So as a Warrior main ill admit that at first i was, like it seems most are, a little disappointed by the new legendary Malkorok. But after thinking about the card my opinion has changed. So his stats are not very good 7 mana for a 6/5 is really bad so he must have a really powerful effect. How much would equipping a random weapon be valued at. For this card they valued it at 2 mana. so i looked at all the weapons in game and classified them into four categories, Bad, good, great, and amazing. this is my opinion some might differ slightly but i figure most would for the most part agree. i went through all weapons but obviously many won't be obtainable in standard
Bad-These are weapons in which you loose value
Cursed Blade Probably everyones biggest fear about playing this card, getting this weapon could quite possibly cause you to loose the game on its own.
Light's Justice you spent two mana on it and at the point in the game where you will be playing Malkorok a 1/4 isn't very useful
Cogmaster's Wrench In a warrior odds are you don't have many mechs so this is a 1/3 making it even worse than lights justice
Charged Hammer While the stats are fine if not better than average, the death rattle is what makes it bad IMO, while dealing two damage is a good hero power warriors would rather keep building up armor.
Good-these are weapons that while not exactly the top choice do give you about equal value to what you paid
Argent Lance-you spent two mana for the battle cry while a 2 mana 2/2 weapon wouldnt normally be played i figured as a battlecry is just good enough that you can work with it
Fiery War Axe already sees play is every warrior deck and costs 2 mana
Poisoned Blade i actually think this weapon isn't too bad in this situation and you most likely will be armoring up each turn any way so the weapon will grow bigger
Tentacles for Arms same stats as lance plus you get the card back, death rattles not good enough IMO to make it great though
Great- these are cards in which value has exceeded 2 mana
Sword of Justice wasn't sure whether to call this simply good or great as its a unique weapon. i decided great because of its potential. stats don't really matter and you won't be hitting with it
Death's Bite 4/2 stats are really good and you death rattle a whirlwind
Truesilver Champion again 4/2 stats are great and you get minor healing from it
Amazing- these are the few cards that have so much value when obtained from this battlecry that your opponent might just overdose from saltiness
Doomhammer its a 2/8 with windfury what else needs to be said
Gladiator's Longbow same stats as Arcanite Reaper which a classified as Great but you get immunity when attacking, the amount of value a control warrior can get from this weapon is simply insane
Gorehowl the card everyone probably thought of as the pinnacle of value to be gotten form this card.
So of the 26 weapons in game 5 are bad, 12 are good, 6 are great, and 3 amazing to put that in percentages 19% are bad 46% are good 23% and great and 11% are amazing. 80% of the time youll get something of value or better. and 34% of the time youll get something exceeding the value of the card. To me this sounds pretty good, id love to hear your opinions on both the card and by classifications, if you think a weapon is better or worse than i said.
What i think is that Malkorok is highly underrated.I agree with most of your points altough even a 6/5 stat is vanilla for a 5 mana, the worst weapons costs are 1 mana ( cursed blade and lights justice ) amongst the 26 weapons out there, so 2 out of 26 you have a chance to screw yourself equipping those.Else, you still have the mana value playing Malkorok ( imagine you equipped a coghammer or a charged hammer)
Again, it is yet to reveal that dull turn 6 plays will change or not.Depending on the stagnancy of turn 6 plays ( i.e doctor 6 being a huge tempo gain and/ or shieldmaiden/ let me change your mind considering other classes ) and considering Malkorok being played by control/ midrange rather than a aggro type of warrior, i think it is possible that it would be highly playable.
There must be many mechanics that ive been missing here for sure, then again my instincts yell at me that its not a bad card.
I agree. Malkorok isn't a sexy card, but I think he's fine value on average. I could easily see people playing him in place of a missing Death's Bite in Standard, although I don't think it will be a common inclusion by any means (mostly because I imagine Gorehowl will become more common in the lists that don't already run it, and adding 2 7-drops to replace 2 4-drops seems unlikely)

And when you consider the fact a lot of those bad weapons are GvG, that leaves a vast majority of them preeetty gooood.
This is what I was going to say. This probably slots into a non Cthun warrior control deck easily. Less situational than Baron Geddon and doesn't die to bgh.
Essentially unplayable in Wild, but he'll be a finisher in Arena. In Standard and some Brawls you'll at least have decent odds of getting Longbow, Gorehowl, Doomhammer, Reaper, or Truesilver. Getting 6/5 and almost any weapon for 1 more mana than LotArena is more than fair.

Charged Hammer - Might argue a bit here. Somearchtypes might prefer the 2 damage. Without knowing how the Old gods meta will unfold, we can use a current example, like Patron Warrior, which doesn't tend to Armor up all that often.
Good
Argent Lance - wonder if it will like a summon (like Varian Wrynn for weapons) and the weapons will not trigger their battlecry.
Poisoned Blade actually got this off an opponent's Blingtron in the current Brawl and yeah, its pretty nice. I got it up to about 6 attack at one point.
Tentacles for Arms Hard to judge an unreleased card, but I'd argue it belongs in the Bad category.
Gonna see a few Malkorok > Cursed Blade > Loss games on trolden at some point in time. I like the Malkorok card, but I'd probably try to have an axe in hand just in case you get a sh*t weapon and need a better one (especially if you get cursed blade, much better to spend 2 mana to remove it and have an axe instead)
Some of these classifications also depend on how your warrior deck is constructed. For example, Charged Hammer and Poisoned Blade pretty much switch places when you're playing a tempo-oriented deck, because you generally don't want to spend 2 not interacting with the board in a tempo deck.
Every card that has the potential to instantly lose you the game is a bad card.
Even the defining bad result of cursed blade is not an instant loss.
you will play Malkorok in warrior and will be playing other weapons I know I will have weapons. You choose when and in what manner you play the card. If you get this result you can overwrite with another weapon, or if you do not have mana ie playing on 7 you can play him into a board and versus a class in a controlled way thinking worst case what can they do if I lotto a blade. Not quite an instant loss.
if you play this in a weapon buff centric strategy ie pirate warrior it could be really really good.
After looking at the actual list of potential standard outcomes I am now interested in the card looks to be very interesting for a weapon synergy warrior deck.
Remember, Glaivezooka is in GvG, and is rotating out. I would definitely also argue that the Charged Hammer belongs in the good category because it has better than average stats it's death rattle is rarely going to hurt significantly, and it will sometimes be a significant upgrade (really this will only hurt if you've already played Justicar Trueheart, or were planning to play her soon).
I certainly think it's possible that the card will see play, but this valuation is way too optimistic. Most of these "good" results are actually pretty bad—a mediocre 5-mana body plus a small weapon not really worth 2 mana once you're past turn 3. On turn 7 or later, a 2- or 3-attack weapon just isn't very significant. You're basically paying 7 mana, and using your whole turn, on an oversized Arathi Weaponsmith—a card that doesn't see play even though the 2/2 weapon is much more relevant that early in the game.
In Standard, you have one terrible result (Cursed Blade), nine bad results (all the 2/2, 2/3, and 3/2 weapons), a couple bad-ish ones that depend on your list (Charged Hammer and SoJ are bad in CW but could be strong in a tempo list; Poisoned Blade is just the opposite), and seven good results (which are also slightly list-dependent; any deck with Heroic Strike is going to be insanely happy with Doomhammer, but CW would probably rather have almost any of the others).
Basically he has a 60% chance of being a slightly bad play, a 35% chance of being a really good play, and a 5% chance of being a total disaster. He's actually probably better in Wild just because the chance of getting Cursed Blade is lower.

Card will def see competitive play. In standard your chances are much better to get a good weapon
Here's a pie chart modified for Standard:
We will have to see how the meta develops but I think there is a high chance that this card will see play.
