You mind sharing the source for this info? Because as it stands, Jaraxxus currently activates every other 'when a minion is played' secret in the game. I'm not sure why this one would be different.
Battlecries resolve completely before this secret activates. Once the battlecry of Lord Jaraxxus has resolved, there is no longer a legal target for Potion of Polymorph, because Jaraxxus is now a hero, not a minion.
No secret in the game will trigger if it has no valid target at the time it's supposed to trigger.
You're a little right but mostly wrong in your post. While it's true that battlecries resolve before secrets trigger, your legal target argument doesn't hold water. As I said, every other secret that activates when a minion is played triggers on Jaraxxus, even though he becomes a Hero. This includes Repentance, Sacred Trial, Mirror Entity, Snipe and Hidden Cache.
No, I'm still completely right. I simply didn't clarify that it fails because heroes can't be polymorphed. I thought that was obvious.
Repentence - Heroes have health, and it can be reduced to 1.
Sacred Trial - Heroes can be destroyed.
Mirror Entity - Has absolutely nothing to do with this discussion because it does nothing to the entity that triggers it.
Snipe - Heroes can take damage.
Hidden Cache - Has absolutely nothing to do with this argument because it does nothing to the entity that triggers it.
In all relevant cases, the action has always been possible. It has never been possible to polymorph a hero. Read the text of Lord Jaraxxus himself. Your hero does not transform into him; your hero is destroyed and replaced by him.
Because heroes have never been subject to polymorph effects (and probably never will be), gagan_dugan had every reason to believe a hero would not be a legal target for a the polymorph effect of this secret, which turns out to be the case.
I don't disagree that gagan_dugan had every reason to believe it wouldn't work. I never suggested otherwise. But all the evidence to the contrary suggested that it could work. That's the reason I posted all those secrets, even the ones you claim have nothing to do with this discussion (which once again, you're wrong there too) is that they are all the secrets that trigger after a minion is played. Every single one of them. And, they all trigger off of Jaraxxus.
So even though he had every reason to believe it wouldn't work, he didn't know for sure. He couldn't have. Nobody could have. But he wasn't sharing an opinion, he was stating it as fact that it wouldn't work, even though every single mechanically identical secret up to this point said otherwise. So, unless he worked for Blizzard or had access to information nobody else did, it was a pretty reasonable request to ask for his source and without it, perfectly reasonable to dismiss it until post launch when we could test for ourselves.
In the end, he ended up being right about the secret not working. Personally, I didn't think it would either. But until I know something for sure and can back up my claims, I'm not about to go around and start spreading information that could just as easily be false simply because of how I personally think things 'should' work.
It is very clear to everyone that Jaraxxus is a minion for all intents and purposes before his battlecry is triggered, so there is nothing surprising, interesting or relevant about the Mirror Entity and Hidden Cache interactions.
But honestly, this discussion is also not interesting or relevant.
Please avoid bumping an older thread for such negligible input. This is the sort of comment you could more appropriately post on the card page for Potion of Polymorph.
If anyone has something constructive to discuss about this card, that consists of more than asking if it will trigger people, you can create a new thread :)
Thanks.

Is this gonna trigger people?
