Despite the sublime mixture of cringe and snark in the title, I am actually quite serious with the question.
Mind you, this is the forum that would LITERALLY accuse Blizzard of inappropriate corporate greed if the company sent every person who has ever played a game of Hearthstone a thousand dollar check. Because of course, it should have been two thousand. But I'm curious what the new Tickatus craze is going to be this time.
For those who hang around these parts, I'm known as someone who draws a lot of accusations of stanning Blizzard despite constantly acknowledging the myriad of issues the company has. I just don't like entertaining baseless whines. But today, I have to admit, I'm going full Stan for a moment.
What you should probably know about me is back in the day, I was a bit of a WoW fanatic. Now I know, given the large number of basement dwellers who play or played the game for days on end, calling oneself a WoW "fanatic" is a bold claim, so for the record: I hit one year played approximately 19 months after the game came out, I had both Insane and Hero of Shattrath acheivement before Cataclysm and the horrible nerf to Insane, I had 100% of pvp achievements through Cataclysm, and . . . well I might as well admit it . . . I met not one, but two wives in Barrens chat.
Oh yes, Barrens chat. Kind of the whole point of this post.
If we recall the unprecedented success of Knights of the Frozen Throne, and the crazy bump to the player base and money sent on the game that set brought with it, one can imagine that Forged in the Barrens may bring a similar increase. No, I'm not suggesting Arthas's storyline and Barrens chat are on the same level, but still . . . I could see good things happening.
So, nostalgic traipse down memory lane with seemingly-interesting cards. Free Core Set that increases the relevance of the core cards to the playable meta, particularly for the historically-weak core set of shaman. Potentially interesting Slay the Spire type mini-game.
Refer to title. What exactly is the problem this time? We enjoy playing predictive games about new sets all the time, so this should be as fun as any. Shadow Hunter Voljin is a nice candidate, but I think we can get something much more arbitrary.

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
100% going to be complaints about how the new Core Set sticks the finger up at anyone who collected the full classic set and crafted golden versions of legendaries. Which includes me, but I still get to play them in Wild so idgaf.

Anyone who crafts golden deserves to get owned imo. Revenge for flaunting your wealth or poor impulse control.

This is the kind of comment that I come to this forum for. Thank you.
But on topic, I'm content with what's going on these days... honestly. I'm sure there will be some card that will totally break this place when it gets revealed. And there will be numerous forum threads talking about how game breaking it is prior to the release, even if it turns out to be a total dud and never sees any play. (See: Glide)
But as someone who also played a lot of WoW in the early days, it's pretty nostalgic to have a Barrens themed expansion, and I'm sure the next two will hit a similar chord. So I'm looking forward to it.
All the planned changes seems like they could be good. The rewards track feels okay now, and they said they plan to make it better, too.
Wow, you made an entire post without trying to validate your opinion with the fact that you “went to law school” and are “a lawyer.”
What an insecure b)%^* you are. BTW, I agree with everything in your post.
now..... remove this post for being too accurate and real.
As I've said more times than I've mentioned being a lawyer . . . quite a few more times . . . I would be the last person to suggest being a lawyer validates anything except perhaps knowledge of a specific area of the law you might practice. And even then, no guarantees. Given some of the troglodytes that graduate Tulane, I would never suggest such a thing.
Glad you read my posts closely enough to catch that, given that in 1108 posts, pretty sure I've mentioned that about 6 times.
In any case, there was actually an intelligent reply here, which is noteworthy. The folks who crafted golden legendaries are definitely going to go nuts.

I would tend to agree with you if Blizzard wasn't responsible for targetting people with poor impulse control (more people than you think, since the entire society is built on this model) with predatory tactics. I mean that's the whole point of golden cards right, and I think most players have crafted at least one golden card.
Anyone who crafts a golden card is a victim. They should either be the base cards or not exist.
You have to ask yourself two questions: do you trust Team 5? Do you trust Team 5 to strike an appropriate balance?
Whatever bias you possess will factor into your answer, but I'll state this: in an expansion about Old Gods, only 1 of the Old Gods is 'kinda' playable. That's not cynicism.
Hope there's some good opinions out there on this matter still lurking around hearthpwn.
Jesus, you are one long-winded, exhausting human being. It’s one of the drawbacks of having an above average IQ and vocabulary, I suppose.. You can’t just say something and be done with it.
I have no idea how someone as intelligent as yourself can enjoy a child’s game. Me on the other hand.....

I’ve crafted plenty of golden legendaries & have no issue with what they’re doing. Those cards will still exist in wild & could be brought back at some point since the core set rotates yearly. I have no clue why people are up in arms over this.

Granted I'm not going to take more than about 30 seconds to check this, but I'm pretty sure the only two 5 syllable words in the OP were "inappropriate" and "unprecedented" and if that's what you call an above-average vocabulary . . . never mind, "self-deprecation" is too above average.
On a serious note, I enjoy Hearthstone the same way I enjoy chess and Starcraft 2. All 3 are games as childish or adult . . . ish . . . as you choose to make them. The idea that someone would govern their hobbies by other people's perception of what age group should enjoy them, though! Thank God most people don't live like that; otherwise World of Warcraft would never have survived long enough to spawn Hearthstone in the first place.

People always seem to cry about something. We could simply ignore them, but the thing is that Blizzard somehow listens to their demands. Maybe because they're trying to revive the game, but eventually whiners get what they want. They got it with Yogg, they maybe get it with Tickatus.
Don't worry, people will always find something to complain about, simply because everyone has different ideas about what kind of card game Hearthstone should be. Oi, my poor impulse control should not lead to further punishment than it already causes :(
Catch ya on the flippity flop
I’ll be ready to complain if they don’t include at least one of the Highlander legendaries in the core set lol.
I’m not ready to say goodbye to my beloved highlander mage just yet.

By the way, did I mention: I'm a model
:-D
Blizzard needs to listen (carefully) to community,
Since they ignored - what you have now is a destruction of the entire streamers scene, no one plays HS anymore (BG is not HS)
and main reason is the price, BG is free so it has large community and therefore streamers play that,
HS is so expensive that most community couldn't catch up and the entire ecosystem collapsed.
