Extremely disappointed about Whizbang staying in Wild. What a missed opportunity to just bring the card back
Whizbang was a godsend to free players because all they had to do was craft him and they basically got free decks to use, of course there is no way in h-e-double hockey sticks they could allow something like that to stick around in standard
Bottom line this is the end of the line for FTP players. Well I suppose the FTP players can come back and play each new expansion, but with half as many opened packs why would you want to?
I normally can earn enough gold to buy 75 to 100 packs each season just by completing daily quests and 10 gold for every 3 wins. Now I'll be lucky to get enough gold to buy 40 to 50 new packs each season.
Q: What kind of a decks can I build from only opening 50 new packs each expansion?
A: Not ones good enough to want to keep playing.
Thanks Blizzard...It's been fun while it lasted. This is my last season.
Yeah I’m thinking this is my last season too. I’m not even bothering with the Tavern Brawls anymore, and I barely touch Battlegrounds like I used to. The aggro BS combined with ActiBlizz pricing everything out has really sucked out any motivation to play
Tavern Brawls were my favorite mode cause 1/2 the time I didn't need to make a deck and worry I didn't have this or that legendary card and now with the new system nothing in Brawls apparently counts towards the new quests so that killed the game for me right there. Act-Blizz seems to be focused on milking the few whales for every penny and giving the middle finger to everyone else. Guess they got to the point were they realized no matter what they did X number of players would still play and they are fine with letting the game coast at that point.
Just wait until 2-3 xpacs from now when the rewards will end up being half of what they are now as Blizzard will lower the rewards we get with every xpac, just like MtGA did and pretty much every system that uses a pass system has done
cheaper packs -> people play more different decks -> more fun -> more player satisfaction/retention.
This can all be done with some price drops that wouldn't hurt them but would make people love them. But that's not how capitalism works unfortunately.
Sadly most businesses forget or ignore the fact that you can't get any money out of people who don't use your product. They focus more on wringing every cent out of the super devoted customer instead of trying to get more customers who might spend a little less overall individually . Lots of businesses think having 5 devoted customers spend 100 bucks each is better than 50 customers spending 10 bucks each. HS unfortunately got to the point it seems were they no longer care about expanding the original game to new people and instead are just focused on getting as much money as they can out of the existing super devoted players, or adding stuff like Battlegrounds to try to attract a completely different audience, which will probably work in the short term but long term is probably going to lead to a smaller and smaller playerbase for the actual game.
Whelp, as expected HS copied MtGA and went with the even greedier battle pass route so I expect the rewards will consistently get lowered with every subsequent expansion just like with MtGA.
They dont want ppl to stack gold and buy 100+ packs of their new expansion because then nobody gonna buy the bundle they offer! Now with the new system they wouldnt give you daily gold but they will give you packs from old expansions (most of the time cards that you already have). So, if you want to have early access to new cards from new expansions you MUST buy their bundle! The game will still be f2p but with way worst conditions!(they dont lie, but they dont say the whole truth too!)If you are a f2p that sucks for you!If you are a competitive player, that's is irrelevant for you because you will keep playing they game and buy stuff no matter what.
yep. they are sick of people like me playing for "free" and not spending real money every expansion. I used to buy the bundle, but that was when I still played WoW so I was actually just shifting WoW gold to my Blizz acct and using that to buy the bundle's so I still wasn't spending "real money". But I stopped playing Wow almost a year ago and for the last 3 expansions I bought a few packs with gold but that's been it. I mostly only play 1 class and sometimes switch to a couple other classes and there are a couple I completely avoid (shaman, priest) so I don't need every card. I also just automatically dust any gold cards that I already have regular copies of so when an expansion comes along I spend maybe 2k gold on packs, see what i get then dip into my stash of like 40k dust to craft the couple legos and epics I think i will need. Watch the "redo" of the basic / classic set will also eliminate a bunch of the better cards that fill out a 1/3 of practically every deck forcing people to spend more on new stuff also. The change in the end of month rewards has already resulted in me going from getting dust, some gold and maybe a card to me getting just 1 uncommon card, so I'm already receiving way less there than I did just a year ago. There are totally shifting from trying to keep the game growing to just milking the few remaining players dry before they just shut it down completely for "Hearthstone 2" and forcing everyone to start over. I mean really HS is a mobile game first and foremost and very few of em even last this long.
Agreed, if you have a look to the comments they say that it will not replace Gold.
It won't replace gold yet. Just wait. MtG Arena added a battle pass about a year ago and it had nice rewards the first season but the rewards have consistently become less and less with each successive one to the point where now not even a year later and the rewards are about a 1/4 of what they were in the beginning and don't reward you enough gems to pay for the next one. The Battlepass will be a good deal to begin with but the rewards will be nerfed over time so that the best you can do is break even and anyone who doesn't play / manage their time optimally will end up at a loss and the only way for 99.9% of the game to pay for it will be to give Blizz real money. The game is done for, now it's on to the "milk em dry" phase before they phase HS out and only thing left will be p2p Battleground where the randomness will assure you can't play for free.
Ya know instead of Brawls like this where it's basically just ladder with a new hero power or some other minor change, it would be nice to get stuff that forced you to build different decks like brawls that picked 2 sets at random ( like say Grand Tournament and Boomsday Project) you got access to those cards and you had to build a deck using only those 2 sets.
We have been rewarded. I don't see why this should bother you. Someone who earns gold more than those who are new or gone. If you don't like this deal you can always walk away and wait for the next welcome back goodie bag. I am going to assume you're an adult and took some sort of business class in Highschool. You should know how simple this concept is. If you have cable, cell service, etc you know they offer deals to new/returning customers. Its just how it works. It does make sense. However your cable company hasnt given you free packs or legendary cards like we've been gettin . We just got a lot of packs last month that new or returns wont get and we are likely way ahead on collection.
True but if I'm already unhappy with my cable company and see they are giving new customers a month free and I call them and complain they usually will give me the same offer cause they know it's easier to retain a customer than risk them leaving (which a decent chunk of customers will do) and having to try to win them back. If they say "no tough luck" and I have different options I will probably take them, especially when other competing companies are offering me the same or better deal to jump ship to them. If i'm already unhappy with HS there are many alternatives and players perceiving they are getting shafted (even if they aren't) is going to hurt more than help
the problem is giving the decks to everyone both current and new/returning players doesn't hurt any of the players and helps the entire playerbase. But by not doing that though they are both fostering resentment and punishing the casual players who don't play very often&/ or are losing interest in the game and seeing some new player getting free legendaries that they don't have might be enough to push them into quitting forever.
They moved everyone over to work on the Battlegrounds. Seriously Battlegrounds should have been a separate game, fact they tied it into HS shows how cheap / short handed they must be of course nothing is going to be working right.

They care more about Battlegrounds than they do about HS itself, why Battlegrounds wasn't a separate game still boggles my mind.

Don't see point of this deck when opponents are completely ignoring the hero powers and just playing broken decks that win by turn 3 or 4.

Seems like Blizz and WotC are in a battle to see who can alienate their playerbase/kill their game the most/fastest.

The problems with Battlegrounds is it should have been a separate game, with it's own team, not tied to HS
