On the forums for practical reasons people are always using names that shortly desribe the type of deck they are talking about: "Pirate Warrior", "C'thun priest (Wild)", "Reno-beast-rogue", "Kibler's KFT Mage", "Czech Global Games Finale Face Hunter" and so on. But I was wondering what are the people actually using in your HS collections?
Personally, I like naming my decks after movies or by using wordplay, although sometimes I use default names - like my Taunt Warrior is named "Guarding the shard" which is a default name for a taunt warrior deck recipe, even though I've changed at least half of the cards.
So, I invite people to share some cool names! My favorites:
- I know that the name "Yogg'n'load" was created independently by multiple people when Yogg was released (the deck includes Lock and Load spell). When recently hunter death knight card was released, I've added him to the deck and started calling it "Yogg, load and 2 stitched beasts" (after the movie "Lock, stock and two smoking barrels"). That is also when I found out that deck names have character limit..
- My jade rogue deck is called "jade, jury and executioner"
- Back in the old days I had a mage deck called "mad mage 2: spell warrior". Honestly, there is no justification for "2" being there other than resembling "Mad Max 2: road warrior"
- Naxx days deathrattle shaman deck, that actively used Reincarnate was straight up called "You only live twice"
- Since SMOrc hunter was the only effective way to build a hunter deck, I tried to create a control hunter deck and called it "face is NOT the place"
- Also, when I created a DeathRattle hunter deck, I typed the name "DR Hunter". Sometimes later I've noticed that I started thinking about it as "Doctor Hunter"
- although my elemental shaman deck is nothing craze, I like to spell it as "ele-mental", it adds a little bit of zing to it.
Just remembered one: Back when Warsong Commander gave all minions with 3 or less attack charge, even before Grim Patron was a thing, I use to have a deck where no minion had more than 3 attack, and its name was spelled: <=3
Obviously because of the "equal to or less than 3 attack" thing, totally not because of the childlishly funny shape of the characters
All of my decks have puns or cultural references as names.
For example, I have 3 Dragon decks (Priest, Paladin and Warrior), which are named : Dragonborn, Dragon Age and Dracarys (and yes, it was far before a "Dracarys" dragon deck got promoted on this site !).
I guess all of you can see where those come from. :D
My Raptor Rogue is named Jurassic Park and my Deathrattle Hunter is The Walking Dead. I'm always having a good time picking up names for my decks. But hey I'm a Timmy and I only play fun decks (most of them are not even Tier 3) in Wild. :D
Btw my choices of cardback is very important too : always choose a cardback that's beautiful and fits the theme of the deck !
I use brands like "Myllyn paras" (best of the mill, a local bread company) or random stuff i've picked up from somewhere like "will it blend?" for a cool old curator druid i made back in karazhan expansion. Have a seriously old reno greedydin i've constantly updated to make it as greedy as possible named "uncle Scrooge". Recently made a copypaste pirate warrior just for the sake of a few lk bosses like the one that can only be damaged by weapons, properly named "captain sh**beard" and so on. I tend to keep hints to what the decks include but want self induced chuckles reading through my lists. Ah the little things...
Glancing over my collection, the interesting titles are :
Omelettelock - midrange warlock with lots of eggs
CW in 2017 - control warrior
OTK Ramp Dragoncraft - aviana/kun druid with dragon synergy; reference to a shadowverse meta deck
Ping Ping Priest - Razakus
Hodor - quest warrior; HOLD THE DOOR
N'zoth pally no stoopid - secret paladin with n'zoth; N'zoth paladin means I'm playing a control deck, right? Kappa
If I can think of something funny, I use that otherwise I just put down something to remember it by, like one of the cards that makes it unique to its archtype: "Doomsayer", "Finja", "Tinyfin <3", "No DK", "Totemic Might", etc
I used to give my decks all kinds of silly names. The decks I have on my profile still have those names, but in-game I've turned to calling my decks by what they are for simplicity's sake. Elementals. Deathrattle. Bloodreaver Demons. Taunt. Et Cetera.
I usually stick with more practical names for my ladder decks, but I always makes my gimmicky ones as ridiculous as possible. My favorite name so far is "Thicc Bois Revelations", which is Jungle Giants ramp deck
I only name decks after I find them fun and playable to some point. After that I name them either by their characteristics (ctrl-agon-uff-adin for a weird example) or by taking their core and intricating it for weird and unintuitive name (Lizhard P'ny for my jade C'thun Druid as another weird example).
I'd like to give all my decks clever names, but I'm usually too lazy to think of anything and just leave the default names. I was inspired to name my big druid deck Lord of All Fevers & Plague after the Morbid Angel song (I had to cut "All" out because the full name was too long tho), because the deck includes Spreading Plague and I felt like the name fits well with the flavor of the Frozen Throne druid cards in general.

signature - yin and yang because hybrid (jade elemental)
Gul'danstein, Handlock's Reincarnation - the return of handlock after being dead in standard
Usually name mine with some sort of bastardization of the archetype (Big-P :priest) (Miri-cal) (Jod Drid).
Dumb i know.

Question everything.

Either something original or functional or both. I had a Secret Hunter deck for a long time called "Shh! It's a Secret!"
#nerfbarnes
Named my aggro druid deck: ''Sorry Mom''
I used to give my decks all kinds of silly names. The decks I have on my profile still have those names, but in-game I've turned to calling my decks by what they are for simplicity's sake. Elementals. Deathrattle. Bloodreaver Demons. Taunt. Et Cetera.
Jade druid: Jaids
Aggro druid: Cancer
Pirate warrior: Autism
Creativity comes in many shapes and forms
Fuck cubelock
I usually stick with more practical names for my ladder decks, but I always makes my gimmicky ones as ridiculous as possible. My favorite name so far is "Thicc Bois Revelations", which is Jungle Giants ramp deck
Not all who wander are lost...
...but I sure am
Control N'Zoth pally called CoN'Zoth'trollin'!
The only one worth pointing out is Demonlock 31. I update the number after every major change I make to the deck and have had the deck since GvG.
We're The Millers - Mill Rogue
Butt Pirate - Pirate Warrior
Darwin - Evolve Shaman
Reno911- any reno deck
Pretty Little Liars - any secret deck
I only name decks after I find them fun and playable to some point. After that I name them either by their characteristics (ctrl-agon-uff-adin for a weird example) or by taking their core and intricating it for weird and unintuitive name (Lizhard P'ny for my jade C'thun Druid as another weird example).
I experiment a lot (with a less-than-stellar collection), so to be fair some of my decks are weird or just bad, but I name them with fiendish glee.
I just keep the name of the deck and add the initials of the expansion at the begging...
EX: Aggro Druid = KFT Aggro Druid
Jade Druid = KFT Jade Druid
If it's a new deck like Highlander Priest I just name it Highlander Priest.
all my decks have the acronym for the current expansion and then what they are like: 'KFT Pirate Warrior,'.
I'd like to give all my decks clever names, but I'm usually too lazy to think of anything and just leave the default names.
