Say what you will about Reynad. His personality. His tournament performances. His attitude. I've certainly said it all. But when it comes to deck building, the guy is a genius. Overpowered decks is what he's known for, it's what he'll be remembered for in the Hearthstone community.
The guy definitely knows how to upend the meta. He did it several months ago with Zoolock, which is still a dominate force in the game. A couple months ago he showed the Hearthstone world the value of Oasis Snapjaw in Hunter builds, a neutral minion nobody was playing, but as of now almost everybody is playing.
Now he's done it again. He hasn't named the deck, but Mad Trapper seems as good a name as any. It utilizes the new Naxxramas card, Mad Scientist, and the best of the Hunter traps, Explosive and Freezing.
This deck is nuts. I've played 38 games with it this evening and I am 30 - 8. Two of those losses were due to major misplays or my behalf, so it could very well be 32 - 6.
Similar to Zoolock, it does not seem to have any hard counter. Even the less than optimal matchups are 60-40 at the worst. (See below for match breakdowns.)
Mad Trapper is mostly a to-the-face aggro deck. You make trades when you have to do so, mostly making use of Hunter's Mark, but for the majority of each turn, you're trying to burn your opponent down as quickly as possible. You keep control of the board through the use of traps, both via playing them and via Mad Scientist (who plays a trap for free from your deck upon death).
Reynad may be correct when he calls Mad Scientist the best card to come out of Naxxramas, and perhaps the most broken card. It makes this deck near unstoppable.
The oddest thing about my time playing the deck is that there are hardly any Mad Trapper Hunters on the ladder, even though Reynad released the deck very early in the AM on August 14th. Playing throughout the evening I encountered three Hunters, none of which were Mad Trappers.
Heavy ramp Druid and Handlock are two of the tougher matchups, but my winning record against them is still over 50%. You just have to save Hunter's Mark for the right minions. And Freezing Trap can throw their tempo into disarray as well.
Hunter VS Handlock is like a 95/5 haha Raynad said this on his stream this morning :p
Maybe I just got particularly bad hands. But to get through the wall of giant taunts, you need Hunter's Marks in hand. And if you want to blast damage past them, you need Kill Commands in hand. Not to mention Freezing Traps in play. I don't think it's an easy matchup, but maybe I'm just playing against Handlock incorrectly. I have yet to see Reynad play the deck.

Well you want kc's for burn so u can do 12 damage to there face
Flood, every time I read one of your posts, I learn a little more about how to play the game haha, hopefully with all the new knowledge I can climb higher than I did last season!

Well, if you're blocked by two taunted giants, sometimes you don't have a choice how you use Kill Command.
I always lose as Druid against Hunter. It's like I have a mental block. I haven't played the ramp druid for a while though. I don't know whether to play as this deck or a deck that has a good game against it. You think Paladin would be good?
I think so, but it will depend on draws.
When I play my control pally, I usually win against hunters. But I just beat a pally with this deck because he couldn't keep any kind of board control. Now it could be because I had a great starting hand and he didn't or plainly because he was a terrible paladin player.. who knows.
Not sure how your record vs Warriors is so good.. been playing control warrior a lot recently and it seems to be dominating the current versions of hunter.. Is houndmaster that good in this deck?
Been helping me quite a bit, the main thing against war is to put pressure but at the same time do a minimum amount of control. I had a few that played grommash round 8 but either couldn't attack due to trap or took the chance and got it send back for 10.
Even had one warrior who took his chance twice with grommash at 8&10 and twice it got sent back
Does Mad scientist pull a secret from your deck and put it into play, or does it simply put a secret into play (from your deck), without actually pulling it?

It is put into play, just hover over the secret ? icon to see which one he pulled out.
After playing all those games, are you comfortable saying that it's Mad Scientist that's made the difference? Does getting the trap for free outweigh the fact that you no longer get to play them situationally? I haven't played a lot of Hunter, but it's always seemed like it's an important piece to be able to judge just how long to wait before laying down an explosive trap against zoo, or playing freezing trap it bounces something more than a Squire.
Why does nobody ever put what ranks they played to get these huge win percentages?
I think I am like 5-2 right now against trap hunters using Kolento's Mid range hunter at rank 3-4. Hunter Traps are too easy to play around and getting random ones off of the scientist just isn't that great... This is basically the hunter deck I was playing last week and got stuck at rank 7 with except has scientist instead of more removal... doesn't seem worth it to me.

I've been wondering the same. Just today watched my friend climb from rank 13 to 8 with a huge streak and a winrate of 75% with this deck, BUT got stuck there instantly. Rank does indeed make a huge difference what deck to play and what winrates you're getting, so these winrate topics that don't mention rank or are below 5 should be taken with a grain of salt. Not bashing this deck, just a general notion.

3-0 against Warrior is very impressive. I've been playing Warrior seem to dominate Hunters.

Honestly though, the Mad Scientist card came out and he's playing it in a hunter deck with some secrets, it's hardly genius.

It's pretty good and mirror matches are very close and fun. Only thing I see this deck weak to is taunt druids/paladins.
I just went 7W - 2L to climb from Rank 4 to Rank 3,
Decided to give this a shot for the hunter quest since I didn't have a hunter deck. Here are my current stats:
Vs Control War: 1-1 (lost due to him stacking too much armor up right away)
Vs Priest: 1-0
Vs Control Paladin: 1-0
Vs Ramp Druid: 1-0
Vs zoo: 1-0
Overall: 6-1
The leeroy+UTH combo round 7 usually seals the deal. Also webspinner adds some randomness and gave me a beast earlier.
I think so, but it will depend on draws.

Do deformed rabbit, that's my favourite.
