[Eater of Secrets] since I've been running into a lot of secrets lately, or Dragonfire Potion if you're running into paladins, or another Kabal Songstealer, or even a Harrison Jones.
[Skulking Geist] great Jade counter...will also counter good Priest, Warlock, and Rogue cards.
[Psychic Scream] changes the way this deck plays post-midgame...be mindful, it works well.
[Zola the Gorgon] has much synergy...at only 3 drops, Zola brings late-game combo potential. Cheap replacement can be Bone Drake, or any late-game card that you're comfortable with.
Better stats on The Lich King vs. Grand Archivist, and I like the dk card being added to hand vs. spells being taken from the deck with random targets. You can also consider Ysera for dragon synergy or Medivh, the Guardian for big spell synergies.
Here's WR info @ Rank 9
Hello replacement for Zola the Gorgon?
Since Zola is a late game card that puts another creature in your hand, I would say Bone Drake can replace her. You can alternatively use a big dragon that you like to work with in the late game.
Winrate info @ Rank 9...
Here's an update on winrate in case anyone was curious...
Nice deck! I love the potential of Zola the Gorgon, but instead of The Lich King i am using Medivh, the Guardian and it is actually great. The combo with him and the big spells always give me some more board control.
Really nice deck, keep up!
Yeah, I think Medivh is solid too. I had tried him before and in my testing got more card value from Lich King and since the cards go in your hand you have a bit more control over how/when to play...which keeps in line with the theme of this deck to reduce uncontrollable randomness. Medivh also relies on a combo to work, you gotta have or draw one of few spells in the deck. At any rate, I'll update the guide to reflect Medivh as a solid option, thanks for your thoughts!
How far in the ladder has this deck taken you?
Classic movie!
This version is only a few hours old. It took me from 20 to 16 after 12 games, so it's not maxed out for sure and feels better than the previous version of this deck. The previous version of this deck went from rank 20 rank to 11 in one day, right before last season ended so again it wasn't maxed out either. I will definitely post up the results after a couple dozen more games.
I should also note that I'm very new to Hearthstone (this is only my 3rd season), so I'm still learning a lot in terms of how to use this deck to deal with various opponents. If you compare this deck to other similar ones which have achieved Legend with more experienced pilots than me, you'll see that the changes I discuss in the description above are a matter of personal preference and shouldn't hold the deck back from reaching Legend as well.
Actually the 8 drops are kinda better. The 10 drops have the limitation of picking cards only with 10 mana or more, and a lot of these cards are like 8/8 (no effects), 10/10 (no effects) and stuff like that. Now, the 8 drops can give you a hole new world of cool cards with nice effects to have even more board control.
Great thinking! The reason I like the 10 drops is they will generally have better stats. There are a lot of low stat 8 drops out there that are great cards contingent on a battlecry effect which doesn't trigger when being spitefully summoned. At any rate, thanks for presenting a fresh perspective, made me go hmm :)
What are you replacing for the operative?
I put them both back in and tweaked the deck some more. I've basically removed 1x free from amber, 2x glimmerroot, and 1x grand archivist in order to have 4 cards slots to experiment with. Zola is definitely a keeper in this deck. Lich King and Acolyte are feeling pretty good so far, and a silencing minion can come in handy often.
Hey everyone, I phased one Drakonid Operative back in. I'm also considering some other cards in place of Shadowreaper Anduin and Obsidian Statue...let me know if anyone has any ideas! Shadowreaper's board clear can be a lifesaver but the hero ability doesn't have a lot of synergy. Shadowreaper made more sense with no Drakonid and 2x Twilight Drake since the board clear doesn't kill the Drake but does kill the Drakonid.
Obsidian is a solid minion but feels like if you need the life gain by the time you can cast a 9 mana minion, it's too little too late and a 4/8 body feels like not enough as well even with taunt.
I still think the spell cards from The Lich King in an 8/8 taunt body are great.
Thanks!
