Let me give you advice by telling you to stay calm and cool and wait a week. There is no rush, let others experiment from cards they open from packs and we will find out what's actually OP. If you must craft right away, only craft commons or rares. I took a look at lightforge arena and will be commenting on OP cards:
Neutral cards:
1. Zephrys the Great (score 234) will probably be the most crafted card, might be the only safe day 1 craft. We still have to wait and see how good the AI is. I still expect it to be autoinclude in any wild Reno decks and this may force me to try a version without Prince Keleseth we may see highlander even in standard as well.
2. Octosari [/card] (score 197) is the Dr. 8 of this expansion, absolutely broken in aggro/tempo/faster midrange decks and will be in most such decks except wild odd decks. It's too slow to be run in control and combo decks since you often have a big hand and can burn key cards. We might see double [card]spellbreaker run in most decks and BGH could make a comeback in control decks too.
3. Siamat [/card] (score 175) is the Dr. 7 of this expansion. Might even be strong enough to be run in wild alongside [card]Dr. Boom in slower decks, especially Reno decks. Probably a safe day 1 craft, but doesn't hurt to wait.
4. Colossus of the Moon (score 168) is one of the most broken single 10 cost minion ever. This will make big priest in wild even more OP and make any big or control decks in standard stronger vs. the mirror. Very difficult to remove, will often end games on it's own in 2 or 3 turns.
5. Wrapped Golem (score 153) is a very strong 7 drop, could be the Bonemareof the set and a nerf candidate to 8 mana. Be sure to save a silence or BGH for this guy.
6. Vulpera Scoundrel (score 132) a strong card for discovering a board clear or removal. Looks like a great fit in control and highlander decks, including Reno decks in wild.
8. History Buff (score 129) is another insane card that can be run in almost any deck that runs minions, especially zoo decks. It's vanilla with a considerable upside and might get nerfed to a 3/3.
9. Quicksand Elemental (score 128) puts Shrinkmeisterto shame and will be run in every aggro/tempo deck so they can make value trades. Should get nerfed to 3 mana.
10. Candletaker (score 123) is a solid card for aggro decks.
11. Bug Collector (score 114) another good card in aggro and zoo decks.
A few other neutral cards may see play in the right deck, but don't look OP to me with the exception of Beaming Sidekick, an insane 1 drop.
Druids get Oasis Surger (score 205) which may replace Swipe(136) in token decks. It's way better and can trade 4 for 1 in the mirror.
Hunters get Desert Spear (score 177) which will be an autoinclude till it rotates out. Be sure to tech in an ooze! They also have Hunter's Pack (score 132) for hand refill. Scarlet Webweaver (score 109) rounds it up and lets you cheat out big beasts.
Mages have Arcane Flakmage (score 180) which is so good with secrets. They also have Reno the Relicologist (score 168) which should fit great in wild Renomages.
Paladins got three new great cards, they are Pharaoh's Blessing (157) and Subdue [/card] (148) and[card] Ancestrial guardian (139)
Shamans got an interesting card Plague of Murlocs (173) but I honestly don't see this being run because it's useless vs. aggro and you can just rush big priest by playing aggro or murloc shaman anyway and win with Bloodlust. Sandstorm Elemental (149) is another great card as well as EVIL Totem (127) and Splitting Axe (125)
Zoolocks could be the strongest deck in the expansion due to Plague of Flames (230) that lets them clear your board and rebuild theirs. Diseased Vulture (201) will win zoolocks games on it's own if it lives. They got a good removal in the form of Impbalming [/card] (168) but I don't see control warlock being viable and you can't run this in highlander. For all the hype over [card]Riftcleaver (137) it's still worse than Siphon Soul (157) and neither card sees play anyway. Sinister Deal [/card]and [card]Evil recruiter will break the game and cause EVIL Recruiter to be nerfed to 4 mana.
This is great advice if you need to maximise your resources.
The counter argument is that the expansion is the most fun in the first few weeks after release, when there is no real meta. I will be crafting stuff I like, playing for a few weeks, getting bored, and quitting until the next expansion. And repeat in 4 months. It’s the least efficient, most fun way to play Hearthstone, in my opinion.
I love these kinds of posts and it's gotten me excited for the expansion again! Are these the highest scoring cards for SoU in Light forge or just a bunch of high scoring ones you think are OP?
OP, your post is very interesting in with nice, clean, and useful information, but there are some obvious bad cards that won't see play. I'll disagree with Octosari and many neutral packfillers you mentioned. If you compare them with other cards in meta, these cards will get outperformed. I'll take Quicksand Elemental as a winner of neutral non-legendary minions you listed, it's THAT GOOD.
I've been watching a few of the videos from the pre-release games and the EVIL tournament yesterday and from what I've seen, Zephrys the Great, is absolutely awesome. It looks like Reno-Hunter will be a top deck as well. Even if the other Reno decks turn out to be rubbish I still think Zephrys the Great will be a good craft especially for those that play Wild. Great fit for any Reno deck and it may make Reno Mage (one of my favs) a decent deck that actually wins a couple of games!
Siamat also seems like a no-brainer. It's hard to imagine it being a bad card so I would be confident crafting this before even playing the first game once the set releases later this afternoon.
One of the cards missingg from this list and one that I think too many people are overlooking is Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron. Back when WotOG came out, Yogg was insane and if you had a 10 spell Yogg to claw you back into a game then you rolled the dice. This doesn't come with a body but it's a guaranteed 10 spells. Has to be a one of in the new Freeze style lists and could even find a home in Cyclone Mage as well.
I'm super excited to craft cards straight but the problem is i wont be crafting any Reno cards cause im scared of bomb warrior, as i would really like to craft Zephrys. will only be crafting siamot and priest quest on expansion
I wouldn't craft anything for roughly a month, maybe 6 weeks. That's about how long it usually takes for Team5 to talk about a balancing patch, that is likely to change the meta that has established up to that point.
If you craft a deck within the first two or three weeks because it performs well, there's a chance it will get nerfed just a bit later, like Lackey Rogue, and you probably won't get the cards refunded that you had to craft.
Also, while Commons and Rares are not big investments, only craft them if you know you won't be opening more packs, since the chance to get them in packs is relatively high, and there are hints that some more SoU packs will be rewarded for quests and tavern brawls following launch.
Arena score means nothing when it comes to constructed. A card can be insane in arena and unplayable in constructed, therefore your post is kinda useless for the most part.
I wanna discuss these cards a little bit more but before I do would any of you be interested in a STORY about Ulduum using the cards from this set? I’m a creative writer and really enjoy the ART and THEMES of hearthstone - sometimes more than the gameplay haha
I am wondering if Lightforge rate the cards in a vacuum or how they combo with other cards from this set..
Neutral cards:
1. Zephrys the Great - no doubt best of the set and will be so exciting to use. I think it will require to be put in a very expensive deck though to ensure a high win rate with it.
2. Octosari with Anka, the Buried is going to be a 1 mana Mega sprint for rogues [card=gold ]Card Name[ /card]
3. Siamat obviously Op but cool design and going to be hated pretty soon!
6. Vulpera Scoundrel Seems very fun but very frustrating when control gets a spell that wins your board or kills you on the spot.
7. Neferset Ritualist I agree. Priest quest will be so easy with this card. May not even need to run many or any healing spells. Maybe just 2x Penance.
Scarlet Webweaver This one seems broken. Especially because it is a beast. There is no way big beast hunter won't run this.
Mages have Arcane Flakmage This will be the most hated mage card of the expansion
They also have Reno the Relicologist - this will be fun but not OP. Great design. Good that it doesn't go face.
Paladins got three new great cards, they are Pharaoh's Blessing and Subdue. Subdue seems boring but will be powerful. Ancestral Guardian will be op with Pharaoh's Blessing! Turn 4 Guardian. Turn 5 buff guardian if not dead or subdue a minion to 1/1 and trade with guardian. turn 6 Buff Guardian or Reborn guardian with Pharaoh's blessing.
Is it just me or is this set calling for more silences than any other set of Hearthstone?
Priests got an insane 9 mana board clear Plague of Death. Will be fun but not OP like scream. Holy Ripple is very versatile and exciting! Maybe Lightwarden decks could work?
Penance seems really good but will probably fizzle a lot of the time and not provide enough value.
Rogues will love to run Sahket Sapper - i agree with you on sapper. Not sure how great Bazaar Mugger will be unless it can be buffed or altered somehow. Pharaoh Cat cute card and pretty exciting.
No mention of rogue quest? I feel it will be so easy to complete and the weapon seems OP!
Shamans got an interesting card Plague of Murlocs I agree with you here but it will be their get out of jail free card when things don't go their way in a variety of games/match ups. Control aggro etc.
Zoolocks could be the strongest deck in the expansion due to Plague of Flames (230) that lets them clear your board and rebuild theirs.
- agree that kind of removal is too good!
Diseased Vulture (201) will win zoolocks games on it's own if it lives. I think warlocks will build deck around buffing this card.
They got a good removal in the form of Impbalming [/card] (168) but I don't see control warlock being viable and you can't run this in highlander. You sort of can't run it you're right but if it would be just a one of and you could hold it in hand for emergency maybe. Maybe the highlander deck can last long enough until the imps are free?
For all the hype over Riftcleaver (137) it's still worse than Siphon Soul. I don't know if I agree with you. It provides pressure and removal in one. And it's a demon. And it's good in wild when you spell cost too much. But maybe it's too random to be reliable.
- I agree and i also wonder why you didn't talk about the warrior card that makes copies of damaged minions?
Warriors got a weapon that's even better than Fiery War Axe (143) in the form of Livewire Lance (205) better save your oozes! Yeah it's an ooze meta for sure!!!
- True! I absolutely HATE Omega Devastator. It stopped me playing ranked and made me quit the game for ages. It's ridiculous how it can be discovered about 6 or 7 times in a game. I don't know why they didn't nerf it or change it so it wasn't a mech.
I truly think the only safe legendary craft is Siamat. Zephrys the Great is amazing, but the success of Highlander decks will be mostly determined by the presence of Bomb Warrior/Shaman.
Other than that, I add myself to the list of people that just craft and play what they want. I managed to get almost all of the Quests in my packs, and Zephrys and Dinotamer Brann, so Reno Hunter will be my first deck. Can't wait.

^This. HS isn’t a competitive game of skill nor resource management. It’s s game of awesome meme decks!
A lot of good advice here, and all in all a nice pre-release reminder to be careful with crafts in the beginning of an expansion. However, I think OP is wildly overestimating some of the cards described - as with most expansions, I predict only a handful of cards will se competitive or "serious" ladder play. And the meme cards will see meme play. There will be very few OP or "game breaking" cards.
Octosari is an 8-mana, vanilla stated minion with zero immediate impact on the board. If it's too slow for combo and control, how can it not be too slow for aggro? What aggro deck - assuming it doesn't concede when it hasn't won by turn 8 with an empty(ish) hand - wants to play this, just to have it silenced by control or ignored by opposing aggro decks?
Colossus of the Moon is trash. Straight up. 10-cost minions by and large aren't good, and this is no Tyrantus either. There are situations where you'll be happy to get this from Conjurer's Calling, but that's about it.
Obsidian Destroyer didn't see play. Reborn likely isn't that good, so I don't believe a worse card in Wrapped Golem will either, despite being neutral. The certainly doesn't warrant nerf predictions or teched in silence cards.
I'll admit I'm not entirely sure on Quicksand Elemental, but my guess is that the tempo/aggro decks would rather just go face, rather than play this in order to make better trades.
Paladin got Subdue, which may go straight into Shirvallah OTK. Other than that, I think the paladin set is either garbage or unsupported at the moment (or indeed both...).
I don't see zoo running Plague of Flames. It never considered Demonbolt, which could do the same thing (albeit at a higher cost, usually) without wrecking your own board. If I'm playing against zoo and they rip a Plague, most of the time I think I'm happy. And the rest of the time I'm probably playing the mirror - or some other hyperaggressive deck.
Been playing since early 2015 & I've been a wild players for quite some time now (once they made standard/wild) , I main wild and only dabbled in standard for easy ranked wins against rank 15+ players.
Being a long time wild players and an even longer time "highlander" warlock/mage player, I can admit that making a 1 of highlander deck in standard nowadays might prove to be difficult. I say this for a couple of reasons. The card pool is no1 close to what it used to be in terms of sheer size and power level. A real issue is the win condition aspect opposed to the survival aspect. Meaning I cam survive and make the new highlander cards work, but how do I win?
In RenoLock you had your nzoth, guldan , sylvanas etc etc to make big sticky boards at the end of the game, Reno lock you had so much value generation to out value your opponent ( they can deal with everything!) and ways to manipulate your opponents deck (dirty rat, coldlight Oracle, deathlord etc) as well as board clears to keep you from taking damage. Oh and let's not forget about brann + kazakus my goodness, soo op for any class that wants to play reno. Then theres what started all this, the original Reno, to go from 1hp back to 30!
What I'm getting at is with the cards I've seen in standard, and what's coming out today, I really dont think highlander decks will be tier 1 domination. In wild yes, but standard I just think they will be substantially weaker than there counterpart in wild. It will definitely be fun to play and create decks, but, I dont think these 5 cards for highlander is enough to warrant a OP deck. Hopefully in the coming expansions this will change but from the looks of it today, I dont think so. If I receive the cards for free or from packs that's fine, but I wont be using any of my dust to create them until I see some progress in cards.
Hopefully im wrong bc like I said my favorite deck of all time was RenoLock, and the best I ever did in ranked wild was with this deck (rank 4 =/)
I do think that non highlander decks will rule for a while, especially quest shudderwock shaman! This will be the best deck in the game. They have so many tools to use, clears, heals, damage, aggro, control, card generation.. it's just going to be a great class in my opinion with SoU. Make way for the Rise of Shaman!! Or should I say Shamans of Uldum!
Also, king pharois in mage and siamat will be the best or most played neutral cards, next to zephyris who will be experimented with alot. Warlock, the 4, 5, and 6 mana cost class minions are gonna be good cards, warlock needed them. The rest of the classes will be fun and pretty balanced. I see alot of fun archetypes I want to try
Well see you all on the battlefield, good luck and well played!
Let me give you advice by telling you to stay calm and cool and wait a week. There is no rush, let others experiment from cards they open from packs and we will find out what's actually OP. 7. Neferset Ritualist (score 130) will be great in midrange decks, especially priests and make cards like Injured Blademaster insane.
12. Temple Berserker (score 112) still another good aggro card.

Restless Mummy (165) could replace Omega Devastator which is bad vs. aggro anyway. Frightened Flunky (161) is an insane card in every warrior deck, period! It beats Stonehill Defender (124) by a mile!
This is all guys! Read my long guide carefully and feel free to comment!

where did u get the scores

7. Neferset Ritualist I agree. Priest quest will be so easy with this card. May not even need to run many or any healing spells. Maybe just 2x Penance.
8. History Buff Fun card :)
9. Quicksand Elemental This will be fun to play but depressing to play against.
10. Candletaker Agreed.
11. Bug Collector Boring design but i agree.
12. Temple Berserker Seems good and fun :)
Beaming Sidekick, an insane 1 drop. (I agree with you there!)
Oasis Surger - Too good with the quest! I think it should be nerfed to 6 mana or be 2/2 instead of 3/3
Desert Spear will be an autoinclude till it rotates out. Be sure to tech in an ooze! I agree and with Hunter's Pack we will see as many as four of them in a game! Maybe 5 if the Vulpera is lucky.

Zoolocks could be the strongest deck in the expansion due to Plague of Flames (230) that lets them clear your board and rebuild theirs.

What aggro deck - assuming it doesn't concede when it hasn't won by turn 8 with an empty(ish) hand - wants to play this, just to have it silenced by control or ignored by opposing aggro decks?
or u can enjoy the game and craft whatever the *** u want :) just saying
Yes, because putting thought into something means you can't enjoy it, famously.
Can somebody explain me why you overrate octosari.
