I encounter 5 Hunters, 3 Paladins, and 7 Demon hunters all playing aggro.
It's boring, it's monotonous, it's tedious, and in my opinion the games go by too quickly... I do get a large amount of enjoyment though when I keep the board controlled and cause the aggro players to have to sit through 12-16 turn games...
TL;DR - aggro won't go away and it's unfortunately a necessity.
I play a fast priest... low cost high health minions with plenty of buffs and healing (including lifesteal). You can honestly feel hunter’s frustration as they themselves can’t keep up with trading. Also beat them with soul DH and soul Warlock. I’m not saying I don’t lose to them sometimes but majority of the time I swat them like gnats.
I agree with most everyone else that aggro is what it is... in the past I would say that the meta will change and everything is cyclical... but I honestly don’t know if Blizz/Activision will move away from aggro. It just attracts and retains more players.
Obviously not the most meta, but I've been playing heavily anti-aggro teched control warlock lists and hunter matchups are pretty well always a free win.
I've been playing a control Shaman variant with a lot of board clear and healing and it smashes aggro, especially Hunter and Soul DH. Hagatha's Scheme by turn 4 with coin or turn 5, followed by Witch's Brew on turn 6 to heal most of the damage you took usually forces hunter to auto-concede. And then there's good ol' Torrent for Dragonsbane. And if things get messy again, Tidal Wave to clear their next board AND heal. It's so satisfying.
I will dust anything, pls I just need to crush these hunters. Halp.
the game does not punish you for losing and D5 is basically given to everyone even with negative win rates. I'm already D5 and didn't even try. Play a deck that outvalues them plain and simple. They pretty much concede when my voidlord drops on turn 4 for free. Do I lose sure....you push the Q button again and you do that until you hit D5. I'm waiting for the 12th to hit so I can work on clearing the new reward system and collecting all the goodies. I hope this can be done with 15-20 minutes of time spent a day with the added tavern pass. Anything to do besides logging in once every three days to clear the quests while ranking to D5 would be welcome. Players who have everything are pretty bored that's for sure.

Halp.
I think Soul DH beats hunter, specifically. They have early game minions and healing.
Realistically, Soul DH is pretty solid all around.

Faster games=less RNG.
Sry.
Diamond by day 2 ignoring the board and going face like the degenerate I am. Apologies, I know it’s a no fun match-up, but Hunter is just freelo.
Control Warrior, Enrage Warrior, Control Priest, Soul Demon Hunter all have favorable mu's against aggro.
But sometimes ya just git got.

Cute, ineffective, but cute.
Aggro has no counters.
Soul DH absolutely stomps aggro. I don't think aggro can even win half the time against Soul DH

control shama, literally 30 cards of anti-aggro, no real win condition other than fatigue
https://metastats.net/hearthstone/archetype/Control Shaman/
this is the first list i found when i googled "scholomance control shaman", firebat & dekkster among others also have some videos on youtube
the deck is nothing but heals & board control, galakrond is played without invocations also just as an upgrade to the button
I bid you good luck!!
Thanks for all the replies guys!
I tried some games using Soul Fragment DH, and it's really fun!
I get some good results, but damn. Hunter still rushes me down.
Will keep at it. Gonna try Control Shammy as well.
Maybe it was bad luck/small sample size. Hunter is a really good matchup for this deck normally...
Holy shiiiiiet do i feel you brother...!
This Aggro bullshit going on right now is ... like the worst i've experienced it in 2020....
Echo what everyone else says with Soul DH. Destroys hunter.
aggro ?
Facehunter is the only „aggro“ deck out there atm
-No murlocs
-no zoolock
-no token druids
