This won't work in Standard....Unless strong Secret synergy is coming, if Mirror ain't being played then either will this. Decent in Arena when played correctly.
This is a Control Secret, rather than a Tempo Secret like Mirror Entity and Effigy.
There are definitely some situations in which you'd rather Poly your opponent's next minion than copy it. It wrecks things like Rag, Emperor, Y'Shaarj, and Ysera, (and any other strong "end of turn" effect minions).
I dig Potion of Poly, and could see perhaps running one in a Reno/Kazakus/Inkmaster deck.
all people comparing this with Mirror Entity, but in this scenario, im 8 life left and clean table, if he drop ragnaros with potion im safe, with Mirror Entity im at 50% to lose, same if u play against warrior with 4hp left and he drop the 4/3 charge.
Probably because you had a 3 mana useless card sitting in your hand all game. ;)
This is why tech cards aren't used very often; you waste a deck slot and a card in your hand hoping a scenario happens instead of playing a strong game.
the text says "after your opponent plays a minion" So it would trigger after the battlecry goes off. I think if it also nullified the battlecry it might be too powerful.
So if you play this alongside Mirror Entity then the ordering of play matter right?
If you play this then mirror entity you might just copy a 1/1. If it's the reverse you will get the copy and then transform theirs.
Which could be really good if you're expecting your opponent to play something big.
This card for me is better than Mirro entity because it's JUST LIKE Loatheb but for minions. Mirror entity might give you a minion, but depending on the circumstance all you want is for your opponent to NOT play a big minion next turn.
So all the Dr. 6/7/8 in the game won't show up until next turn, it's really good. Even with mirror entity sometimes the good play was to drop your minion anyway and remove the opponents. Now it's not the case. Good tech card.
Kind of up in the air about whether this is playable. There are so many situations where it is bad and I doubt it negates battlecries but it might be good enough for Reno Mage
For the people saying it is bad, just wait until your Ragnaros gets polymorphed on turn 8. A late secret drop is not going to be tested if you have a ten mana card unless you put off playing the card for another turn.

You weren't around for pre standard tempo mage were you? If this secret ever gets even remotely popular, people will play around it AND it's is just as easy to play around for most decks as mirror entity.
I think I like this for the new kabal style decks. It does a couple things. Late game blocker, and allows a second poly in a Highlander deck. Plus it triggers flamewaker, wyrm, etc. works great in a secret Mage as well. Combine it with a counter spell and it's the ultimate stopper. I think it'll find a place. It's not terrible for arena either.

In arena you have to wait some turns trying to catch big treats and a little of luck but works.
Also, not sure if anyone pointed this out, but it'll put the kibosh on a lot of OTK decks considering they have to drop a certain minion to start the combo.

Sigh. Because clearly they'll drop their OTK minions into this... Do people not realize you can see the Mage has a secret and, you know, not play Leroy or Malygos into it.
And considering no one will competitively run this card, I don't think it will put the kibosh on anything.
This is a really good TECH card. It doesn't matter if it gets value or not, it still breaks the enemy's play next turn.
You play this to FORCE them to test the secret. If you know your opponent is going to kill you with malygnos or a charge minion or something else to keep the board and you need one more turn (you're a mage, you're always on situations where one more turn is enough burst to defeat your opponent) you can play this. It will not end the game by itself but it will slow it down for you.
Mirror Entity has the problem that many times you don't care if the opponent will get a copy of your minion as long as you still have yours. The difference between both cards is getting full value of your minion and giving a body to the opponent or not getting any value yourself.
This is a GOOD card for control mages to be played lategame and make sure that the opponent won't play the biggest possible thing from his hand and/or make a sub-optimal play.
It's not the end-all be-all secret, but it's a good one.
I don't know that it's a fantastic card in general, given how it can be played around, but more secrets is always good for the secrets you randomly pull, though this will get played around in the same sorts of moves used to avoid Mirror Entity. What I like though is that you can drop this on, say, turn 5 and completely savage some decks' gameplans, namely their curves, by forcing them to skip that Savannah Highmane, Cairne Bloodhoof,Emperor Thaurissan, Sylvanas Windrunner, etc. In those lategame contexts, this card could, much the same as Mirror Entity, be something like "3-mana, force your opponent to float 1-9 mana or play multiple suboptimal cards from hand," which, along with the potentially more devastating silence effect that this card has over MIrror (for control mirrors with N'Zoth, the Corruptor, mainly), can be pretty good.
Still, I don't know that it's worth running in a deck given that best case. You won't be getting anything significant mostly, like with Mirror, so it could just be wasted cards and tempo for you. Cool design though, and I love anything that enhances the diversity of secrets.
I think this card exists to provide more removal for the Highlander mage, or else this will synergize with something else, if they're trying to make secret mage a thing.
I wonder if the secret triggers before battlecries and prevents them from resolving.

I'm not sure why so many seem to be on the fence about this one. It's just plain ba-a-a-a-a-d.
Team 5 can't pull the wool over our eyes! In fact, I think they should be feeling a little sheepish for releasing such a rotten card.

It is a lot better than Vaporize and works awesome vs deathrattle minions, I think will see play, not for tempo mage but for control mage.

Depends on what you payed first. If you did Mirror then that triggers then sheep
Soul Parade :)
People you're really not getting it.
