Anyone playing mage - I would suggest chucking Counterspell into your deck.
Worst case scenario is that you counter their Preparation and they are behind a turn or it messes up their turn, best case scenario is you counter their Crystal Core and then they have a deck full of 1/1 cards and spells...
Well, I tried running Counterspell for TTK mage, and never was able to counter Crystal Core :) Actually it can be very helpfull even when you block their shadowstep. But for other matches Ice Barrier is more reliable card.
Never caught a Crystal Core with a Counterspell yet (most people aren't that stupid), but between all the possible risks (Counterspell catching Preparation or Shadowstep, Polymorph catching their minions, Spellbender catching Shadowstep), they have to be really careful about the order of play, and then still gamble some.
Worst case, it slows them down just enough. Best case, well, gg :)
Oh, and of course I added a Dirty Rat in for good measure (it can work for several decks running around, as well as minion quest rewards... amazingly, pulled out a Yogg twice yesterday lol, and an Onixya... this meta is crazy and cool :))
I'm running double Counterspell and a Mana Bind in my secret aggro list and I've gone 11-3 against Quest, including going 5-0 in the games from rank 10 to rank 5. If they go off early and you don't hit on a relevant secret then it hurts but sometimes even just getting the Mana Bind on the Core is enough to win the game if you can force them to burn through more minions or resources on their way to completing the quest.
So the thing is easy: aggro beats QR, but you don't want to play aggro because you think that only stupid people play aggro. so if you find to many QR and 1-you want level up in the ladder,2-you are not a top player, Grow up and play aggro 'till your deck is viable again, becuse the meta is defined by the majority of the players, not by your dreams, Btw Paladin have the most powerful counter against QR: Equality+Consecration works fine and i saw a video of Thijs using Sunkeeper Tarim. Also freeze mage is devastang, but is not so easy to play with. I'm laddering with Miracle, jade-elemental shaman and, if i'm tired by too many QR, i play QR, Zoo and WaterPW. you want blame me for having fun? come on, instead of Counterspell is more effective an aggro mage, counterspell works on dummy players. if you see the quest, play aggressive, that's why i think midrange is the best archetype for the ladder. because you can change strategy depending on the opponent in real time.
A well-timed counterspell ruins a lot of 'OMG I FINISHED MY QUEST IN 6 TURNS' happy. I've been tossing a throwaway spell against a mage showing secret before I play my spell quest cards now. Respectable play, despite the a**holeness that is never-ending fireballs.
I actually managed to counter crystal core using counterspell 5 times, and also managed to counter nether portal once
if you put a secret before counterspell and it triggers (ice barrier, mirror entity, spellbender), the player doesn't suspect you are using counterspell. in 3 out of the five games and the warlock game, i used mirror entity before counterspell and the player i was playing against didn't suspect counterspell. in a lot of other games, where i used counterspell first, many players saw through me and played another spell to save their reward.
so i belive you should play a few secrets to make other players suspect counterspell less.

What you guys think?
Yes thats an idea, but its very inconsistend.
i played quest rogue and someone tried counterspell on me, i just played backstep. Its so obvious that they play counterspell.
could work with cabal secret guy on turn 1 if you go 1st
still, if it works-> they still have a miracle rogue without auctioneer.
and they can build 20/20 edwins on t6 with the fireflys
Try Dirty Rat. If you are lucky you pull the quest minion, if you are not you are winning some time by getting a bouncer.

I run Counterspell+ Potion of Polymorph + Spellbender.

Dirty Rat seems like a good counter although it's unreliable.
The best counters are still zoo and yarr.

I just played a turn one counterspell and the rogue played quest right into it. Level 13. Insta-concede. Must not have been paying attention.

The best counter I found vs. Quest Rogue is Freeze Mage. We run a lot of freezes to stop the board and then win with the combo.
The worst scenario is turn 4/5 completing the quest but this is "rare" and we can play around this with a lot of card draw.
You want to counter quest rogue with mage?
Go face with your wyrms, apprentices and finishing with your fireballs, works 100% of the time. :D
With this deck I don't lose one single match vs quest rogue and play more than 10 times:

Unless desperate, the Rogue won't fall for that. ;)
I mean, it could work sometimes, but don't expect it to be such a hardcounter to QR.
