Evolve doesn't really work with the overload package. You're going to end up downgrading a lot of cards. I've seen a better version with a similar concept using Unstable Evolution. I'm not sure about the spellstone in this without Snowfury Giant or Ancestral Spirit. Seems like you're stuck in between evolve and overload, and it's going to lead to some clunky hands and poor synergy.

I just had a Rogue quest to complete so I queued up a meme Jade Rogue deck in casual. In six games, this is what I faced:

Secret Mage, Secret Mage, Aggro Paladin, Murloc Paladin, Murloc Paladin, Recruit Warrior.

To the Recruit Warrior: respect. To the rest of you, go suck a bag of dicks. If you're going to play a tier 1 deck, do it in standard. I'm done playing on Saturday morning; I guess I'll have to wait until the shitty, try-hard kids go back to school.

As a big spell mage, Skulking Geist is fantastic right now, imo. There's the obvious Jade Druid counter, but destroying Dark Pact on curve swings the Cubelock matchup in your favor, imo, and the card obliterates combo Priests.

If you find yourself up against a lot of Aggro decks, I'd recommend Primordial Drake. It's a big taunt, it's naturally Priest-resistant, it allows a ping on the same turn, and it gives you another 2 damage AOE for clears and softening up minions for water elemental generation.

Get rid of the Doomsayers and there are only two cards in the entire deck to stop your opponent from blasting you in the face until turn 5. Those are a staple, imo.

In my opinion, no. It's rarely playable against tempo or aggro decks, and without other tempo tools, opposing control decks are generally going to be able to deal with it fairly easily. It's also a 9-drop, which means you can't ping on the same turn.

I own the card and I play a Primordial Drake instead.

Exodia Mage, Exodia Paladin, and Rin, the First Disciple control lock. Auctionmaster Beardo rotates out soon so one of those becomes irrelevant (not that it's common to begin with), but Exodia mage is unwinnable without it and control lock is a loss without it if you don't manage to polymorph Rin.

Other than that, it's a nice way to burn your opponent's resources when used in conjunction with Dragon's Fury.

posted a message on So the nightmare begins

Grinding from 19-15, it was definitely the most represented deck. Felt like 35-40% of what I played at a minimum.

And it was fine. Yeah, it's a powerful deck. I even play Big Spell Mage so statistically it should be a 30-35% win rate (though I fared much better). But it's not an irritating deck to play against imo. Games feel winnable with the right draw. In short: these nerfs are great and Prieststone was still the worst meta that Hearthstone had to offer. I for one welcome our new Warlock overlords.

Oh, also: Skulking Geist is effing amazing right now. It levels the playing field against Cubelock and Jade Druid, but most importantly, it makes combo Priests autoconcede. I've never been more satisfied playing any individual card in this game. I give it 10/10 and I'm considering crafting a golden version just for kicks.

She's fine. Much like DK Uther, she's just a victim of slower Rogue decks not being viable at the moment. If Mill or Miracle Rogue finds its niche any time soon, people are likely to start complaining about the card.

posted a message on Big Spell Mage vs control/Cube warlock

    Hey folks,

The new meta is in progress and, predictably, it's been pretty Warlock-heavy so far. For anybody else playing big spell mage, I'm wondering how you guys are handling this matchup. It's looks like an awful matchup statistically, but (anecdotally) I've found it to be less extreme than the 30-35% winrate reported by some sites.

I guess the first part is figuring out which variation of the deck you're up against: the slower, Voidlord and grind-it-out deck (sometimes with Rin, the First Disciple included), or somebody looking to push out some quick damage by cubing a Doomguard. I've been told the Doomguard version is likely to fade away now that Razakus is gone, but I'm not entirely convinced. And personally, I find this version more problematic. The damage push at that stage in the game is serious, and if they hit the DK on curve to resurrect them it's usually lethal. It's also tough to deal with multiple 7 health minions; I don't like to gamble to that extent with Dragon's Fury.

So on that note, are there any early indications that will tip you to which deck you're facing, or do you just have to wait to see what pops out of the Possessed Lackey?

Backtracking a bit, there's the mulligan to consider: I typically hard mulligan for Polymorph (and I wish I had about six copies for this matchup) and I'll keep a Skulking Geist if it's in hand. That part's crucial, I think; an on-curve Geist means you'll always be able to react to a Cube. I do run an ooze, but I don't personally find that quite as crucial given all of the removal. Would you guys keep that in an opening hand to deal with Skull of the Man'ari?

Getting on to the actual game, where I'm a little bit uncertain is how liberal I can be with my Polymorph usage. Would you use it on a Doomguard to take it out of the DK resurrect pool, or do you reserve them for Cubes? Do you feel like you have to reserve one in case Rin comes out, or will you take your chances pulling out Azari with Dirty Rat? Do you even bother on a cubed Voidlord, or are you content to just soak up that damage?

Anywho, I've found this to be a very compelling matchup so far and one that really tests my skill as a player. I hope some of you out there are having success and I'd love to hear your takes on how to swing it in our favor.

posted a message on Mammoth Bundles - Share your packs!

Master Oakheart in my first Kobolds pack. I was down to 5 on my pity timer, though. I'm at a fresh 40 on Un'Goro and KOTFT, so I'm not expecting much there. But hey, maybe I'll get lucky!

And ooh, a double epic pack! Two that I didn't have (To my Side and Level Up!), to boot. Things are going well so far. In all, I came away from Kobolds with a legendary, 4 epics, and 10 rares. Solid.

Welp, my Frozen Throne and Un'Goro luck balanced that out. 20 packs, 4 epics, one golden common. Might as well have just given me the dust and cut out the middle man.

Same. Just did it, in fact, and I seriously opened a Creeper with my very last pack (I'm down to 80 gold). Terrible legendary luck, though. My pity timer is down to 5...
