Initial Crafting Advice For Legendary Cards In The Boomsday Project
Now that we've had a few days of playing with the new Legendary cards brought to us by Boom Labs in The Boomsday Project, we've got some initial rankings to share on how well they're doing. You can use the information here to help decide whether or not you want to craft any of the new legendary cards, though we do think it's still smart to wait a couple of weeks from an expansion launch before making any big decisions.
Below you'll find our highlights of each tier, along with a description of what the different tiers mean. Full data can be found in our Hearthstone Legendary Cards Tier List & Crafting Guide thread found over on the card discussion forums. Updates will be made to that thread as things evolve.
It should also be noted we've got a special section just for ranking cards in Wild.
Tier 1 - Staples
We're not confident in giving any cards the Tier 1 badge yet because these are considered as must-have cards. Anything in this bracket is typically used in either a certain archetype that is crushing everything else or is used across a variety of high-level decks. Great examples of cards in this tier from Witchwood were Baku the Mooneater and Genn Greymane which were used in many different classes to great success.
As the meta is still evolving heavily, anything we suggest here could become outdated quickly. We've got a good idea what belongs here after a couple of weeks.
Tier 2 - Tech
These are usually cards that although not necessarily must-crafts, they're going to help you out with a particular archetype that is seeing success.
Tier 3 - Playable
We're seeing these cards working in decks and although they may not be at the absolute top right now, it could go both ways. At the very least they're usually fun additions to the game.
Tier 4 - Niche
If you've got them, it may be worth hanging onto because they're at least seeing some play. Disenchanting these cards may result in regret down the line.
Tier 5 - Trash
Dust em! It's really that easy.

Hey, look at it as a free leg of your choice :D
i've disenchanted regular Gruul three times and it's golden version once - i've never regretted it and i will dust that guy again and again once i get him another time :)
but A Glorious Guide to Hearthstone says otherwise!
I agree with 510% , I find myself recrafting legendaries, epics more than anything...all the time. I rarely disenchant anything anymore. I must admit though temptation takes over sometimes lol
Do not dust em! Then you drop it again
Kangor's Endless Army seems to be falling in winrate after the initial success. The list in the thread will be updated. The same story goes for Harbinger Celestia, which is already demoted.
I'm having a blast playing Amara priest with goblin bombs and Zerek. I've had opponents conceding after I brought Zerek back for the 4th time. Not sure why you would put him in last tier.
The card has a very bad winrate, you have to eat a lot of losses to see those best case scenarios. Also, cards that require you to cast spells on them have a bad track record in heartstone (Fjola Lightbane, Eydis Darkbane, Dragonkin Sorcerer)
You can have fun with a lot of bad cards, but that does not make them good. This list is for crafting advice based primarely on competetive viability.
You have to agree that the examples you're citing have really bad abilities compared to Zerek. I mean, even if I bring back Zerek as a 1/1 from Twilight's Call, I can use a simple buff to bring back another 5/5. Also with Unidentified Elixir you're regularly getting a summoned copy, or a copy in hand. If I play this card in a control priest like Amara, this 'best case' scenario plays out quite often.
And best of all, each summoned copy counts towards the quest goal and makes it more reliable to resurrect a copy later on.
Yes, the effect might be weaker, but they have better stats for cost, and the effects are repeatable without them having to die. The big issue is that all of those cards require other cards to be decent, but the results are not even close to game winning. You need another buff card for each self triggered resurrect, which high value very difficult to achieve...
That quest priest does not even have a 35% winrate. It is not viable.
You're definitely not wrong, but part of why those kinds of creatures are bad is because it makes them big targets without adding any significant survivability while requiring more card investment. Blizzard has been notably working on this with their designs over the last year to try to add viability to Buff Paladin with cards like Shimmering Courser and Primalfin Champion. Cards like Zerek, Master Cloner, Test Subject (which has literally the same ability as Primalfin verbatim), and Extra Arms are a smart move in the same direction IMHO because Priest's rez and cloning cards give you a non-trivial amount of additional mileage for that extra card investment.
Should I dust Subject 9?
Subject 9 - Secret Hunter is actually legit! I have a deck if you need that makes it work really well!
You're rating Harbinger Celestia higher than Zerek, Master Cloner?
Zerek is amazing, huge sleeper card, ANY spell cast on them makes them re-summon as deathrattle.
Whoever wrote this article, should stop writing articles
Agree but having success with both Zerek and Cloning Gallery in Wild with stuff like Velen’s Chosen available and.Excavated Evil and Lightbomb.
It sees quite little play and is not doing great atm, but has potential! It will be promoted if it proves itself to be good.
Not quite, some decks see too little play in legend for that to make sense, Temporus recently had a 70%+ winrate in legend, for example. Also, the winrates are compared with the current strongest decks, which typically range from 55-65%.
