I don't get it. Why are so many people calling for more and more nerfs? For me - nerfs ruin all the fun and excitement in the game.
What's the point in releasing powerful new cards, when they'll get nerfed anyway?
I always feel cheated. Oh wow, there are these awesome cards that make or break a deck .... aaand they're gone!
Well, then I'll play an old but strong deck in Wild instead .... aaand it's gone!
Why does it always have to be nerfs? A lot of the time, nerfs totally obliterate a card. Congratulations, Kael'thas Sunstrider is trash now, never to be seen again! One nerf wasn't enough, finally it will be dust. Is that really what you want all your potentially powerful cards to be? Just dust in the wind? There are already so many cards no one ever plays ....
All that happens: a little less powerful cards/decks will become Tier 1 now. And then they'll get nerfed eventually.
Why can't there be these very strong cards for very strong decks? If people are tired of playing against them, change the Ranked System instead. Maybe create another Mode with a banlist instead of nefing cards to death? Or at least buff cards so that they can be used to take on these Tier 1 decks. There are so many options better then creating an ever growing pile of dust.
Funnily enough, I didn't play that deck once. This topic is not just about the Kael'thas nerf. It's about nerfs in general.
I'm a player since 2014 and I hated nerfs ever since. I want the game to have strong cards and decks with powerful unique effects that can win you the game. Otherwise it's just - who draws the cards with the better stats at the right time?

What I mean: I like the idea of building decks around certain cards. And often these decks get hit the hardest. Aggro will always be out there and it's a tool to get fast, cheap wins - whether you nerf it or not. But decks that do something special will rise if they're powerful enough (if not they just never take off) and fall to their demise when nerfed. And I think that's BS. There must be another option.
Yes cards should be good, but not TOO good. Kael'Thas is just broken beyond compare and honestly the nerf is a good step but I don't know if it's enough. Sometimes though, cards don't even need to be good to be nerfed. Quest Rogue for example was never really that strong but got completely crushed due to it just not being fun to play against. Meanwhile, some cards like Kael or Time Warp are both powerful and not fun to play against.
If Druid didn’t already have so many many cheating cards I think kael would be fine kept as it is, but the fact you can get free spells already once at 7 mana, which you can get to in literally 1 turn if you get a God draw is why it’s so OP.
I have to admit I often concede as soon as I see Druid. It is not fun to play against. In fact I’ve hated most of their decks since even jade Druid. I detested that deck, I detest this guardian bullshit and I detest that fucking dragon who summons a fuck ton more dragons.
My life is far less stressful just conceding to Druid and moving on to the next match :)
Kael nerf is fine - it's still an auto include in Guardian Druid, just means your best turns are capped at being grossly unfair, rather than game-ending.
Do not understand the point of the Illucia nerf yet
You didn't even have to pay or play for Kaelthas it was a free offer. Part of the reason it was nerfed so much, a free card that everyone has access to shouldn't warp the meta in such significant proportions. Same reason they nerfed most Galakronds.
"What's the point in releasing powerful new cards, when they'll get nerfed anyway?"
Balance, obviously.
"A lot of the time, nerfs totally obliterate a card. Congratulations, Kael'thas Sunstrider is trash now, never to be seen again!"
Wrong on both assumptions.
"All that happens: a little less powerful cards/decks will become Tier 1 now. And then they'll get nerfed eventually."
No they won't if they don't break balance.
"Why can't there be these very strong cards for very strong decks?"
There are.
"Or at least buff cards so that they can be used to take on these Tier 1 decks."
They tried that and are positive to do it again.
Sorry, what was your point again? Your opinion is not unpopular, it's just bad.

There's no deck that gets played more than, what, about 20% of the time? So a nerf to one, while it lessens one person's fun, improves the fun for four other people.
While I think some nerfs are necessary, I can see where you're coming from! Personally, I would like to see Blizzard buff some cards from time to time. There are so many interesting and creative cards that require strategic deck building, but never see any play due to how bad they are. What's the harm in Bogstrok Clacker being a 3/4? What about Al'ar being a 7/4? Or drop Whirlkick Master to one mana?
Nerfs are good every now and then, but I notice how a game like Legends of Runeterra more so frequently buffs cards to give all archetypes a fair shot. There was a card called Aurora Porealis that cost seven mana and saw absolutely no play. Once Riot buffed it to six mana, it inspired a deck that sees decent play on the ladder today. Blizzard should do the same.
I think the amount of required nerfs we are seeing is a problem. I hate to be "That" guy but expansion to expansion lately feels like cards are intentionally over powered to sell packs, with the specific intention of nerfing them later. Nerfing a favorite card can definitely make you feel cheated. While i don't expect every card to come out balanced, I think it's reasonable to expected a high degree of play testing prior to releasing a set.

Do you have any evidence that they don't? What of the 99% of cards that don't require nerfs, don't you think they play tested and balanced them correctly? It's just negativity bias talking.

Blizzard doesn't know what balance is we can see that when they reverted almost every card they buffed from rise of shadows and hall of famed the odd and even cards before they rotated...

Just my unpopular opinion.
Another guardian druid player
End of topic.
Nerfs keep the game feeling fresh and fun for everyone. Sometimes nerfs can screw you over but most of the time they get the job done. (:
Hopefully you aren't a guardian druid player talking like that (:

Because 25/28 on board and +4 /+4 for all your minions on turn 3 is not OK.

The true mystery is why are they not buffing all the of the Shaman cards (literally all of them) and searing totem?
Nerfs are okay.
