I'm seeing a lot of people complaining about how Pirate Warrior is going to be the next big meta deck that rekts everything else just like Midrange Shaman. The truth is though, it won't be, not even close.
To better understand this we will need to look further into Midrange Shaman and why it really is as good as it is. Midrange Shaman was a midrange deck that just like other midrange decks easily beat Control, but it was fast enough and had enough burst to rival Aggro decks as well. It was basically the deck that could not just beat the archetype it was favored against, but also the one it was unfavored against. And this of course was due to it being really fast while also being able to defeat Control. The main cards that caused this were Thing from Below and Tunnel Trogg in my opinion.
Now comparing that with the current Pirate Warrior lists, it becomes quite clear that Pirate Warrior is not a Midrange deck, it's an Aggro deck --- and a very fast one at that. Pirate Warrior doesn't have the reliable draw, or comeback mechanics of Midrange Shaman, instead it has burst and strong weapon damage. It tries to start a strong wave of damage and Pirate synergy right from Turn 1 and hopes that by Turn 5-6 that kills you. If it doesn't, then they concede and move onto the next match. This sort of deck type is HARD-COUNTERED by Control decks. Any deck that can clear their board once, and regain some Health while doing that will be able to shut them off for the entire match. So, once people start playing optimized Control deck lists, Pirate Warrior will dwindle in population.
That being said, I'm not saying there won't be a Tier 0 deck in this meta, there probably will, but it won't be a deck like Pirate Warrior that is hard countered by the archetype many people will be trying. To all the people complaining about the meta, calm the fock down.

The problem is Control Decks are now in very bad position thanks to retarded Jade Druid.
The problem isn't Pirate Warrior, the problem is Jade Decks have forced Control out of the meta so aggro has no check. What we're seeing is a massive polarization towards non-interactive strategies, Pirate Warrior going face, Jade Druid going infinite value, Freeze Mage going combo to the point where the metagame is in deep crisis and looking for a deck that has a fair game plan that can withstand this bullshit. At a guess it's Dragon Priest or Renolock, or Midrange Shaman or Tempo Mage but the metagame feels really bad right now because the games are decided by the match up with massively favourably win percentages for one deck over the other.
Something feels really off when you're considering putting 2 Acidic Swamp Ooze in your decks or Freeze Mage feels like the only viable form of "Control," we've dealt with Face decks before but the Jade decks have thrown a massive spanner in the works.
Pirate warrior isn't really the next midrange shaman just because of a simple reason. They don't do well against every deck. Like secret paladin was good against everything else, huntertaker was good against everything else and midrange shaman was good against everything else. Pirate warrior tough isn't good against everything else at all. AND you can easily play around this deck by simply adding a bunch of weapon removal and playing reno. Don't really know why everyone is complaining about pirate warrior

Secret paladin was obliterated by freeze mage and control priest.
true, 1 comeback against pirate warrior is enough (huge taunt, weapon removal , board clear)
but against shaman i sometimes clear the board 4 times and he still manages to swarm the board will easily clearing my small stuff with the insane weapon , dealing with big minions with hex and with swarming the board with the unbelievably efficient board clears while never running out of cards thanks to the totems/azuredrakes/bloodmage
midrange shaman is the most complete deck in hearthstone history imo
That deck straight up loses the game if you can stick a taunt. People are already teched to beat it. I've seen double ooze all over the place, and most midrange decks are going to have decent sized taunts that stonewall their gameplan. It's a deck that can't win if they are forced into making trades. If you lose every time to the most popular aggro deck on ladder, you aren't a very good deck builder.
I agree that Pirate Warrior won't be the next top tier deck. Most people are still play testing with cards and other people are taking advantage of that like they do with every expansion. Pirate Warrior is just a different deck doing the same job decks like Aggro Shaman and Face Hunter have done at the beginning of previous expansions.
it seems fine , with execute nerf you can tech couple of early board clears , weapons removals , taunts and you're good to go . and always remember to burst down the warrior from 13 hp so he doesn't active double mortal strike to your face
on the other hand Aggro shaman was so strong and dominant that it bullied several slower decks out of the meta all together and people went to the only last class that could stand against it , Warrior , until the nerfs hit .

I thought it would be (see signature), but then I found out it's really easy to counter. Mistress of Mixtures Acidic Swamp Ooze Doomsayer to name a few counters.
Fuck cubelock
The rock-paper-scissors is normally:
Aggro beats Control.
Control beats Midrange.
Midrange beats Aggro.
Pirate warrior alone? No. Pirate warrior and Jade druid together is the combo that kills control.
Omg guys..
Control beats Aggro
Aggro beats Midrange
Midrange beats Control

It was hard to tech against midrange shaman. It is not as hard to tech against pirate warrior. Soon there will be harder for pirate warrior to win

Just remember the good times!
Jade Druid is destroyed by aggro. My first 3 games this morning were against Druids... So funny.

(Also it can't be the next Midrange Shaman, because Midrange Shaman beats it with ease - especially if you tech your deck against it)

Even 2 taunt minions would make Pirate Warrior very upset. Not an invincible deck but fast; I am not very upset when I lose.

Why do you say WAS? Midsham STILL IS strong. And will become popular again (with no changes) once ppl will play enough with new cards.
