What was the purpose of the priest changes? Are the changes a success? A failure? Neither? Seems like the class hasn't changed at all with the changes or with the expansion.
The Rez component is just still too strong. I think the buffs did have a mild success though; Thoughtseal is great in HL Priest, and Holy Nova is now a great card. So it’s not so much as the buffs not doing what they should, as it is Resurrect Priest still being the best pick for the class right now.

Yeah! Just wait for one more year... and I think Rez Priest could do without him but it's the whole package they'll loose not just one card...
More seriously, the rez package is still so efficient and that is what most people are looking for but the new package might slowly find a way. It's fun to play anyway
If nothing else? The new Priest stuff is some of the best stuff you can get off of Zephyrs if you can't find lethal. Natalie is a way better 8 drop than Tirion.
Rez priest can be pretty annoying to play against. The thing is, it’s not a top-tier deck. If it was, you might see that it can be countered through minions that give “gifts” to the opponent. Terrorguard Escapee and Zul’Drak Ritualist come to mind...
I thought it was to give priest somekind of identity, but I still cant see any clear identity, rez seems to be the deck that works best a.t.m.. In which direction do you think they are going to push priest over the next expansions? deathrattle? healing? rez? cardcopying?

I mean classes shouldn't have a singular identity that only allows one deck archetype.
Priest is about removal, healing, card generation, disruption (i.e. mind control effects) and buffing.
I think the priest changes were a huge success. The class is just so much better designed now, even if it's not been reflected in the deckbuilding just yet.
Instead of creating archetypes, they killed one. Combo priest was fun to play. But as they killed the draw options, you're back to the same old boring deck we have been playing for a long time now. Dumbest thing they have done so far.

Yes, but if you look at other classes they usually have suppport for different mechanics,
usually a class have synergy for different playstyles, Ex..
Rouges does not only steal cards, it has supportcards that gives the stealing cards effect more value. The same with piirate-rouge. etc
Warrior does not only have armor they have more cards that support that. and weaopens, and damage..
Hunter has beast only/spell only/ deathrattles, with supporting synergy
Mage have synergy cards for secrets/spell only/minion only etc..
and so on...
you say that Priest is about removal, healing, card generation, disruption (i.e. mind control effects) and buffing. but i only find random strong cards that does that, no synergy between cards.. you no longer have cards that tie things together like healing makes you draw cards or damage opponnet, or Casting spells make you heal yourself, like it used to..
I cant find any good "synergy" cards in the priest cardpool at the moment, even the best minions/support to rez are not priestminions in standard, the Cards in priest-standard at the moment just seems like random (very strong) effects that has nothing to do with each other... it makes a strong deck but with strong cards on their own or with synergy from neutral cards.
At the moment I think priest has to strong cards that more or less work on their own or with neutral cards.. No synergy within the classcard-pool, except maybe from dragons.. but -- meh..
Dunno why they hall of famed cards nobody ever used
To improve the card pool. Priest has the ability to generate random minions (Galakrond) and spells (Sethekk Veilweaver) by taking out the bad results, those cards are massively improved.
And yes, priest does not have a lot of synergy now. That's on purpose. And for the same reason. If you're generating random cards and you got something that relies on you having another card, it was really bad. But now everything is very broad. There are still synergy effects (dragons, targeted spells) and they could add some stuff that has to do with either healing maybe. But the priest card pool now is REALLY solid.
I don't think it's wrong for a class to have this sort of identity. There are already lots of combo classes in the game. (Mage, Rogue)

Neither. The priest changes weren't supposed to dramatically shift the class. They were supposed to eliminate "class identities" that Blizzard no longer wanted priest to have as part of the evergreen set - Shadow Form, bursty mindblast combos, etc. And to focus it on minions and minion buffing and control archetypes.
Priest can see the hand and deck of the opponent through various cards. Actually it’s a nice identity. You can evaluate your turns far better with this knowledge. But sadly everyone plays meta decks und you actually know what everybody has in his deck. Plus half of the cards played a generated in a match.

Next rotation a lot of the buffs will be very welcome.
Priest give up ressurrection now is like druid give up ramp...
Rez priest will die after vargoth going to wild

I still think priest sucks without the res component.

They did not want stat-buffs to be essential for the class anymore. Also future design space.
Resurrections are far more annyoing, though. I don't think anyone likes to face 10 Convincing Infiltrators in a single game.

No draw = bad class. What did they expect.?
Highlander priest which is more tempo oriented is better than res priest so no they did not
Just play secret rogue with 4 saps
