in the first time since 3 years, I think I am not going to pre-order the newest expansion. I think there is way too much aggro/combo support and way too less control support.
Thinking of quests and the revealed legendary minions, excpept for warrior no class is getting decent control tools.
What do you guys - especially the control-players - think about this?
Dont forget that there are already plenty of control tools in both the classic and current standard sets.
The idea is that the new expansion should compliment these, rather than replace them. Until we see the meta begin to shape, it is still too early and difficult to make solid predictions about what is available / lacking in terms of deck types.
watch this space..............MECH HUNTER will still be tier one after this expansion, but having said that really looking forward to the new expansion
This is a positive. Encourage a bit more diversity. I’m a control warrior fan myself but it’s getting a bit old now and it will be refreshing to play some board centric strategies and the odd combo.
I don't know what you consider decent control tools, but Shaman, for example, got a very powerful board clear and a mass polymorph, on top of what they already have. Many of the quests support a slow playstyle with more value in the lategame. Besides, good control tools have always been rare. Most expansions feature just a handful of them - a few taunts, a few healing cards, some lategame legendaries, and sometimes a board clear or two. I don't know what you were hoping for, but Uldum doesn't look any worse to me in that regard than Witchwood or Old Gods, for example.
That being said, current Control Warrior forces this direction of aggressive and combo decks, as other proper Control decks simply can't keep up with the hero card. Many think that Bomb and Control Warrior will continue to warp the meta unless nerfed. So, I can't say I'm unhappy with support for those decks.
If you are displeased with the expansion and don't want to preorder, that's alright. But trying to make a point because there's not enough Control in there is, in my opinion, silly.

Ok I'll give you the board clear. The mass polymorph, however, will probably mostly used for an aggro-playstyle. The quests all support an aggro/combo playstyle. as you can achieve the rewards ridiculously easy. Traditional control classes like Priest totally shift away from control (besides the 9 mana board clear). Warlock mostly got zoo-support and mage got insane tools for tempo-secret shenanigans.
What decent control tools? Just look at the new warrior cards.

Shaman quest supports ridiculous battlecry damage into your opponents face. Priest's quest reward will end the game a few turns after it got acheived. Rogue quest is perfectly fitting for an aggro-playstyle. Mage's is clown fiesta.

Sorry, that is simply not true. The Witchwood had a lot of control tools for every class. Baku and Genn were insanely bad designed but other than that, the expansion had a variety of control cards. With Old Gods it's the same.

That's why I want to see good control tools in other classes. We only got them for warrior again. Which is just as bad.

I think it is a valid point if you are a control-only player. Compare with other expansions. In fact, the expansions you just mentioned.
Im super happy after the last Expantions were super Control heavy. I had like no fun playing against 100Armor and 300 Borad Clears every game. Thats the first expention im realy Hyped about in a while.
Well, if you limit yourself to a single style of play you have no right to complain. That's like someone who played nothing but Aggro Shaman back when it was the top dog requesting more borderline broken cards so he can keep steamrolling other people. The current iteration of Control Warrior is obnoxious enough to play against, do you really want other classes to become as powerful? So that the only question left is "who can build the greediest deck?"
Control Warrior finally found its teeth (not that it wasn't ludicrously strong; they've just been basically gumming everyone to death in RoS) and everyone else got some incredible tools to help end games. Games end quicker. You know, quicker than the 30-minute Control Warrior matchups.
Fun fact: Control Warrior had always been about playing big scary minions and winning with them up until RoS. Now with their new taunts and taunt buffs they finally have large threats again and have no excuse to still be running 30+ removal cards. WHAT a relief.

Wow. Okay, so as a control player I am not allowed to miss control cards in new sets. And the comparison is just bad. I am not saying I want OP control cards, not at all. I am even saying that Control warriors in their current state are not satisfying to play against. I just want to see control-related cards, that are in my opinion very rare in SoU. I've never said something you accused me for. But nice try.
If you are a control player, you should welcome aggro tools because control is favored over aggro.
But reading further, I see you are actually complaining about midrange tools. And in fact, that is the thing that most impresses me about this set -- the strong midrange presence. I'm sure Team 5 wants to prove it's possible to knock Dr. Boom off his pedestal without resorting to the Hall of Fame.
So yeah, sorry it's not your cup of tea, but I'm quite happy with what's in store. My only disappointment is that they are giving Warrior another infinite-value tool that we'll have to live with for the next two years.

Wow, a reply you can actually discuss with. Thank you.
Well, I think that control decks actually are better against midrange than aggro. But, yeah, I was probably also referring to midrange tools. In any way your point is probably right and control decks (with other classes than warrior/mage) will have a better time in the new meta.
However, I still miss cards within the classes (apart from warrior) that really support new control decks, even if I think that you're right about Blizzard reviving midrange will be a plus for control players in general.
What a nice off-topic answer @TardisGreen. I just can hope that not all of your 1,000 posts are that toxic.
Pretty sure he is on topic and just described your original post pretty well. I would refer you to the salt thread, but I'm not sure if it still exists or how to find it. I'm sure you can locate it.

The Salt-thread is still there at the top of this forum (should you need to find it). :-)

Also, do you consider e.g. Arcane Flakmage or Flame Ward Aggro/Combo cards? What about Holy Ripple or Penance? Subdue? Plague of Flames?
Control is very good in wild. I dont see any reson to ignore new set.
Control players never stop crying. Every deck that beats them is unfair.

Which combo tools you see in this expansion ?
