Damn, I just noticed that you need to not have more than 1 copy of the card IN YOUR DECK, not in your list, lol whoops.

So I changed the list for a second molten and second ice block, which made the deck better. I have been  playing this deck, only, today and yesterday and I think this is a pretty good result.

I really would like to do that, but Reno Jackson's effect triggers only if you don't have more than 1 copy of any card in your deck.

That makes any Reno Jackson deck somewhat awkward to make and to play, but mage has different cards that do similar things, so I thought I could try.

spellbender is a big no no

Do you mind explaining why it isn't worth a try in the current meta? I think it gives duplicate more value and can't usually be juked like countenrspell does, having a big surprise factor. It is in the deck to play against inner rage, power overwhelming, druids, velen's chosen, blessing of kings, etc(cards that I was playing against a good bit when I tried this list) but mostly for the surprise factor.

But I would like to understand why it is "a big no no".

I don't like it, you don't really have that much cheap spells to really make the flamewaker work. Better just get 2 sheep and/or unstable ghoul for the early game, and take some useful mid game minions that you could duplicate, like loatheb or emperor to burn the removals. Then once giants come into play, the game is yours.

Also you might need 2 fireball for jaraxxus and various other situations. Fireball is op, take it

Echo mages, and giants, usually don't even run fireballs, having one is already questionable. Fireball, in decks like this, are removals and not burn.

The lack of fasat spells you get off by not having an agressive zergy deck. This decks does not lack spells to get flamewaker value for control purposes. Tempo mage has a lot of cheap spells because  it is a fast rush deck, this deck is not one of those and it try to use flamewaker as a control tool. If you'd rather play fast face decks, please do so. I understand if you dislike control decks and think they're not viable, it is a pretty strong and valid thought right now.

I just came up with this hybrid list as I'm climbing with it right now. Not high ranked right now, but this is working atm. At least it is a fun deck to play.

posted a message on Velen Shadowpriest

The deck you might have ran against was fatigue priest, a very popular list. I have tried that and played a good amount of it, and it was the start point for this deck I've came up with, but they have a different gameplay and this list is quite different.

Fatigue priest has very fewer board presence and relies mostly on removal, and it also doesn't run any cycle.

I started from that and wanted to try 2x mind blast because I felt that that damage would win me some games in the meta I was in(fatigue priest was built a few seasons ago and not updated since), and I felt like I had more removal than I could spend. But mind blast became a dead card in a deck that need removal ready, so I added cycle cards and ended up adding more minions as well as velen and emperor.

I'm not saying that this deck is better than fatigue priest, it just has a different gameplay. Both decks could work if you tech them correctly.

Velen can have multiple approaches, but I don't think a full cheese version works. This one is the one I wanted to try with Shadowform(first came shadowform, then mind blast and then velen/emperor), but I also run a velen deck with another deckbuild, a bit more "regular"(similar to zetalot's list). But I'm open to new velen lists.

posted a message on How is this Dragon Priest deck?

For a dragon priest deck, it is pretty close to the deck we all tried and conclued it was bad, hahaha.

If you lack any of these cards, don't waste your  dust crafting them.

But you might want to  go for a ride and have some fun with the new dragons. I haven't seen a  dragon list that was good, and most of them looked like this one, including the ones I've tried myself.

Also, the current meta really asks for Lightbomb with the patron warrior deck runing about, you might consider using it if you have(pretty much a must for any priest deck in the current meta).

posted a message on Core cards for freeze mage

Freeze mage is a deck where you balance card draw, freezes, and burn, and adjust them accordingly to the meta. The real core cards of the deck are alextrasza and ice blocks.

The more card draw you have, the more consistent your deck will be, so you're always trying to fit in cards like Loot Hoarder in the deck. Because of the current meta, you see most popular lists runing double loot hoarder, but the last freeze mage(list that hyp3d used) had none, and more freezes/removals because of the meta. For some time Novice Engineer was a card draw in the deck.

Archmage Antonidas was not always used and it was, for a long time, switched back and forth with Pyroblast because using both was "too much". But now we have Emperor Thaurissan which makes Antonidas A LOT stronger, so I think it'll be a staple now, but I wouldn't go as far as saying it is a win condition(unless you're playing against a warrior). I think you can still play freeze without him, but your deck will be substantly weaker, but still viable.

You'll probably want to add Mad Scientist to get that secret value and go over the deck quickly. Freezes like Frost Nova, Cone of Cold(there was a period of time where decks didnt run cone of cold until hyp3d add them back) and Blizzard and removal like Flamestrike are also mandatory, but the meta will call the amount of cards you'll use.

You'll need card draw through Arcane Intellect, Acolyte of Pain and Loot Hoarder, but the meta will call how many. Usually 2x acolytes and 2x intellect for sure and as many loot hoarders as you can fit. Loot hoarder is usually the first card to cut to include cards as Antique Healbot. A flamestrike and a blizzard were cut to fit the 2x hoarders you see right now, reason being these cards are not as good as they were.

Doomsayer is almost mandatory. Your deck you be way weaker without him. It used to be good against aggro, but now every aggro runs silence because of belchers, so it is not as good against aggro anymore, you can't rely on him, but it straight destroys paladins and priests. And by forcing a silence it stalls even aggro decks a little more.

Burns you want to include every burn you can. Pyroblast always was a debatable card, even today, imo. But with Emperor Thaurissan and the amount of warriors around, you might want to play pyroblast. I always liked pyroblast, and before emperor I used to run it over antonidas in some metas.

Well, this is how I see the freeze mage deck.

Went to try again and I've got the coin hero power quite often. So I changed the deck, taking out the cards that I didn't feel that helped much.

While making this deck I think I won 4 more times and played around 12 games. A lot of the times I was stuck with shadow word deaths, inner fires, and didn't get a good start. But once you get a good start, it's not that hard.

One thing  I noticed is that he mostly played coin if I didn't have a 1 drop. Most of the times  when I played a  1 drop he would play either that egg or twilight whelp.

And once you get a deathlord with divine spirit on, he will never pass again.

    EDIT:
Thanks for the helping me. I was indeed lucky  and the deck was not the best it could be. I hope this revision can make the matchup easier and more likely to align.

Do something like shadow word pain or smite. If you draw cleric + shadow word pain/smite, you can play deathlord safely on turn 4. I played mine on turn 4 and he never died that entire game.

He played that 2/3 welp turn 1, I attacked and healed cleric. He attacked my cleric and summond his whelps. I healed cleric, killed the whelp and smited a 2/2. Turn 4 I played deathlord, if I recall, alone, and he never died. Once he lives for 1 turn he won't be dying.  I think I got lucky with it, but playing him along with Power Word: Shield, Divine Spirit, or even with a clear like Holy Smite or Shadow Word: Pain should help him to stay alive. Using Inner Fire on him would make the game even quickier.
