I bought this game for 20$ and i made 70$ just because i play good in draft. You can't do that in any other game.
According to what was previously written how this games works, that is incorrect. You paid another 10$ (for the 5 packs) and two event tickets (1$ each) for each draft.
But even if you are such a good player that you can make money, this is impossible for the average player. It's the same as with heroic brawl: ;ost people pay more than they earn.
Well, you can say it's more expensive and whatever... but this game is competitive - way more than hearthstone right now. You have so many interactions, and it requires a lot of deckbuilding skills.
Due to the 3 boards, the rng is less relevant.
It's pay 2 play - yes; but it's definitely not pay to win.
People can literally buy the best cards in the game -> not pay to win
Actually, the best decks around don't contain the most expensive cards...
Still doesn't change the fact that you can buy the best decks in the game.
You can buy the best decks in the game for Hearthstone and MtGA if you spend enough money to craft what you want. Owning the best decks is no guarantee that you will win consistently or know how to pilot the deck correctly.

The difference is that in Hearthstone, you can obtain the best decks without spending a dime. In artifact, you are required to shell out cash.
For the umpteenth time only one card in the game costs $20 right now, and that price will go down. All the prices will go down as demand for cards goes down due to people getting them in packs.
If you don't buy any packs and just straight up buy every card you need to complete your collection from the market it will currently cost you about $300. For every single card currently in the game.
Let's compare that to Hearthstone. $70 for 67 prepurchase packs. Say you saved up 5000 gold from quests and arena over the course of Boomsday. That's another 50 packs. So 117. That'll get you about 6 legendaries, including the gifted one, and most of the rares. You've still got a long way to go if you want to get all the legendaries. Still got 17 legendaries to go. Let's be very generous and say you get one in every 25 packs. You've gotta open 425 packs. But let's say 375 and you're able to craft the last two and extra epics from all the dust from so many packs.
All that's gonna cost you an extra $400, for a total of $470 to get the whole expansion. Even if you chop a third off of that it's about the same as Artifact's $300 for every card in an expansion. If you're talking about completing a set Hearthstone is expensive (even more so if you're grinding for gold, spending time instead of money) and you're just plain wrong if you think it's more expensive to do it in Artifact.
this are actually good numbers and theres no doubt u are right or very close to it. Problem resides in the fact that u can be a f2p in HS and actually be competitive and reach legend if u have the skill.
i have an account on NA, f2p since i created it over a year ago, and im sitting at around 3 to 4 decks t1 and t2 in both wild and standard. WITHOUT paying a dimme. just grinding it out i was able to reach it. On the first month i opened the account i was able to reach rank 5 with a decent tempo mage back when karazhan was a thing.
U cant say that about Artifact, not mention its lack of laddering system. even if there is one it wouldnt be worthwhile because how long each match takes, which it certainly fuels my control nature but since i dont have a lot of time it would suck being in a low tier rank cause aint having enough time to rank up while some shit kids with 8 hours per day in their hands are in higher ranks than me.

You don't need to get all the legendaries. Why would you want to get all the legendaries anyway? The majority of them are unplayable trash.
At this point we can't even compare the two games card collection wise because Artifact only has one set. HS was extremely cheaper, collection wise, before GvG came out. If you really want to do that comparison then wait until Artifact gets a few more sets.

Collecting all cards is quite expensive in hearthstone. Collecting all cards from the expansion requires something like 350 packs and this is a hefty sum of money.
But most people aren't interested in full collections. They want decent+ cards. And here comes the difference. From that $300 to get all cards in artifact game majority of price goes to viable cards. In Hearthstone worst legendary and best legendary have the same cost.
And, please, stop this - "F2P is more expensive because you are spending your time" bullshit. This is only true if you are doing something for grinding the gold without having fun and I pity anyone wjo does that, if they have computers with internet access, they can get better hourly rate in $ whenever they live. And it will be a more entertaining way to get packs.
Nice joke call card videogames e-sports, when is the game who decides who wins, esports are shooters, mobas, rts, sports games, when wins the most skilled players (APM, Reactions, Aim, Good decisions or teamplay) card games doest meet that requeriments.

Millions of dollars in prize money begs to disagree.

Go tell that to poker players that was they are doing is not sport. Or tell that to Olympic sailors who have a random element of wind.
The Artifact launch has flopped: according to Steam stats, the playerbase is declining, and Twitch viewership is also very low (which is shocking, so close to launch).
It is quite amusing to see streamers that left Hearthstone for Artifact, like Savjz and MrYagut, coming back after their Twitch numbers tanked. It looks like Reynad was right.
Last night HS got 200.000 viewers on Twich because of the new expansion.
On the other hand, very poor numbers for Artifact so far. I imagine lots of players buy the game, open their packs, waste their free tickets and when they realise that's all until they pay more... they come back to HS or Magic. (Or even Gwent that, let's face it, it's bloody generous).
I predicted that pro players would love it because is a good game and they don't mind spending money, but the rest of the mortals would run away. A community of pro players is not enough, and it's really sad because I find the game to be interesting.
Artifact is terrible, worst money I've spent in a while. I expected a dev team that good to produce something a little more exciting and well thought-out.
Plus, literally zero addiction aspect, it's actually dreary to play.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I wasn't planning on going for a run today. But those cops came out of nowhere.
Valve just announced that Artifact is getting a couple of basic features, like chat and a colorblind mode. The Artifact sub has gone ballistic with hype. It's the saddest thing I've ever seen.

Dr7 its back!
Millions of dollars in prize money begs to disagree.
I didn't pay shit, i sold some of my cards for ticket and got my packs from phantom draft and i didn't even get lucky. No Axe/Drow/Kanna.

"Millions of dollars in prize money" - that worked so well for Gwent, didn't it. LUL
Hey, I didn't say it was a sport that was going to last, lol.
But Artifact isn't gaining viewers, it's already losing them.
And this new expansion is far from boring.

Do you think there will be balance patches for the game soon?
Yes, probably. It will survive as a niche game, like Gwent.
