I was talking with a couple of acquaintances who also play HS, and they really seem to hate playing against priest. I don't really get it. Priest has always been one of my favorite classes in HS since day one. Priest isn't particularly strong at the moment, nor has it been in the past few months. So why do people hate priests?? I'm not salty but legitimately curious. And I'll appreciate any edifying comments.
Also as a side note, I ended up arguing with them about lightbomb. They are convinced its super OP. I don't really think so. It's good. Very good. But not super OP. What do you guys think about it. (Please no extra salty ass comments. Try to keep it reasonable and edifying.)
Priest sucks to play against and I will tell you why:
1) If you are a Face deck, then you lose despite the skill gap that may exist. It is such a one-sided affair that only the Priest player can enjoy any aspect of the game except for the infrequent occasions where Face squeezes out a win.
2) Priest is so fucking slow and boring to play against. I don't want to spend 30 minutes watching you try to heal and fatigue your way to victory (or defeat).
3) If you are a deck like Oil Rogue, then Priest is easy pickings. You don't get any joy when you beat a Priest with such an advantage.
4) Lightbomb is often times impossible to play around. This is annoying.
5) Dragon Priest is perhaps the most mindless deck to pilot. Play oversized creatures each turn with no real penalty for doing so. The Dragons and Enabled Cards are strong as fuck.
So there you have it. Priest is a class that most people don't enjoy playing against.
TLDR; Priest is not fun to play against (win or lose).
Theft/copying is an infuriating mechanic to some people (like me). It has nothing to do with balance or wins and losses.. it's just not -fun- to play against.
Couldn't give a rat's if a priest steals my deadly poison or shield slam. It's just the 20 minute grind you know you're in for when you queue into one.
I love priestpriest, but I understand people hating the long games. I'm a control player and still my heart sinks sometimes when I face a priestpriest, just because of the length of the games. I don't main any class, the last few months I've played as priest about 1/5th of the time, and I don't mind facing it at all. I don't really get all the hate for stealing stuff. I find face decks, fatigue decks or even other control decks, like Freeze Mage or Control Warrior, more annoying.
Lastly, anyone who says priest isn't skillful is ignorant, or trolling, I think overall it's the 1st or 2nd hardest class to play. Except dragon priest, I hate that deck ;)
As mentioned by everyone else in this thread, it's mostly the theft mechanic. While it feels bad to be run down by mindless paladins curving from Dr. 6 to Dr. 7 to Tirion, it feels worse to be killed by your own cards, especially after an epic 20 minute struggle. Many priest decks don't even run win conditions, simply relying on stealing win conditions in the control mirror. I think the worst is piloting something like Murloc paladin perfectly, only to be killed by a lucky stolen Anyfin Can Happen.

Priest is my absoult favorit class and crushing aggro and paladins with it feels so good. I'm happy if my enemies hate me for playing priest, i hate facedecks and paladins too.

I don't hate you, I just think you can be as annoying as Paladins at times :* :*
Paladin has the best 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 drop in the game, yet players are complaining about Priest...
I dont think anyone is mad about "OP" minions in priest, rather, its the mechanics, and playing against your own deck that is infuriating. Yes, palading has arguably the best minion lineup, but if you get all your minions Lightbombed, and then get your Tirion Entombed, then you have a tough (and annoying) match ahead of you
As a priest player, I must say that I do some very annoying things to my opponents. Muster for battle? How about a wild pyromancer? Have combo in your hand? How about I thoughtsteal that Ancient of War you were nice enough to run for me? Full board as a zoo? Well I've got about 6 different AOEs pick your poison. Alex me down to put me in range of burst or grom? Entomb Flash Heal should put a stop to that silly thought.

Thank you very much guys!
Cause he steals all your stuff and just cleans your whole board with 3 aoes he has.. So priest is annoying..
Mind Vision, Mind Control, Entomb, Mindgames, Shadow Madness, Thoughtsteal, Cabal Shadow Priest
priest definitely has a place on ladder, especially when people are trying to counter aggro. Priest can do well against aggro and anti-aggro.
I think people hate priests because 1) they take all your stuff (as mentioned above) and 2) games take a long time to finish

Who hates priest?
I like to make cards and discuss game balance.
I enjoy when "No similar decks were found."

the guy above you seems to be one
Reason 1: Light Bomb
Reason 2: Entomb
Reason 3: Mind Control (rare but annoying as fck)
Reason 4: Kabal Shadow Priest (not sure if spelled that way)
and last but not least: Thought steal
Light Bomb is maybe the least annoying of those Cards but Thought steal already cost the life of my last Wireless Mouse :)

Priest, 'priestpriest' was unintentional - my phone sometimes doubles words and I can't seem to use the edit function today...

Complaining about Priest is like complaining about the flue while the Pest is striking.
Most powerful and most boring class.
they take my cards
