It looks good on paper. And when you get crushed by it. I've had the same feeling when I cane back after a long hiatus and got absolutely demolished by it. I didn't know anything about current meta, because last time I played Jade Druid was on top, so I was like "this has to be the best deck of the format, right?".
But it isn't. It has explosive turns, but it's not like they can vomit them one after another every game. You need luck or time for this. It's natural as a control deck you will be crushed, because they have time to assemble their pieces. And you probably have less board clears, then they have options to generate boards.
I was going to craft Spell Druid myself. But I wanted to see how it performs, I started watching people playing it and... it performs not nearly as good as I imagined it, when I saw it for the first time.
Well Spell druid is way too inconsistent at the moment. Galakrond Warlock, Res Priest and any good control deck are just having a free win against Spell Druid (obviously if they don't have awful hand and can play). Big Druid looses against Spell Druid, because he's too slow, but Demon Hunters usually manage to out-tempo you. I guess Spell Druid (as most aggro/token decks) is a God tier on lower ranks. In high Diamond and Legend you would just be destroyed.

Lock maybe (it's fifty fifty). Priest is way too passive to call it a favorable match-up. Sure, it can win, under right circumstances, like every playable deck in the meta, but to say Res Priest has a free win is simply stupid. I would say both are favorable if both decks draw similarly powerful hands. If Druid draws shit... oh well, it works the same for every deck.
Oh c'mon. Let's not pretend spell druid is some sorta of meme combo deck.
The deck is absolutely consistent at achieving its plan, otherwise it wouldn't be a tier 1 deck. The only reason it isn't "god tier 0" as OP is asking is because it loses to aggro.
Yesterday Grandmaster Tournament Broadcast Spell Druid lost a lot of Games, looked like a Tier 2 Deck

Even HSreplay, which always presents match-ups a bit less one-sided than they are in reality, gives it to Spell Druid.
I dont know about HSreplay (I don't use it now as it only shows data from Bronze-Gold unless you pay money). I have played very few games as Spell Druid, since I prefer control playstyle. However, I have played a lot of games as Res Priest. My winrate against Spell Druid is around 70% (and it's really like 30 games against this archetype for data). Like I said SDruid can win, but only if I don't have any board clears or good taunts in hand, or if he is a pro player and can simply play around everything ;) I will list out some possibly op board clears that Priest has.
Glowfly Swarm - countered by Holy Nova or Breath of the Infinite. Druid can buff his tokens the same turn and this is a serious issue for Priest. If it's far enough in the game, Priests have Plague of Death or Mass Resurrection, which can summon you a lot of nice taunts. However hiding behing taunts is not a good idea in this situation, as you ropponent will just play a few more board buffs and Priest is dead by the next turn. A much better choice is Soul Mirror, because no matter what buffs Druid uses, Glowflies will always have the same Damage and HP, so SM wipes them all. Nonetheless, look at what I wrote. Druid has to have a perfect draw, while Priest usually manages to find a board clear in mulligan.
Exotic Mountseller - depending on the beast she summoned, she can be countered by the board clears I listed before. The card itself can be killed by Shadow Word: Death or Shadow Word: Ruin, where the second can also kill her tokens in some cases.
Kael'thas Sunstrider - Yeah, the crazy combo card is also countered by Priest. The problem with Keal'thas is that he is used as a set up for the next turn lethal. If you opponent is unable to think too much, they will play Kael'thas on an empty board and summon crazy tokens and buff them a lot. Well that's when both Shadow Word: Ruin and Plague of Death are usefull. Rarely have I seen a situation when my opponent played Keal'thas on an empty board and did nothing more. Well I suggest getting rid of him fast, because your enemy may be a bit more inteligent than an average player. Some people will try to make you think "well, why would I waste my big clears on a single minion". It's a mistake to even think like this. Keal'thas is very powerful and using a board clear just for him is not as stupid as it sounds.
Well, there are much more pssible plays, but I just wanted to show you a bit of my experience with this matchup ;)
PS. HSreplay will give it to Spell Druid, because the site shows statistics from all games in low ranks. If you genuinely want to see how good this deck is, I suggest looking at stats from legend ranks. Well, you will be surprised.
I've played about a hundred if my past games as spell druid and it's as much as being said on here. Draw dependant. If you don't draw early overgrowth/fortunes/minions you just sit there and eat pressure while popping single tokens and shortly die.
Hard matchups include priest/mage/warlock because of their constant board clears and all aggro
Obviously you can get an early combo and win by turn 5 Vs any class but that's the point of a combo deck... it's just drawing that combo
Playing with 3 decks, rogue secrets, highlander rogue and highlander mage, mixed results vs anything and favored vs priests but every time I play vs spell druid (the other druid decks have mixed results too) I play a hopeless game and get smashed, feel like the days of prenerf druid in KFT release, I have only 5 manas and the druid already have 7 manas and a full board of minions and playing an insane number of free spells, ok, rogue can play a lot of free spells too but only after play 7 manas combination of minions or a full Galakrond setup and the opponent at this point have mana for powerful board clears, what you do when opponent play this insanity and you have only 5 manas?
Why this deck is not dominating the meta so hardly like the days of release of KFT?
Before someone say something like "Play the deck and see for yourself" I don't have the cards or the dust to do that, DH really counter them?
I was thinking the same until I send a friend request to one of the players. Then I watched him lose 7 times in a row after our match. Then I understand: its just Hearthstone.
That doesnt do anything against them, treant is not a tribe.
Lmao, have you even tried the card to say such bs? It kills the 5 mana swarm and beasts from Mountseller.
If it kills the treants aswell, it would be absolutely bonkers non-sense, imagine one card (you can play 2x) destroys an entire archetype...
LOL what a point :D Can you imagine a single card that you can put 2 copies into your deck and it is shutting down any highlander deck, pure paladin and spell mage AND is decent (not trash) against any other deck. It exists, I'm not giving hints :)

Lmaooooooo, what a comparation dude, albatross literally does nothing unless delay your battlecry highlander cards it's not even that good just annoying (i'm not talking by myself i never played such archetype but i have friends that play it literally every day since it became a thing and they dont give a s@ about albatross). I bet no one is going to play it anymore now that cost 4 mana.
I've been experimenting with it at Platinum 10. Every single deck I've faced today has either been Control Priest, Resurrection Priest, Spell Mage, or Highlander Mage.
Do you know what those decks have in common? Lots of ways of dealing with multiple, low-health minions.
Against Priest you need to buff them to 3/3, against Mage to 4/4. I had an insane 18-2 run to go from Platinum 10 to Diamond 10 yesterday with this deck, was 4-0 against both Priest and Mage. Was happy not to face too many DH too
Spell druid is another one of those decks that is just stupid. Every game I play against it goes exactly the same. I build a board and start hitting the face, the druid completely ignores everything I'm doing and continues to ramp/draw as fast as humanly possible. Then, on turn 6, they either win the game or concede. So interactive, such fun.
Decided to try Spell Druid yesterday because of a quest, played 5 games with it, lost 5 games, Literally impossible to win unless you get a godly draw, all I did was just sit there, got punched in the face and prayed I was gonna draw the right cards. Even when I had a decent hand I would just lose because of boardclears.
Your few games data sample is not representative. Also it's not even the best druid deck around.
Waste warden exists, also it is very draw dependent

Control Gala priest also beats it, you just have to build a board and you have many removals

Tier 0.... Don't make me laugh
Play Rez Priest and feast on them.
Hardly anyone even plays this deck anyway. I've bumped into this deck about once in my last 50

Okay, I've finally left the Priests and Mages behind, and I'm on a win streak heading towards Platinum 5.
It's a nice deck. Unless Demon Hunter draws Altruis, he has a lot of trouble dealing with your big board.
