Over the past day and in a process that is going to continue throughout the weekend, some accounts on HearthPwn have been renamed, had their posts wiped.
We ran a banner on the website indicating that the transition was going to happen and for European users, you needed to consent to your site data being moved over to Fandom from Twitch. European users saw a button which was an opt-in for the move.
Accounts that did not opt in to the data move have had their posts deleted and their usernames renamed. Users that received these changes will be now named "user-<number>".
These users may still sign in to their accounts on the site to bring them back (login via your previously connected Twitch account) and we can restore your name if you tell us what it is. If you would like your name back, please do not private message us and instead use our nickname change request thread for the fastest possible support. Additionally, upon signing back in again, your decks will return from the dead. https://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/off-topic/site-feedback-support/222679-username-change-request-thread
Based on feedback so far I can see that people are not happy about the change and that we could have done this better. I don't disagree with you and I'm sorry, it was completely out of my hands.
I didn't even realize the thing, and about the data transfer. I am not even sure i actually got any warnings? But i can't deny i might have ignored them. But it's wieird, because i didn't ignore the twitch merge before.
But oh well, the posts can be remade. I just have to be more productive in the Salty Thread i guess. :p
*shrugs* I might be alone on this but you guys did fine in my opinion? I got harassed--I mean 'reminded' like a week before finally just, opting in. Anyone who ignored it over and over and over until now? I'd say that's on them.
Anyways, good on y'all doing what you can for damage control.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Hi i'm Tyler and I play hearthstone and watch anime.
Sometimes i make cards. I'd like to do that for a career one day if ever possible.
No offense, but this transition was handled rather strangely...
Back at the Twitch merge we've got so many warnings and heads-ups that one could almost get sick if it, and that change doesn't involved deleting your entire history.
But ind this case...
I don't read my email associated with this account very often - ok, i know, its my problem. But Chrome blocks banners here although i dont have any ad-blocker and i can see banners on several other sites. (Is Hearthpwn following Better Ads Standards? As i know that's the only reason ads get blocked by default).
So two mails and a banner that most people are blocking and/or simlpy ignoring as a warning before deleting someones entire history can hardly be considered sufficient, at least a few news posts would been nice... (back before the Twitch merge there were several iirc)
I may also be not on the "popular opinion" side of the matter but I feel like the transition was handled correctly. As someone who barely pays attention to e-mails, notifications and stuff and usually just lurks here and writes a topic/response scarcely I still managed to notice and act accordingly.
I don't think the staff of the page is here to blame if someone has chosen to ignore the warnings, prompts and e-mail. If someone will keep ignoring them then nothing can be done on Your end.
Didn't know this was a thing and I'm here almost every day :/ do all my posts and decks get permanently deleted? What about achievements and titles etc. everything else that was in your profile. And I agree the Twitch thing was handled much better.
Edit: I don't get notifications from my email and I check it rarely, seems like the emails have gone to to the garbage bin by default.
Just a question for clarification: Are the posts made with the old account gone forever or will they be restored?
Edit: Some older ones already seem to have reappeared. Let's see how many will...
I just resurrected your threads, the rest aren't coming back without some intensive clicking. You seem to have 196 pages of deleted posts so I wouldn't get my hopes up of getting it all back.

Achievements stay, custom fields seem to be deleted, posts can be resurrected but it's one-by-one clicking so if you have something super important there I can definitely undelete it, if not I'd rather let them be. Decks should come back by themselves.

There a possibility for me to see the threads through some link or anything cause I can't remember what I have done lol? If not I guess there's nothing else to resurrect but a meme deck thread I made I think a couple months ago. Was called something like "Bored of the game, need a new unique deck, come here" or something like that.
Can I consent anymore my email to curse media? I'd really like this whole thing translated to my language oof would be easier to understand this whole thing
Losing titles suck a lot. I was collecting them and was at sunwalker already
*shrugs* I might be alone on this but you guys did fine in my opinion? I got harassed--I mean 'reminded' like a week before finally just, opting in. Anyone who ignored it over and over and over until now? I'd say that's on them.

I agree that not checking my email is my fault, but apart from that i absolutely got no warning - i have seen no banner and since i stay logged in (like a great deal of the users, i presume) i got no promts also.
I'm not "blaming" the staff, i'm just stating that the previous transition - which had much less impact - was handled much better
I got the reminder emails. I followed the links. I opted in. I kept getting the reminder emails. I opted in again. My account still got wiped. I know this is not the guys at HearthPwn's fault, but I am pissed that this system clearly didn't work as intended. Especially that it happened right now, as I had just entered the Card Design Contest for the first time in a while, and I was very proud of my entry, but now the post has been deleted, so there's no chance of me getting through to the voting round.
I did receive my notification of the merge in the e-mail, but I paid it no mind. I tend to ignore flashy e-mail announcements because of known scams, and due to what I suppose is also disinterest, I also did not bother to check if it was legit in the first place. So yes, on one hand I am solely to blame for this.
On the other hand however, I thought the worst thing that could happen was taking a 5 minute setup for the account again. What I did not expect was for all my posts to be deleted. As someone whose primary reason for social activity in this community is to have a scam-free experience in the 80g Trade thread, I built my profile with a reasonable amount of posts and Thanks so I can afford to not 'go first' in trades. I do not blame the moderators of Hearthpwn in any way as they are obviously trying their best to do their job, but because of my unwillingness to 'start over' in building my profile again and the inherent difficulty that comes with un-deleting previous posts, I feel like it is time for me and this community to part ways.
Well, i may be paranoid, but i do not use my "official" email account for communities on the web. Just a secondary account, that obviously i never check.
I am not blaming anyone, as losing a post counter is no big issue at all, but expecting people to periodically read their registration email sounds a bit of an oversimplification to me.
By the same logic for which no big issue derived from the failed opt-in here (it is a community with no big implications on its users), the users shouldn't really be expected to read their emails.
The twitch account merging was much more directly warned.
Again, not blaming anybody, just a consideration and a possible insight on how we got to this point.
Just a question for clarification: Are the posts made with the old account gone forever or will they be restored?
Edit: Some older ones already seem to have reappeared. Let's see how many will...

Well, regular users cant see deleted posts/topics, so im afraid you cant check what has been deleted for you. If you - or anyone - remembers an important thread they made that they know is gone and would like us to undelete it, ask us to do so (but at least provide a name of the tread if possible). If there will be a lot of requests, we might start a separate thread for it, similar to the name change one. Sadly we cannot undelete everyone's posts, cause we would have to manually undelete every single post one by one, that is not in our capabilities.
About the email being translated into your language, i dont know what your language is, but the email was translated into French, German, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Polish and Dutch (the option to view it in those languages was at the end of the email).
The titles are tied to the post count, so yeah, sadly you lost them with the deleted posts. Tho custom titles seem to have survived, since i saw someone with the Card Design Winner title being hit by it and still had the border, so at least there is that.
Also, i dont want to sound like im making excuses, but i go the pop-up even having installed adblock (ublock origin), so it is weird that some ppl didnt get it wihout it :o But yes, this transition was handled very poorly (was outside of our hands) and we r just dealing with the fallout.
Just a question for clarification: Are the posts made with the old account gone forever or will they be restored?

It was poorly handled by others yeah but at least you guys try to make things better! A great staff etc. in this site.
Over the past day and in a process that is going to continue throughout the weekend, some accounts on HearthPwn have been renamed, had their posts wiped.
It was announced back in early December that Fandom (Wikia) had purchased Curse (the owner of HearthPwn) from Twitch/Amazon. You can read the announcement at the link below.

all my decks i got made got deleted too... is there a way to get them back? i was so proud of them and i am really, really sad that they got deleted.
You should get your decks back on first log in after the change. I see three decks iny our profile, none of them looks like they r deleted.

Wow I'm so glad I didn't miss the prompt.
This is the most dedicated I've ever been to a forum and it would have been a bit of a blow to loose everything.
My sympathy goes out to everyone who got caught up in the digital massacre of 2019. Your data is gone, but not forgotten.
