I also said this is bad and got crapped on.
Rank 15 will be rank 15.
let the rank 15 players play their rank 15 cards
In this case, "new" actually means it WILL be played. Because there still are people who want to try out new things.
Also, carda that aren't so appealing at first often turn out to be really good. Remember how surprising (and devastating) was camel hunter after launch of LoE? Or maybe you remember how many streamers claimed Dr. Balance... I mean, Dr. Boom to be "not good enough to see any play"? And where are dem Troggzors now? :P
Jokes aside, this card seems preeeeety damn scary for me, as my favourite decks of all times are Anyfin pally and variety of N'Zoth decks, and devolveing Sylvanas or Tirion (or even a Warleader) really weakens my win condition. Not to mention that if I'd get murlocs that aren't Warleaders or Bluegills as a result, it just shatters my Anyfin finisher into small pieces.
Yeah, first weeks of MSG will be bad time for playing N'Zoth-centred control decks. New polymorph potion (play around it in 1/3 of matchups, yaay), devolve... but hey, thats the good reason to EMBRACE THE NEW/REVISITED ARCHETYPES! HELLO THERE, BUFFADIN! :D
you will see that this card is crap soon enough
besides nobody plays the 7/7 anymore
I agree this card is complete bullshit. Who the fuck thought this would be a good idea is beyond me.
Grimy Goons hard counter.
They play low statted minions, buffing up their hand, you kill them easily, the want a swing turn with buffed up minions, you devolve it.
In my opinion, this card is only viable for Control Shaman. Mid Shaman in the current meta may run only 1 copy. Keep in mind that in the next year recycle Shaman is going to lose its early game power, so Control Shaman may see play.
Would you play a 3rd or 4th worse hex though? Which is basically what this is against control.
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
Isn't Lightning Storm just better against aggro? Against zoo this is maybe ok, but you'd still need to get rid of the board. Which takes another card, think this is comparable to equality in that sense, only good if you can combine it with some stuff. By itself it's meh-ish, against Rag or Sylv or stuff like that you already have hex, which for 1 more mana doesn't leave a 7- or 5-drop.
Cheap board clear-like effect, the only downside is when you draw this where you already traded some of your minions last turn, also it can devolve into a taunt.
I think it is good overall, better against aggro when playing aggro, but he has lightning storm, otherwise a weaker and cheaper hex against control.
This card could be an interesting tech card. As people pointed out, it can screw up set ups like stealthed/buffed/key cards that already see play like: Edwin VanCleef , Questing Adventurer , Gadgetzan Auctioneer, Malygos or even a Cold Blooded Azure Drake/Tomb Pillager. It can enable AoE on Grimy Goon's cards, and can "soft" hex deathrattle/continous effect legendaries. It doesn't deal with Jade Golems or Giants or Zoo boards well though. My guess is that you tech 1 copy in Midrange Shaman if the meta becomes Maly-centric or Grimmy Goon-centric. I don't think you want run this if you can help it.
I think the power level on this card is high... the chance of it backfiring is pretty low.
I played a fair amount of evolve shaman. Even with stacking the deck with 'higher mana cost than what you paid', it was still only ...ok. The power level of a random one cost higher is about on par with your normal constructed cards.
Looking at it the other way, your basically dropping them 2 mana cost in terms of power. Add in everyone's notes about the mass silence/ transform effect, and I believe this becomes a two-of in Midrange Shaman.
People calling this "group hex" is terribly inaccurate. Not debating whether or not it's a strong card, but acting like it's an AOE 0/1 board clear is retarded.
For as little as 2 mana your able to deal with a lot of shit such as tirion, cthun, any deathrattle, tokens (jade stuff), buffed cards such as goons, effectively removing legendaries as they cant die and thus cant be reincorporated and denying them calculated presence.
Lets be honest Ben Brode is sick of good players trashing him on ladder so hes making the game require literally no skill to play :L
Shaman has been given far too much, they are trying to push specific meta with vague cards (they hate certain archetypes such as OTK and all of its been nerfed to the ground).
Giving shaman a stupidly solid aggro, control and midrange meta, with neglected classes such as rogue whos only meta was one the players eventually bled out of it after the seemingly only meta of bladeflurry was nerfed out of existance.
They've stopped adding enablers for methodical play which was the core skill component in this game, such as that in MTG and yugioh.
Point and case, its a retarded card like jade idol and its ruining the game...
You "deal" with 8 drop tirion by turning it in to a potentially really strong 7 drop.
Or you "deal" with tirion with hex by making it a 0/1. Ya I wonder why these two aren't the same HMM.
The Fuck is this card...
this can't be real....
yea shamans need even more OP cards. This in not only insane against any buff oriented deck but for any deck playing a few taunt cards, no more taunts and them being able to go face and trade even more efficiently. This card is an abuser of total wild rng effects, i know that total wild rng is apart of this game but there is a point were enough is enough this card is a joke and not put into the game or at lest NOT competitively viable.
when a concealed 16/16Edwin VanCleef transforms into a 1/1Jeweled Scarab .
"Lapdogs, all of you!"
*plays Devolve*...uh nope...you're the lapdog now.
