I was thinking something along the lines of a stall/freeze combo mage gimmick deck with C'thun.
Run duplicates/echo, brann, and normal stall cards and hopefully have a huge C'thun at the end to finish the enemy off with either the battlecry itself, or just the big body on what will likely be an empty board (after it's battlecry goes off).
If the player is lucky enough for Resurrect to hit exactly C'Thun out of all minions that have died at that point, I would expect just the minion to appear on the table without any battlecries, as with any other card. Which makes it not only extremely unlikely to happen, but also weak & rather useless, as with 90% of the gimmicks that people are currently thinking of using with C'Thun. One of them is using Naga Sea Witch, Alarm-o-Bot etc., which have a very poor success equal to what you currently see with any other big creatures that you want to play on the same turn.
Unless some exciting new mana-discount card is introduced, nothing changes with the current set of cards and for example Naga: she will be exactly as successful and useful as she is today (if you haven't tried some decks of her, I highly recommend you do in order to know what I am talking about).
i see one counter deck atm already on meta. Patron decks. if you release a cthun on a board where oponent has a Grim patron and not only diminised a lot dmg to enemy player , next turn you face at least 6 grim patrons
You have to play several vanilla cards until you hopefully get to play C'thun(just to boost his stats), which is bad.
The problem? Turn 10 card! The way the meta is and always has been you will be dead by then.
This is honestly my current fear. I mean yes the combo could be pretty powerful but if I have to fill my deck with a bunch of vanilla cards (even stated decently) with less room for control cards the deck won't be good. Fun, maybe, but not good. It is hard to tell till we see the rest.
One possible combo I foresee being incredibly strong, maybe even OTK, depending on other cultists, is Brann Bronzebeard + ideally some cultists + Shadowstep on Brann, once you get C'Thun play him, shadowstep him, then next turn play Brann and C'thun. You already weakened your opponent's board if not destroyed it, and hurt his HP a lot, and you get a double activation this turn. With say a 20/20 C'thun this would be absolutely insane.
I love what this card will do for the state of the game. It's not an instawin nor a fast way to victory but it will be great when it happens. Of course, build your decks with a design that wins you the game before turn ten don't make this your only win condition and it will be worth gold when it plays out to win.
I hate this kind of card. Blizzard is talking about how they dont want people to combo you down from their hand. Then they release anyfin then this shit. Just a miserable experience to play against such things. If your opponent has the combo he just kills you turn 10. Nothing you can do really except maybe kill them before that or hope their draw sucks.

A legendary minion that is so expensive and requires most of the deck to be built around him needs to be strong in order to make a difference and not end up in the trash can. Plus, the damage is randomly distributed. With the same logic, at least one of the spells obtained from Rafaam should automatically give you the win - which of course is not true. It's not a case of charging treants, murlocs, patrons, Shadowstepped Leeroys etc. Plus, there are certain requirements that must be met for a C'Thun deck to work, providing weaknesses as well (for example, playing his buffing minions instead of the optimal ones that you would otherwise play).
I feel like posting about this to start a conversation.
C'thun will probably be a staple in many new and Innovative decks. Pairing C'thun and his acolytes to make him bigger, especially with Alexstrasa, could make this card extremely powerful in Battlecry and Freeze Mage decks. With the current card list, even though it is very limited, the idea of this new card makes me excited to try this out in many new decks once the expansion comes out.
Basically, replace your mad scientists with Beckoner of Evil, and replace your healbots with Elder, and you can replace your (A.) Pyro Blast or (B.) Antonidas or (C.) Malygoes with C'thun. The strat behind the deck would be to use the acolytes (could be paired with Brann) and Beckoners to pump up the C'thun to maybe a 15/15 or a 14/14. Then, use your doomsayers and Flamstrikes to clear the board of all his minions or use C'thun to clear the board as well. It's basically an Overpowered Avenging wrath that gives you how much damage it deals.
Just a thought, but C'thun is going to make Standard AND Wild EPIC.

Will it keep its stats after getting entombed? This card is likely to keep buffs when moving through different zones.

Does anyone know how this card interacts with Resurrect when C'Thun is in the graveyard?

I am not asking about the interaction because I want to build a deck around it. Knowing is better than getting surprised.

Aviana + Innervate + Brann Bronzebeard + C'Thun =Profit :D
I really wish they had released all the C'Thun cards at once because as it is its just impossible to judge the quality of the card.

Nice (y) I was thinking C'Thun + Shadowstep + C'Thun + Shadowstep + Brann Bronzebeard + C'Thun + Conceal + SMOrc (+ Master of Disguise Kappa Keepo) in a combo/control rogue deck.

Here's an Idea of what I have in mind.
2x Ice Lance, 2x Frostbolt, 2x Frost Nova, 2x Arcane Intellect etc, etc.
