It may be deliberately underpowered because of synergy cards we haven't seen yet. Whalen mentioned "time warp" and something else so we know there will be at least two cards that interact with schemes.
So let's look at the schemes we've seen so far. Hagatha's isn't infinite value. After a certain point you're just clearing the board and the extra damage doesn't matter. Lazul's scheme is the same but going the other direction. Once the scheme gets to where it reduces attack by 7 or 8 the extra upgrades are likely to just be overkill. Rafaam's caps at 7 imps. Speeding up these three schemes helps but doesn't pose a threat of getting insane value out of them.
Togwaggle's and Dr. Boom's schemes have infinite value so let's look at them. If you speed up Togwaggle's you get a ton of cards in your deck, but once you get into the infinite value range it starts to not matter if you have 19 Deathwings shuffled into your deck instead of 9. So actually, as with the previous 3 schemes, there's a limit to how much value you really get out of the card.
Dr. Boom's scheme is the only scheme that truly offers pure infinite value. Depending on the cost, effects, and opportunity cost of these "time warp" kind of cards, if they turn Dr. Boom's Scheme from 4 mana gain 10 armor into 4 mana gain 20 armor then this card might become playable.
..............still doesn't explain why the card art has zero to do with gaining armor though 0.0
Time warp is the mage quest reward bud. They were joking that the turn limit could technicly be higher then 45. Couldnt imagine a card that doubles schemes progress unless it‘s an end of turn minion effect. Unplayabel in warrior because it technicly would say „gain 1 armor at the end of your turn“
I was really angry when i saw this card. If it would be gain 2 armor we could starttalking but 1 armor - get me out of here. It's a joke trust me. I have a lot of warrior knowledge and although warrior can sometimes just play nothing they still need cards that are good in topdeck and are consistently good decent cards witch this is definitely not. Blizzard should change this card to gain 2 armor but as it looks like druid is still better in armorgain than warrior. I love this game but this is just a joke and not a funny one at that ...

Whalen said "I think if you time warp you get more than your fair share of--" and then he was cut off. He sounded like he was talking seriously about how schemes can be buffed. I don't think he was talking about the Mage quest. Maybe he was and they were just joking but it sounded like he let slip a spoiler. He did it another time in the stream, mentioning Khadgar before he was revealed. And yeah the other thing he mentioned was just end of turn boosting cards in general. I only know of Drakkari Enchanter and it's rotating. We'll see. If there are no scheme boosting cards this card is garbage. If there are it could end up benefiting massively and much more than the other schemes.
This card is obviously "summon 1 boombot + upgrade every turn) it was too op for obvious reasons but they didn't have time to switch art and the team is incompetent so they left it as is only changing the effect.
if you can skip ahead for a lot of end of turn effects it would be broken with cards like rag or lich king in wild..
It's really disheartening to see this card since it s a really dumb card
Fair enough, let's assume there is some crazy unknown, never heard of OP synergy that makes this card miraculously give you at least 20-30 armor.
If there's a card that doubles or triples armor gain, why wait 4+ turns for this, instead of just using the cheaper Shield Block that also draws you a card? If there's a mechanic that gives you multiple turns (which sounds unfair), why not use that to actually win games? If Warriors can effortlessly stack 30+ armor, that would be like Odd Warrior minus the limitations - is that really what you want?
Theoretically, you could think of something that makes even this card "good". But chances are, whatever you come up with, another card will make better use of it. There is no hidden effect here, it's a flat 4 mana to gain armor - very little room to sneak in something here, especially since there are so many cards in Warrior that do the same thing, except for less mana or with helpful side-effects.
Even if it is exactly like Purify, a terrible card that can be used to some effect two expansions later, it's a bad and boring card nonetheless. Purify, while overcosted, at least encourages you to use big minions that can't attack, and try to make them work. What are you inspired to do with Dr. Boom's Scheme then? Stall the game indefinitely and laugh at your opponent because you have all the armor in the world and the game is decided by fatigue after 15 minutes of boredom? What an innovative concept for a class that has been doing exactly this for most of Hearthstone's lifetime.
Maybe they will try their hardest to make this good. Then you end up with 5, 6 or more cards all dedicated to make a terrible card playable - and if it fails, they all fail. Look at how many cards Warlock has to swallow every year because Team5 thinks that Discard is a fun mechanic. Maybe it will work some day in distant future - doesn't change, that Warlocks every so often only get 6 or 7 class cards per expansion, because there needs to be more Discard synergy, until we finally use all those Discard cards. Except for Doomguard, how dare you use Classic cards in Standard?!!
Turn it any way you want. Even if some day, it is somehow "good", Boom's Scheme is still boring, uninspired, lazy trash that I'd rather see deleted before the expansion launches to spare myself the miserable feeling when seeing it in card packs.
If Purify can see play then anything can see play. They just need to make a 2 mana card that doubles your armor gain like Kangor.
Don't you still just want to play shield block instead?
That's the part that kills me about this card. Not only is it worse than a basic card, but it's MUCH worse than a basic card in about 99% of situations.
you should be happy that this card is as terrible as it is. if it was slightly better and therefore almost auto include it would be such a whine-about card since losing to your opponent getting 20+ armor out of nowhere for just 4 mana feels really really really bad.
All the schemes are bad if they dont get support cards that makes then levelup quicker. It will never be strong or consistent to have cards that u cant use and just sits in your hand for many turns. Sure u can get great value out of the cards, but at the cost of having had many turn with less options.
Turn it any way you want. Even if some day, it is somehow "good", Boom's Scheme is still boring, uninspired, lazy trash that I'd rather see deleted before the expansion launches to spare myself the miserable feeling when seeing it in card packs.
It probably will end up a shit card. We'll know soon enough if schemes get support. True, multiple end of turn buffs would break Wild and maybe standard. If another card is gonna make this good it would have to be either a neutral minion that speeds up only schemes or a warrior card that doubles armor gain a la Kangor.
That's basically hoping against hope though. This card is indeed disheartening. Part of it is just it being The Worst Card Ever by itself. Part is that armor gain is underwhelming. But the main reason this card is so sickening is because of the card art. It really just makes you think they changed the card at the last minute, which gives the impression that they don't have their shit together and they totally screwed the pooch on something that Warrior players were really hoping would be playable. It was something cool but imbalanced and they tried to make it work but failed miserably and at the very last second they were like "uhhhh.....fuck I don't know. Make it gain 1 armor per turn. It'll be unplayable but at least we know it won't break the game." Pathetic. I could walk in knowing nothing and do better.
Even during the reveal stream when that card came up Whalen kinda sounded rueful. Kinda sounded like "Yeeaahh that's...a new card." You could almost feel him wanting to sigh with regret at how they had totally fucked up a marquee card.

I'll stick to Shield Block

Ill be playing bomb hakkar warrior. So ill gladly take that extra bit of armor gain
If you have a deck idea might as well go full ham on it.

Exactly. That right there would make this card insane.
not even then this card is overcosted
Iron hide wasn’t played and for 1 mana you would gain 5 armor
This is terribly overcosted
I also dont understand the art. or the effect. this card is just dumb.
Rejoice, for even in death, you have become children of Thanos.

nobody will play that card but maybe rafaams scheme is even worse
Don't you still just want to play shield block instead?

Inb4 they nerf it because it’s an “auto include” (not allowing new cards to see play)
Even if they will make a card something like "heal when gains armor", any other armor gainer is better then this one.
you should be happy that this card is as terrible as it is. if it was slightly better and therefore almost auto include it would be such a whine-about card since losing to your opponent getting 20+ armor out of nowhere for just 4 mana feels really really really bad.
