So, I maxed out a couple of heroes. While there is nothing to spend coin on, they still clutter the reward pool. Why on earth would anyone ever want to spend money to buy packs and risk buying nothingness? It is annoying to see another reward where 80% goes to the 1 hero, meaning more time wasted again and again and again. It sucks.
I read elsewhere that in future there might be something to spend those useless, superfluous coins on. "In future", "might be"... I was hoping maxed out heroes would leave the pool, or at least for the coins to be replaceable by something else. But nah, a big downer once more. I do no longer feel compelled to continue playing, knowing more and more of my time spent to get coins will be useless (n terms of 0 progress). I play for the here and now, not for wasting time hoping in the distant future where there might be changed something. What are your thoughts?
EDIT: They also keep polluting the camp fire (visitors), meaning more useless coins, less usable things, less value of camp fire. Take my advise: postpone maxing heroes as long as possible if you value, well, value... Geez.
Are you talking about from packs or from bounties?
Heck, it doesn't matter. Anything. Even PVP reward just gave me coins for 2 maxed out heroes. The coins are completely useless, meanwhile I need tons of coins for other heroes. It's a complete waste of time with regards to progress like this. As more and more heroes get maxed out the waste of time gets greater and greater.
EDIT: Like this last bounty I just ran. Reward: 20x Xyrella, 10x Xyrella, 20x Xyrella, 15x Guff Runetotem. Xyrella is maxed out.. Meaning: 50/65 (~77%) of the rewards and time is just wasted.
Was that either the Serena Bloodfeather or Barak Kodobane bounty?
Specific bounties give specific coins with a -chance- of receive coins from whatever mercs are in your party.
Here's the thing, though - you *also* get other coins on to of those. I frequently have coins from mercs who aren't in the treasure chest or in my party. Only one set of coins, max, per bounty, though, and I wonder if it's related to overlap between bounty rewards and in-pary mercs.

Where is this table from? I need these for other areas.
As for the subject... It may be unpleasant that they don't prevent you from getting random coins BUT if they'll do this and then give us an option to spend those coins, it will feel bad for those who wanted to collect those for future use.

You can certainly see the bounty rewards by clicking the chest underneath the bounty picture on the right, before you enter. Most annoying is Diablo coins only come from Emperor, along with some chance of (probably) random coins.
completely agree with you, could not have said better myself.
absolutely "in future" and "maybe" does not cut it. I dont want useless rewards for couple of months at least. They should've made it better and provided some kind of a dupe protection for coins.
Its not even one week. Let us see what the first patch brings. I also am close to finishing Cariel and Cornelious with everything so would be nice if they would not get infinite amounts of coins you cant use anymore. I expect them to be "tradable" to a coin equal the tier like for other rare mercs.

"... but not less than (1)" is needed now more than ever!
also the duplicate protection works in a fishy way, always in detriment of the players, as usual with blizzard
for example, i dont have all the epic mercs but i keep receiving stupid epic costumes of mercs that already have instead of a mercs that i dont have, luckily didnt happen to me with legendaries but if i collect coin by coin to purchase a f*****ing pack and i receive a cosmetic legendary instead of a legendary mercs i think i abandon the mode

I seem to recall they said you can't get skins until you have all the mercs of the same rarity rank. I have so far gotten no skins for Rare mercs and I think I have all but three or so, this is mathematically highly implausible to say the least.
So hopefully it is a bug that gets patched post-haste.

I got golden skin for Cariel early - possibly due to getting her from a Q. Other than that, I started getting some golden skins only after getting the last few rares.

Yes I have golden Carrie too, it comes from the quest as you guessed.

That's not what they said, but it's understandable that people might have read it that way.
How it really works: Each pack has the guaranteed Merc slot and four random slots. The rarity of the guaranteed Merc is fixed and will never change to another rarity. If you have all Mercs of that rarity, you will get a portrait. If you have all Mercs and all portraits of that rarity, you will get coins of that rarity (50 coins for rare -- that's how you can tell it's the guaranteed slot).
The other four slots are totally random. They can be coins or Mercs or portraits of any rarity, with the same probabilities as Hearthstone cards. This is why it is possible to get an epic portrait in a pack that was supposed to include a rare Merc. You got 50 rare coins in the guaranteed slot and a portrait in one of the random slots. If you think about it, Hearthstone packs work the same way -- it just looks a little weird because duplicates get converted into coins.
It would have been smarter if they had created some kind of visual differentiation for the guaranteed slot, and maybe an animation of the duplicate Merc getting changed into coins. That way, it would be easier for players to understand the system and not feel so cheated.

And again, Xyrella coins from PVP reward and as "?"-bonus from task completion on other hero.
Fk it

You are to addicted eh, to fast. My best hero has 3/3/2 on skills, and 2/1/- on the items.
The reward system feels half baked overall.
It's 2021, launching a collecting game (or mode) with neither a dust system nor duplicate protection is terrible.

I explained my concern about this topic many times in every post on this website. I received very stupid comments from Blizz fans kids.
Now at least I know the answer and it is the answer that I was scared for.
So, thank you.
yea I remember you, you were like Doomsayer, asking that in every merc topic :D
But unfortunately, yeah, you were right, I was hoping and pretty much expecting that they wouldve implement a system to prevent that. oh well..
Guess I'm glad I didn't buy any bundles for this... but honestly, this seems like a big "oops" on their part.
I would imagine they will implement a fix for this but the question is when exactly? Not a great feeling.
