I played it a couple times. Wasn't fun. Doesn't generate money for Blizz. Just a waste of manpower IMHO.
I'd much rather they use those resources to make the actual game better. Wouldn't you rather have a tournament mode than battlegrounds? Maybe a better casual mode? (you know, one that is casual) I for one would vastly prefer a single player mode like Hextcg has.
Maybe I'm alone in this. But, the battlegrounds mode is just stupid. It's like a game of war (the card game). And the only reason folks haven't noticed yet is that they constantly change the cards. But, it's still war, just slightly different versions each couple weeks. I mean, I guess I played a lot of war when I was 5yo, but I can't imagine wanting to play it now unless I"m entertaining a 5yo. And that to me is the game mode they have invested in, and continue to invest in heavily.
Kind of agree in that I don't personally care for Battlegrounds and would love to see the resources used working on Battlegrounds instead directed towards improving Hearthstone itself... But at the same time I realize that Battlegrounds is enjoyed by a large number of people, and it offers a way to play without investing a lot of time and money into a collection only to have your cards rotate out and force you to get new ones. Battlegrounds isn't my cup of tea, but it does provide a lot of enjoyment for many others, and that alone is good enough to keep it around.
While the mode itself doesn't currently generate any money for Blizzard, it does expand it's audience. Auto chess is clearly a popular mode for games these days that allow fans to see the cards/heroes/items of that game used in a brand new way. The hearthstone version obviously has it's faults, but as someone who can quickly becomes bored with any given meta I quite enjoy the change of pace.
I can understand your frustration though. A mode you have no interest in being focused on seemingly has no benefit for you. I personally wouldn't care about a tournament mode or a better casual mode(not sure what's wrong with the current one), but anything that keeps people logging on or attracts new players is a win. Many top hearthstone streamers play battlegrounds consistently which says a lot.
I'm not sure what BG's have in common with the card game war. While you have very little influence over your opponents side of the board, there are many choices you have to make almost every turn, any of which can be fatal if done wrong.
I would suggest giving it another chance, if only as an occasional break from regular Hearthstone. Even in losses I often enjoy it since there are so many different heroes and play styles to try and learn.
I think its great. Plenty of playability, different strategies according to which hero you select, and a different style of HS to ladder and arena. I can see why its not for everyone, but I think its a nice addition and something very different to what there was, which is what was needed - and it has plenty of scope to be developed further.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but to call it a "stupid waste of energy" is very unreasonable IMO.

I posted this in the general forum, where more folks would like a tournament mode or a better casual. Having it moved to this forum, with this audience really changed the tone of what I wrote.
As always Blizzards actions are political in nature to regulate and divert attention of the mindless crowd not to get gutted. The repulsive nature of card design is even for the hardened skill hating player difficult to bare. Battle ground was conceived to that end.
Those wanna play a game of skill notice the diversion with battlegrounds.

We make our world significant through the courage of our questions and the depth of our answers.
The mode is actually fun, but too much RNG is involved.
I currently stay at around 7,5k and had loose strikes down to 5.5 and win streaks up to 8.1 easy. When the stars align you just go winning 24/7 and close the game early as possible.
The thing I dislike is that in the mid-game a normal damage blow is 6 to 10 points, while someone with RNG on their side can easily get an absurd combo that you have still no answer and literally chunk of 1/2 of your Hp in turn 6-7 with 18 to 25 dmg. I have done it as well with some early Hydra or insane Cobalt synergy, but this is not fun and breaks your strategy immediately especially if you went after demons as the build is highly dependent on watcher and weaver...
The mode has it's potential, but atm is just a fun mode with swinging nature.
think its great. Plenty of playability, different strategies according to which hero you select, and a different style . Man what do I do play murlock or demons or mech man such strategy. Btw the game it’s self is not strategy I don’t care what u think is a strategy it all depends on what a attcks what which is not strategy more like a shit load of RnG. Wake up and smell the RnG.
Battlegrounds is just about the only thing keeping me in hearthstone right now. If I face another galakrond whatever, I'll probably puke. Now there's a shitshow for you. What the actual hell were they thinking on that one I'll never know
While it is a legitimate argument for gamers to complain that devs aren't using resources to improve a game, I don't think it holds water here.
Hearthstone is being updated and changed more frequently than ever before. So certainly battle grounds hasn't lessened hotfixes and updates.
Also, the OP's post does come across as intentionally condescending, like he is trying to insinuate that you have to ibe a five year old to enjoy BG. It's simple, if you like it, play it. If you don't, don't. But the fact HS devs are releasing new modes is always a good thing. If no one plays BG, the mode will disappear, but I would say it's actually getting the game a lot of traffic.

So you're saying: "I don't like it so nobody else is allowed to enjoy it"

My magic will tear you......oh.
Ok
Rage quitting: the best way to ensure your opponent knows they beat a giant baby.
The problems with Battlegrounds is it should have been a separate game, with it's own team, not tied to HS

what are you saying ?? Battlegrounds offers a variety of play experiences, like forcing demons and losing to people who force demons

I love Battlegrounds, best mode right now, shut up!

I don't like pizza! So why not focus all our resources on eggplant parm? I don't understand why people like pizza. It's just bread, sauce and cheese?

Sounds like someone lost badly and decide to ragepost about it. Wrong place
Battlegrounds is just about the only thing keeping me in hearthstone right now. If I face another galakrond whatever, I'll probably puke. Now there's a shitshow for you. What the actual hell were they thinking on that one I'll never know
let's be honest here all modes are trash and useless
BG is a huge offender to the system because 15 minutes per game for 1/3 of 10 gold LUL bro what? what u chasing just A NUMBER RANKING
Constructed Same garbage games faster but what u chasing a NUMBER
Arena What you chasing same thing a number LUL of gold etc wins
In conclusion .... we are just chasing numbers some are just more profitable than others but BG for farming gold is disgustingly slow
Hmmmm...

Mmmmmmm.... Shadowy thoughts.
"What!? You're playing a game just because you find it FUN!? What are you doing?"
