Are you guys excited now all carfs of SoU are released? I have been excited for every single expansion that was released so far. Even tough the cards didn't always look that interesting or exciting to me, the change in the meta en deck-building always had me hyped!
This time around however, I'm kinda torn. The cards look fresh and exciting in my eyes. But it just so happens that I'm a paladin main player. I do play other classes every now and then, but it's mostly just paladin. And even though other expansions have had weak paladin cards, this expansion it just looks so so so bad for paladin! :o
I don't see how a paladin is going to keep up against cards like the hunter hyena or the shaman quest.
Maybe I'm wrong and a good paladin deck will rise. Other than mech paladin that is.. or maybe it's just time to switch up the game for myself and start playing other or even all classes!
Let me know how you feel! Are you scared, excited or bored? Sorry for the long read boys, love you!
Paladin got dumped on this expac. :( But it's not all hopeless. Injured Tol'vir is looking sweet for Call to Arms decks if you're a wild player. Salhet's Pride doesn't create any new archetypes, but it fits well into combo decks just as a good cycle.
Luckily for me I do Druid as well and have some spicy OTK decks in mind, one of which involves Octosari. Hopefully everyone else's new decks will be slow enough that I get it off at least once.
How the new imbalanced undiverse meta will take shape.
How as a golden card design rule 75% ranked archetypes will be aggro/aggressive and 25 % railroaded/OTK decks (such as bomb warrior/ innerfire priest) - nothing new in the creative/skill/strategy department expected.
How card design and maximizing marketing driven pack selling (play as mindless as possible) will take shape this time.
Which classes will as habitual contribution to undiversity will fall from ladder this time.
Which classes will contribute to the habitual polarization of the meta this time.
How steep/deep RPS will be this time.
How low the skill floor will be this time.
Yes....really exited.

Yeah, I'm excited. I can't put it into words, but it really feels most classes have matured and settled down with their own flavor. (With the exception of Paladin; I can't understand the reasoning behind the cards they got this time)
I'm hoping though there will be some hidden possibilities with Paladin, but they currently don't have the "wow" factor like some other classes do.
I can't speak for this expansion yet because it hasn't come out, but despite the habitual complaining of the community that is common to any game, the hs design team has really upped their game in card design compared to the days of MSoG, KFT, and K&C. IMO their latest unequivocal fuck-up is Baku and Genn (which took too long for them to take action on), but since then polarization has gone down, meta diversity has been quite stable, otk prevalence is pretty low but has its place, and nothing feels too "unfun" with the currently debatable exception being Dr. Boom.
Not to mention they've recently been more active in nerfing cards and even buffed cards mid meta for the first time last expansion. If the trend continues, then this cycle will be good. I really hope I'm not wrong, fingers crossed.

Have you quit the game yet? It really seems that the game doesn't give you joy and if that's true, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Standard low to none insightful response of a tribe called fanboy (don't think, little substance, absent content, go face and call that 'joy'). Usual target audience of yet another expansion.

Instead of going ad hominem why not refute my points. I'm not attacking anyone or trying to please anyone either, this is my own experience over the last 3 years. My points actually touch upon yours, such as the fact that polarization has actually gone down (there are metrics for that). Also check out the meta diversity and archetype spread on vs or hsreplay, it's definitely not 75% aggro and 25% otk.
Let's have a constructive and critical back and forth :) I can learn something from your perspective and you can learn from others' as well

@Kwakdizzle, don't bother with this guy. If you need to know what his deal is, go to his profile and read that terrifying monstrosity of a bio.

Oh wow I'm low-key tempted to peer review and feedback that... I mean besides the half dozen spelling and grammer mistakes (also in his signature, it's "depth" not dept"), but doesn't matter, maybe he's not a native speaker (I'm guessing he's Dutch based on his English writing). There's a lot of assumptions, simplifications, and fallacies. But it's clear his mental state of approaching this game and evaluating it is set, so yeah, I won't bother attempting to change his perspective.

As soon as I noticed the "Thinker" profile pic, I knew something was up.

Looking at your 3 years on this forum you should've concluded by now that a back and forth on this issue is useless. Opinions are fixed between those fellow travelers on the bandwagon of card designers and those who argue a higher skill floor, more diversity, no classes falling from ladder, a shallow-up of RPS (no polarization). A marketing- target audience trade that has been going on 6 years now. Been arguing this with a diverse kind on this forum over the years. Won't start again.
As such and as for the ad hominem, your assertions and observations that most is fine is a direct result of fellow traveling. Able to jump off and take a step back is quintessential for analysis.
Happy travels.

paladin is in what we call a "building year"
Yeah maybe. I'm mostly worried because I already know the quest is going to be trash, and Blizzard doesn't usually carry keywords over into the next expansion. If Reborn Paladin isn't good now, it'll probably never be.

Ok, I'm going to dissect your points even though I said I wouldn't bother trying to change your view. For the sake of dialogue.
1: "Back and forth is useless"is only true if both parties arguing are of that mindset. Who is to say, if both of us have an open mind and backed up points to make, we can't discuss things? Don't ever throw away the use and importance of dialogue if you and the other person is of a temperament where clearly it can happen. I can tell you right now I'm more than happy to.
2: "Opinions are fixed between those fellow travellers on the bandwagon of card designers and those who argue a higher skill floor, more diversity, no classes falling fromladder, a shallow-up of RPS (no polarization)." People have argued for those principles. Kibler's video on Genn Baku got a lot of attention, VS's article on increasing polarization made waves and prompted a hugely downvoted defensive response by Mike Donais, NO-ONE enjoyed shamanstone during LoE. Bandwagoning implies a mass following, but mass dissent has been far more the norm. And, thankfully, the HS team usually eventually listens. Nerfs are quicker and more spontaneous than they have been, and I will be the first to say that I still think it's not good enough, but the trend is promising. Not to mention WE GOT BUFFS FOR THE FIRST TIME :D
3: "your assertions and observations that most isfine is a direct result of fellow traveling." This is not an argument. You can't claim where my argument comes from and have that be enough to refute it. Especially if what you claimed as a priori isn't even true.
My tips for your future arguments is not to rely on psuedo-philosophical fallacies devoid of real statistics, case examples, and quotations. Everything you say so far is based off whims of "bandwagoning" and spiralling decrease in quality. I have look at polarity, meta diversity, developer intervention, etc, in terms of actual stats and deeds. And my interpretation is that things have gradually improved. I'm fully cognizant of bad practices and grievances when and where they exist. This thread asked whether I'm excited and I answered in optimism, but that doesn't mean I am a fanboy. I have my fair share of wishes and complaints. I just happen to like the new set so far, and will be fully open to being corrected if it sucks.
The first couple of weeks will be really fun, playing with the new cards. After that, not so much. I have played since beta and you have to be realistic about HS and it’s limitations.
No, I am not. I am here to complain infact. I really don't understand how can you be happy. Don't you see that the game is always the same? Nothing is changing in the game, the idea are always recycled.
We still don't have the hero cards for the classes that are missing and Big Priest is still not nerfed. How can you be happy? Because you have seen cards with old machanics? I don't understand.

Generally Im excited, I just REALLY hope that the new Yogg spell wont be a part of the new meta.

I'm excited to try highlander decks again in standard :D
Not excited for more control and bomb warrior though, those decks have had their turn and there needs to be a nerf to mechs/dr boom.
Oh and the quests look cool. Will be trying those a lot for sure
