Why not have made this the actual dr boom bots? 0/2 Deal 1-4 to random enemy

Balance, consistency, fairness. The old boom bots only work because they're not a standalone card. Especially as a neutral, they'd be difficult to cost properly because they're very swingy. A 1/1 for 2 that deals 1 random damage when it dies is overcosted, but a 1/1 for 2 that deals 4 random damage when it dies is OP.

Also if they'd made it a 0/2 boom bot with the same ability as the old ones, someone would be asking why they didn't make it a 1/1.

Magnetic Bomber

Here's my theorycraft on a Goblin Bomb deck, filled with Magnetic & Mech synergy. Leaning towards building strong boards & combo threats as opposed to being too Deathrattle focussed.

Nope. It's a common neutral card that's also summoned by other cards.

Flark summons 4 Goblin Bombs

you are right, but annoyotrons are out of standard. as the loading message says, if you play standard you don't need to know the older cards. flark summons "goblin bombs" because those are in the same set. when goblin bombs will be wild, flark will follow.

I know this isn't related to this card, but it got me thinking.

Am I the only one who hopes we get a Boom Bot of some type this expansion?

It is almost like an egg, but not exactly an egg. But hey at least there is this Void Ripper synergy and mech synergy which Leper Gnome doesn't really have.

On the surface, divorced from any synergy, it seems worse than the already-bad Leper Gnome. It should play pretty well with Magnetic, but I'm not sure if that will be consistent enough to justify including it.
