So I've been playing arena as a paladin vs mage. He had Explosive Runes active and I had Sword of Justice equipped. It was my turn and I played Murloc Tidehunter. And now the order of things that happened after:
Was the sword played after the runes? In that case it makes sense, because both the effects trigger after the minion is played, so the order should matter. (and the battlecry triggers before the minion is played)
I can't be sure, but maybe it has to do with the order between Explosive Runes and Sword of Justice? If Explosive Runes was played before, that means its effect happens just before the weapon's, resulting in an interaction similar to Finja, the Flying Star's interaction with old Murloc Warleader in the sense that the two events happen before the game "checking" minions with 0 HP and killing them.
Yes. Its is supposed to work like that. Secret will trigger first then your weapon effect because the secret reads "After your opponent Plays a minion" and the weapon reads "After you summon a minion".

The sword was played BEFORE the secret. That's why this interaction seems so strange to me.

Playing occurs first followed by summoning.
This seems like a reasonable explanation. I guess you're right, but still that kind of interaction is pretty unexpected.

We only are used to it because we already had our "WTF!" experience. SoJ resulted in a lot of Funny Videos about cards that can't seem to die. SoJs go off before anything else in the 'After you X a minion" trigger it seems. Thus the last thing that'll happen WILL be the buff.
Also weird with explosive runes: cant be blocked by Divine Shield. IF the divineshield monster has 4hp for example, you still get 2 dmg. So there is no way to play around that card.

f*in bullshit.
3 mana "Remove divine shield and do 2 damage to the hero" is not exactly a good value.
Also try playing Tirion. Then all it does is remove the divine shield and nothing else.
Though yeah, the card is insane :P
