For people who seem to miss the memo, you don’t play this in a Pirate deck the same way you don’t play Kathreena in a Beast deck. You play this in a deck WITH pirates where you only play this and a few other pirates and then you play this and win. Problem is we don’t have the kinds of Pirates you would want to pair with this kind f an effect yet but they’ll be here soon probably. Ticket Scalper is pretty good.
Holy crap this is garbage. 8 mana 6/3. Wow. Man rogues are getting crap yet again. O wait we can this with the dumb shark and have 9/5 that gets silenced woohoo.
Here's the mistake you made Liam3Bucks, your two examples are LATEGAME cards, in CONTROL decks. Now look at Hooktusk, if it can't be played in Kingsbane (the only "viable" rogue control deck), what kind of viability in constructed formats will Hooktusk have? It's so unlikely it makes your comparisons ridiculous...like comparing Captain Greenskin with Alexstraza.

If you thought you knew what you think I know, then you'd know I knew you knew I know.
This can be good, but I wouldn't waste this card on an aggro pirate deck, probably. Hope we get a big pirate of 8 mana or less so we can pull three of them with this.
I hope pirate rogue do NOT become the next "hated deck" on ladder (I don't like the other word for it). Even though Team 5 is pushing it down this road.

Is this worse than N'Zoth and Alanna? Yes. My point is, you obviously can't just look at stats of the minion itself and completely disregard the stats generated by the battlecry. If you pull out even just a few 2/2's, you're getting approximately an 8-mana 12/9 with initative.
This seems like it could be broken but only if there are some really powerful rogue/neutral pirates introduced for it to summon-even if you play it with the rogue spirit on the board you'll only get two extra pirates and that's only if you've still got 5 or more pirates still in your deck by the time you use it. It's playable but I think it needs more support before it can have a meta deck built around it.

Oh, Lethal - where did you go? I miss you all the time.

N'zoth did not exist in purely control decks. Just because a card has a cost of 8+ doesn't mean it's a control card. Also a HUGE difference in what this card does opposed to the other cards (other than being cheaper than both) is that it affects the board RIGHT now due to rush. But I digress Liam's comparison wasn't to argue the merit of the cards viability but rather the fallacy in looking at just the cards stats as compared to it's cost. You brought up something totally different.
In the end, this cards power will be decided wholly on the strength of the pirates that show up, either in this xpac or future ones.
what about a comparison with Master Oakheart Both understatted both summon 3 minions, and the cost more or less the same... Master Oakheart is a very valueable card.Plus let's not forget that Rush is also involved. I don't think an aggro pirate deck could want this, but how about a midrange type? Rush means that if you are behind on the board you can also comeback. Plus this card has synergies with the epic spell and the spirit loa (double battlecry seems a bit greedy but still....).
Definetely the strongest Legendary minion this year for Rogue. Maybe this card won't see play before K&C rotations but after that she will be really strong.
Right now there are far more valuable cards for Oakheart to pull than for Hooktusk to pull.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
The card isn't "bad", but if I should play with Pirates, I don't think I want to get to turn 8 for a stabilizing effect (what Rush is usually for). Maybe there will be pirates that make better use of this, but most of them are cheap minions with little value in the lategame.
I know Team5 will never release a card with Charge ever again, but this should have been one of those: giving the summoned pirates Charge. Sure it would have been nuts, but I see no point in this version.
Pirates usually have nice battlecries, soooo why should I want to recruit them ?
Because pirates are usually pretty cheap. Therefore, card draw is pretty strong to get that extra fuel later int he game. If you are running too much card draw at 3 and 4 mana for rogue, you are losing tempo on board during some of the more powerful pirate drop turns. So 8 mana draw 3 and impact the board to get tempo back is worth losing a few battlecries

Ticket Scalper > Lab Recruiter, next turn this. That's pretty alright.

Tech card, for a faster Cthun Rogue. I like it!
Cursed Castaway also exists......Could be decent if you pulled a combination of those and the scalpers I suppose.
I know that Blizzard is a small indie company, but they introduced a keyword last year, recruit, why can't they write that on the card???
Right now there are far more valuable cards for Oakheart to pull than for Hooktusk to pull.

Best thing I did: keeping my golden Skycap'n Kragg
Pirates usually want to SMOrc (thus most have battlecries attached to them) so why doesn't it give all 3 Charge instead? It's a slow card anyway.
Yet....Haven't seen all the cards. If they don't add more Pirates (unlikely) you're right.
Let's hope they won't find a way to crack my face with 3 Southsea Deckhand with a Southsea Captain and a bigas* weapon

Because the keyword is linked to the theme of the set.
