I guess that now that standard mode is on the way, the deathknight, monk and demon hunter class would pretty much make sense. I mean alright in wild you can forget it but again I don't think that you need that many good cards for the wild mode to make this class playable since there will be enough neutral cards to be played. I assume that they definitely need to release a new class AFTER every kind of lore in WoW is done. Like I thought that every single god will have an own expansion but now we have one for all. This makes me think that Blizz just wants to finish the original lore ASAP and start creating their all own lore (as in LoE in some way). Guess if they truly do that, the hype will be gone faster than they can laugh...
Ever since Wrath of the Lich King, death knights have been shown to be noble outside of Arthas's control, so they would not have to be considered evil or "dark". In truth though I doubt blizzard even thought about that when releasing this card. Another example is how cards do not react differently to the various hero portraits.
Enjoy flicking to the next page of heroes to make a new deathknight/monk deck XD.
But in all seriousness, I feel blizzard intends to (and should) stick to the 9 current classes. Pls no moar classes to overrule the meta and make people crei everytiem
how do people "know" they will never add another class? If blizzard cant even fathom making another class, they are definitely the worst design team i've ever seen.
imagine if in magic they never made things because they may be new/different/complicated. never is a very dangerous word.
I agree with Zyxus77. For me there is no reason to push for new classes. And I do think that we have long ago went past that point where there was even a remote possibility for a new class to be added.
I can't quite understand why these threads pop up time and time again. Can't people see how many problems a new class would create?

Well, one thing is sure: in Magic they never added a new color with its basic lands and a whole set of past and present cards.
Not even once In 20+ years.
WotC does a lot of new things, so do blizz. Adding new colors/factions/classes is not one of them.

I bet that if Blizzard ever releases a new class, it will take like 10 years (based on the amount of time to create 9 more deck slots which we can see now. I mean it really was too complicated lol)
As others said you can't take this or another card to rule out whatever future class or futur card design Blizzard may implement. This means nothing. It's like playing flasheal with Auchenai lol
I'm pretty sure they will release new classes in HS eventually but they will do so like in WoW only when the games will need fresh and marketable features to sustain its growth and appeal. Now is not the time at all, the game is successful and has plenty of novelties coming already.
Just a question. Did Magic the Gathering ever get new classes? Don't know much about this card game but if they managed to do so then HS could probably get some too...

What's interesting to me for this as an example is that colorless mana has been a thing in the game for a super long time, all they did was add in more consistent sources of it (which did add a new land) and then made cards require a colorless source in their costs. So it's new and at the same time... Not really new at all.
I'm sure a new class is inevitable in this game, or multiple new classes even. One upside of Standard is that outside of Wild the card disparity between classes won't be a big deal; this is however assuming at some point they either expand the Classic set or move to a Core Set sort of design, which means this is going to be a long, long time out. anything sooner than 2 more standard rotations would be shocking to me to see then take a stab at new classes.
Right now Team 5 could honestly have omitted classes and been fine, there's nothing that says they need to match every class in WoW; I think it would certainly feel weird not to have all the basic classes, which is why they set it as the minimum number, but mechanically 8 classes is no more right/wrong than 9.

I think Death Knight would be more likely as a Paladin class card (either a legendary or a spell that changes your class Hero Power and cards similar to Renounce). Creating a whole new class seems untenable at this point, compared to a card that will eventually rotate out of Standard.

Do you read the point where the card explains that that symbol equals colorless mana? Do you know that colorless mana has been around since the very beginning of Magic? Oh man, they added the symbol, but neither the color nor the mechanic is new.
To put it clear: they have never made a new basic land type "desert" that adds "yellow mana" to play yellow spells and creatures (not golden, which of course is a very diferent subject, but plain yellow). Wastes give colorless mana, that has been around since the beginning of time.
And I don't think it is going to happen in HS neither.
To the people saying "Blizzard will never add another class" are overreacting. Will they do it in the next year or two? No. But there is no way that you could look in to the future and say that even in 5 or even 10 years they wouldn't add another one. In fact if this game is still thriving in 2025, and there had not been at least one new class I would be overwhelmingly surprised.

Don't think that a single card design will rule out the DK class.. It's not like a lot of things make sense.. Why would varian wrynn work fir garosh?

The card art of Renounce Darkness is enough on it's own to substitute as a "kappa" if a Death Knight class is added and you Renounce into one.
Greatness, at any cost.
