i agree. i didn't get to play a ton last month, so finished at rank 13. went back to 17 and immediately am facing tier 1 bs. At the start of the season it was refreshing to have a couple days were rank didn't matter - to just play silly fun decks. Now I feel like I have to play tier 1 right away in order to not lose stars and find myself all the way back at 20. It would be a hell of a climb from 20, so I'm being forced not to meme at all this month to keep what little rank I have left :( Feelsbadman.
I like what they've done, but I ended at Legend last month and should have been rank 4 to start this season. Following the "fix" I found myself at rank 5 instead. Not a huge deal, but grinding 5-legend is hell. An entire rank lost? Brutal.
Didn’t play much last month so started in the 20’s. Up to 13 now and there did seem to be a hell of a lot more variety and non meta decks during that climb. Also saw more mistakes from other players.
So with the goal in mind of having things get harder and more serious as you level I think it was a great success.
Not a fan, considering i don't get to play more than 3 or 4 battles most days (and some none at all), I'll most likely go backwards monthly. They've made it a lot harder for those of us who have a life outside of hearthstone to do anything as far as the ladder goes.
I wonder if - since the rewards are the same - this will lead to less people playing Hearthstone. I hit rank 5 in 4 games on the second day of the month. So if I were only after that golden epic, I'd have no incentive to play ladder seriously.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
I think this change is great for people that play rank 5 to legend. They don't have to climb as much, and kind of stay in their lane with the other legend grinders. For people like me that don't like the grind and play from 15-10 this is terrible. 5 stars at each rank is the main reason I usually stop at 10. Just feels like it takes for ever to make ranks. I don't think this will help noobs hit rank 15 either because there are still going to be good decks from 19-15. Maybe it helps noobs with small collection's have better matches in 25-20.
I wish idiots would stop saying "omg netdexzzzzzzz." Like that's the reason they can't go higher on the ladder. (Hint: it's not them, it's you.)
Welcome to card games. People play the best decks.
The ladder changes weren't supposed to change the decks that you encounter. They were supposed to change the caliber of people you play who are piloting those decks.
Also, ladder is more cumulative now. As such, the real effects at lower ranks won't be felt for a few months.

I second that. That netdecks wouldn't magically disappear was to be expected. It's more of a quality of life change for high ranking players.
The only thing I'm pondering is whether getting legend is worth less/ easier than before.
Never hit legend before but I'm rank 2 right now already. With a pretty good feeling ill make it this time.

Except this (should) actually benefit you and all players climbing to 10 every month.
Indeed, instead of falling back to rank 19, and needing 30+ stars to get back to 10 (20 stars for 15-10, 9 stars for 18-15, + I don't remember how many stars you start with), you now only needs 20 stars to climb from rank 14 (where you start if your highest rank previous month was 10) to rank 10.
All players that regularilly ranked up to 12 (maybe even 13) now have an easier time (20 stars to climb back instead of ~24 for 19-12).
As a casual ladderer (i barely push for r15-10), i find 5 stars for each rank quite frustrating for my purposes.
I expected it, but i can't really say i am happy with it. My minimal grind got worse, from 15 stars to cross to 20.
Oh well...

8 games on rank 18... with a tally of:
... plus 2 other casuals like myself I could beat. Is it just me I wonder...
Ladder is still ladder.

I'm loving it. I got to rank 5 in no time and since I'm not a legend player I can now simply enjoy the game for the rest of the month.
It's like Blizz just gave me 3 free legendaries of my choice every year.
