I guess the sheer amount of awesomeness from old gods kinda makes me feel a bit meh about gadgetzan, but to be honest there are enough interesting cards to explore in this expansion. I mean, there are no old gods in this set, you know? Those legendaries are just so iconic and provide easy ways to start building decks around them... but after a while playing with Kazakus I can recognise that this is far from a bad expansion.
It is WAY too early for me to tell, but I like what I've seen so far overall. I do like that Blizzard has tried something unique to Hearthstone with the three different gangs in Gadgetzan and the tri-class card system.
I really like the expansion, but Id love some kind of tech option against jade decks. While I'd probably say that pirate warrior is the biggest threat to come out of gadgetzan, there are good ways to tech against it. Golem druid and rogue on the other hand just beat you if you play the wrong deck.
Outside of this minor complaint, Im loving a lot of the new cards and mechanics. The goons are a lot less straightforward than I originally thought, the kabal cards really fit my personal style of play, and there a lot of interesting changes in the meta. Overall, its a pretty strong expansion.
I would actually like this expansion. BUT people are rather netdecking than creating their own decks. Everyone playing Lotus druid for infinite value with auctioneer makes me FailFish every time, because I still kill them all. On the other hand, pirate warrior makes me FailFish as well because they just SMOrc. Then I have to own them with my reno deck. But all the other decks I play are really awesome. Like a lot more priests are there, many Renodecks, lesser midrange shamans and tempo mages involved here and there...seems that Hearthstone is kinda going to the right direction. Just needs to balance a few Warrior cards tough (as they did with Shaman cards)
people say that Old gods was a bad one but I really loved it, the Legendary cards where amazing and you got one free Legendary(which is playable and at one point was a top deck in the meta), I mean the expansion was amazing so far this one feels really underwhelming but too early to tell.
Well right now I don't like how you pretty much NEED certain legendaries for the new archtypes to work, especially with Mage and Priest. The fact that some of the best cards are Epic rarity doesn't help either.
It's a pretty good expansion honestly. Not any single card is overwhelmingly powerful from the set. The strongest card I can think of would be... Drakonid Operative, I guess? A lot more filler cards in this set though.
I do love the whole concept of the card for Kazakus as well, awesome! The idea that one can create a relatively custom-made card for a particular time in a game based on a variety of circumstances is fantastic! Moar!
To be honest, outside of Jade decks, most matches I face are so anti-interaction as it's just face face face or nuke the board Reno (4th minion played since turn 1). Jade deck matches are super reliant on who draws what first and how many of said those things.
Its a fascinating expansion with great flavor, but the until the meta settles I find it to be rather unfun to play in.
Kazakus is a home run. The highlander mirrors are usually pretty epic. Pirate Warrior and Jade Druid are both pretty boring decks but a part from that I think that Blizzard did a lot of right things with this expansion. They've re-introduced the Discover mechanic which is probably the best mechanic in Hearthstone by a long shot since it creates bigger decision trees. And by the looks of it, there are a lot of different viable strategies. Plus Priest is back without being as over powered as people feared.
So far I'm loving the new expansion. I think the new mechanics are interesting and add another element to the game. To me, the new archetypes seem more balanced in that each one has a clear weakness and at least one terrible match up against other viable decks. Imo this is a good thing.
Unfortunately I do think that Mid Range Shaman will still be the strongest deck until the rotation next year which is a bit of a bummer. Dragon Priest and Reno-lock will probably keep MRS in check which is great but overall, that deck is just too strong and its ability to get back on board with significant threats time and time again means it will still be around for a good while.
I am having a bit of fun I guess. But not so much. Its pirate, dragon priest and jade druid. And they push the meta in one very boring direction. I am so done with the curve decks. I hope I am wrong and the meta will be ok. But for now, blag.
The concepts of the cards are quite nice imo, I have no clue how they could overlook, that Patches is even stronger than the old Leper Gnome in cases of Aggro though. But the biggest issue....
As mentioned earlier: Hiding new mechanics behind Legendary Walls is kinda lame imo.
It's like C'Thun decks in Old Gods. You got C'Thun for free, but without Twin Emp the decks lost 5-10% wr.
This expansion you won't be playing any of the Reno Decks without at least Kazakus, most likely you need the class Legendary too. Jade decks without Aya just feels weird.
The only Tri Class Mechanic which imo can work quite good without their leader is the goons mechanic, but the only reason it can work is, that are able to play it aggro and Don is just too slow for Aggro ;)
All of that would not be too bad if there was a mechanic to avoid too many duplicate Legendaries, e.g. you can't open a duplicate legendary when you only have pulled 5 or less of the 20 Legendaries (when you disenchant sth this should not reset obviously). I am playing in EU, so no Triclass-bug, but I got 3 Kazakus ouf of my 6 Legendaries anyways. That sucks...
Kazakus is the most fun I've had in this game in a loooong time.
Even if Jade decks are really good against the Control decks I've been playing, it's still possible to eke out a few wins and try to pressure them the entire game.
From the way I see it, it's a real rock-paper-scissors meta with Jade Golems punishing Kabal control, Pirate Aggro punishing Jade Golems, and Kabal Control punishing Pirate aggro. Now each deck can beat what they're weak to with the right draw (and luck from opponent), and any lizard/Spock deck won't get immediately crushed necessarily either.
This is my favorite time to play Hearthstone right now.

So the long awaited storm finally hit, the bugs became apparent, the resolutions followed (kind of.)
In the wake of what has been loved by some and loathed by others, how are you currently feeling about the new expansion?
By all means go in to details!
Please don't tell my girlfriend about my card collection...

Just remember the good times!

Too many epic and legendary paywalls. it's going to suck keeping up with 2 expansions a year.

Make the Card: The biggest thread on the site!
My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.
Hate it.
Blizzard has clearly decided they want the game to be curvestone and favored for Druids and Warriors (as, well, always.)
There's no longer room for strategy or control.. just vomit out cards on curve or you immediately lose.
Pros: Kazakus - imo one of the best designed card ever, less Shamans on ladder
Coins: Jade Golem mechanic kill other Control decks and SMOrc Warriors and Hunters can do their job with smile on their faces.
Overall: 2/10, ok maybe 4/10..

Jade druid is a joke, seriusly guys

Back on topic: MSG = good.
Missing lethal since June 2015.

Aggro decks weep in despair as they face my Warlock deck and get wiped by Demonwrath, Hellfire, Felfire Potion, Twisting Nether, whatever Kazakus comes up with, and clean up cards from Kabal Courier and Kabal Chemist
