This deck seems to work best as a midrange deck. Its hard to have enough draw for a control deck, and the tempo from Guild Recruiter and Ancestral Spirit is quite good. Added Feral Spirit to gain more tempo, and second Healing Rain because its heal against mage/razakus as well as enabling value trades when you are winning.
1x Manatide Totem, 1x far sight <---> 2x Feral Spirit
1x Crushing Hand <---> Healing Rain
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Defensive: Maelstrom Portal, Devolve, Lightning Storm, Volcano, Drakkari Defender, Healing Rain, Crushing Hand, Feral Spirit
Draw: Far Sight (kinda faded since it got midrange-y)
Then get board: Guild Recruiter (!), Flamewreathed Faceless, Drakkari Defender, Earth Elemental, Aya Blackpaw, Feral Spirit
Then win: The perfect combo is Snowfury Giant + Ancestral Spirit + Greater Sapphire Spellstone. But most times you'll win by getting Ancestral Spirit or plain Snowfury Giant tempo
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: The deck is real fun to play, and has a ton of different matchups. But it does require brain and planning! :)
Thank you dude. You saved me from this meta. I was Stuck on 15 and i went 6-1 with this deck. Lost only against an insane Nzoth cubelock and was close, even. Deck is solid.
How important do you find Aya to be? I don't have her but otherwise can almost completely craft the deck. Also what are your thoughts on the 2 mana unlock overload card? I'm running him as 2-of and he does make recruit a bit worse but on the other hand unlocking crystals has been powerful. Healing rain is an awesome card, really loving it in the deck so far.
I think aya is quite important. Really good sticky board presence, and there were a few games where ancestral spirit-ing/spellstone-ing aya actually got me to win
For the 2mana dude i simply dont have the dust to try out xD But i dont think its worth it, if you run guild recruiter. You expect and need Recruiter to pull a solid minion, hes pretty essential
What do you usually keep for mulligan?
Thats really depending on matchup. Generally Jade Claws are good, devolve against some classes (rogue for example), Guild Recruiter is good if youre not against aggro, also Far Sight against no aggro, Jade Lightning if you predict 4-health drops. Basically make sure you have removal and draw the first turns and maybe a guild recruiter
Gotta try this, replacing farsight with crushing hand
EDIT: I did it
Crushing hand is actually doing a lot better than I expected. Really handy for those turns when you're overloaded, only have 2 mana and the opponent drops a big threat. Can pretty much always squeeze it in when needed.
Really interesting Idea! But i currently only have Earth Elemental as Elemental, and cant add other minions that cost 4 or less because of Guild Recruiter. I would like to try Grumble+Spellstone Synergy, but i currently see no way to get more Elementals in the deck (to activate Grumble)
Ohhhhh :D Ill think about that and edit the deck then, thanks!
Here is my go at the combo deck. No idea how it will play out though
On one side, having Arcane Giants is nice as Spellstone-Targets. On the other side im afraid there would be too many "dead cards until late game" in the deck, and if just putting unstable evolution and arcane giants in is enough synergistic? Guess we have to find out when expansion drops
Edit: you traded Manatide Totem, Earth Elemental <--> Arcane Giants, Unstable evolution. You may be on the edge of having too less overload for the spellstones (and draw would just makes the deck more consistent)
My idea was that finders keepers would be enough overload that earth elemental wasnt needed since it gives you overload when you use it and once you play the card you discover plus it synergizes with both arcane giant and snowfury. I think my deck will be to weak in the early game but i wont really know until i can play a few rounds
I thought I would make my own version of the deck with more controlling cards. I think the weak points are probably card draw and getting upgraded spell stones, and I think tempo decks might just run over these decks before you could pull off the combos.
If card draw and overload is lacking, theres still Ancestral Knowledge that can be fit in the deck.(im dumb and forgot about wild) And depending on the meta, if aggro/tempo is present, then maybe a second volcano like you have could help yeah. Thx for the feedbackI think this has potential, but you could also include unstable evolution and arcane giant combo. Spirit Echo seems overkill simply because of sapphire spellstone. I really like the guild recruiter ignoring overload, keep theorizing!
Yeah arcane giants + unstable is a nice combo. But im afraid i end up trying too many things in one deck. I thought of putting that combo in a fully spell focused shaman, but ended up with some brainfarts on a list and nothing that seems good^^
I think fully upgrading the spellstone is hard enough to do and demands enough synergy in the deck already, id either have to cut removal or overload cards for arcane+unstable
Edit: And ye, spirit echo has to proof itself. My hope is, that against tempo/midrange decks it can be enough value generation to win the game, by spirit echo-ing just a Guild Recruiter and what he pulled
